Secrets Aura Cozumel - All Inclusive

This is our second time to Secrets Aura - we went 3 year prior. There are certainly high points and low points, just as there are to any all-inclusive. While the food is mostly average, the drinks are hit-or-miss depending on the bartender, and the service varies substantially, it is a good value overall. The rooms are average sized - ours stayed nice and cool, which was nice. They are pretty basic, but the mattresses were quite comfortable, and we had a swim-up, which was very nice. They could use some renovation (TV is small, but you don't really watch it that much; furniture has seen better days; nothing fancy about the mirror), but the bathrooms are always clean and quite nice. All-in, a good experience - and we always have a good time. Their beach is great, albeit the shallow water is rocky, but it makes for FANTASTIC snorkeling right off the resort. Between the neighboring Sunscape resort and the many restaurants, you have good selection. The sushi was actually quite good, and the French restaurant always has the best food. Food service always struggles and is just a bit off - but again, all good on average. Orders aren't always 100% right with room service, but if you're not too picky, you'll still be happy... Poolside service could use improvement, as it was a struggle to order food and drink at times, but if you tip well initially, your service ends-up being much better. :) We did a romantic beach dinner - worth the price - best food of the trip.

Secrets was amazing. From the moment we arrived, all of the staff treated us great. The food option were plenty and all the restaurants we used served delicious meals. I would ne remiss if I didn't mention the fabulous bars and bartenders! Recommend the Preffered Rooms, a little pricier but unbelievable accomodations!

Great all inclusive resort for adults only, food & restaurants...phenomenal. The staff was awesome in every place: from check-in to restaurants, to beach & pool service. Overall it was a great stay.

Four day trip, great spa, no lines for food, no reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

We spent a week here and had a great time. I wouldn't say it is a luxury resort, but everything was nice and people were very friendly. Nice pools but none were heated, and the jacuzzi was lukewarm at best. With a few improvements it would be a fantastic resort, but it is still pleasing as is.

We stayed at this resort for a week with a large group of family and friends who were there for a wedding. The ceremony took place on the resorts pier and was absolutely beautiful. However the resort itself did not live up to our expectations. The section that our room was in was definitely older. Our toilet was mismatched (oval lid on square tank), mildew stains all down the back of the bathroom door, wall mounted mirror that fell off the wall when I touched it and when they came to fix it, they left behind all the debris from the repair. We did not get a decent shower all week. The water temperature in our room went from too hot to too cold. We found out that other buildings had no water at all at certain times so I guess we were the lucky ones! The service was very inconsistent. Several times we had to wait over an hour for our meals and some of the bartenders would simply ignore us. And finally our biggest disappointment was the piles of food and dishes that were left stacked in the hallways and on the stairs for days!

My i-phone was removed from living area table while we were at dinner. We had asked to have our water supply replenished before we went. Tips for housekeeping were removed during another water replenishment request. Tips for turn-down service, left on the bed (far remote from the fridge) were also removed. The report to security was very professionally taken but the matter was turned over to a concierge who was impossible to reach within a reasonable time frame. There was no follow-up even though I was assured there would be. It turns out that there have been other reviews mentioning theft in this resort during the same time period. This was our third 2-week stay at this particular resort and the theft incident certainly put a huge damper on this vacation. We will most likely spend our time at another resort next year.

Had such a fun and relaxing time at Secrets Aura. I met many people from all over the world. They also have a wonderful entertainment staff that plans fun daily activities to keep you active!

When taking a shower I could only use the hot water side because it was luke warm at best.Several times while taking a shower the water would stop completely as if I had shut it off myself. It would take as long as Five minutes or so before it would start flowing again. The air conditioner had to be worked on the first night there. The room never got cool, even after repairs were made.Batteries in the door lock went dead, couldn't get into room after late night. Was very quick to fix this problem though.

Mattress was caved in, pillows were horrible, hard and uncomfortable. Had issues getting hot water for showers. At time, bathroom smelled like a sewer. Food was hit or miss. Deserts were horrible. We were served profiteroles that were at least a week old, the shell was dry and even the filling was solid and dehydrated as being kept in refrigerator for a week. Staff was friendly, but on island time so everything was slow. Had to ask for tea and coffee and refills at the Market restaurant all the time. The beach have more umbrellas. They need to hire a pastry chef and up the level of deserts, 9 out of 10 times we just walked away.

We were fortunate to spend our honeymoon here for 7 days! Staff, food, drinks, room service were all awesome! My only suggestion would be with regard to the "nightclub"...very small, unappealing and playing the same odd techno music over and over. Otherwise, trip of a lifetime, we will absolutely return!

This is a good place to eat drink and scuba. Nothing over the top. Good for all inclusive.

The non preferred rooms are really worn. Lots of stains and a definite mold smell. I woke up covered in bites after our first night and, while the staff reluctantly made it right, there was no sense of urgency and zero customer service. The entire staff from pool, restaraunts and front desk seem entitled and not like they have been trained to provide anything above and beyond.

overall great, it is the third time we have been there, its mexico :)

Really nice facilities, perfect location for a vacation. Beautiful snorkeling just a few feet from the shore....12-15 different species of fish and rays right outside our hotel room. Food was good and drinks were great at the resort. Going back soon!

I chose this hotel because I stayed at a Secrets in Puerto Vallarta and it was out of a dream! This resort shouldn’t even be in the same category. We stayed in a preferred club junior swim up with ocean view that had no swim up bar (it was located on the other side of the resort), our air conditioning and fridge didn’t work until day 2, our bed was broken, the room had a strong odor of must, mold or mildew and visible fungal growth in the bathroom, we had a large cricket in our bed first night and a huge cockroach on the floor day 3. The buffet had a limited selection of food sitting out in extreme heat for hours. Room service didn’t have items that were on the menu. It was definitely not worth the extra money for the “preferred” status.

Exceptional beach but rocky getting in. Crystal clear water, sandy but still saw over 50 varieties of fish including scorpion fish, lion fish and stingrays so wear water shoes and shuffle your feet! It's shallow with only hint of a current. You can rent resorts snorkeling gear for two hours each day free but I recommend buying Triborn Easybreath Sorkeling Mask before you go from Amazon. Pro Dive shop in town of Cozumel wanted $120 for one. Water served in restaurants was very good and safe to drink. Bottled water easily available anywhere. Drinks were good, got a few I didn't like but also had some awesome ones! House Cab Sav was good wine. Food was good but avoid buffet. No reservations required and can eat as many times as you want at your favorite restaurant. No wait if you dine early. Mexican restaurant at Sunscape, sister resort, was good but eat early or long wait. Oceana had good mixed ceviche. Room service was great at lunch but a wait as it gets later into the evening. Glacé at Coco Cafe was best dessert. There is a bad odor in some places. Room AC worked great and water pressure was great. Bed was very hard. Plan to stay in an updated room. We aren't activity and show people but every day we got a full itinerary of that day's activities, operating hours for each restaurant and bar and show that evening. Use do not disturb sign on your door once you go to bed to avoid getting woken up for turn down service. Excellent staff. Overall, wonderful trip!

Great service with food and beverage service on the beach and pool areas! Room service is also excellent! The resort is nice, right on the beach, the beach is nice however a little rocky when walking in, bring water shoes. The snorkeling is great right off the shore, tons of fish to see! The food is great at Oceana's and Windows restaurants, however the Market buffet was just average food. Overall this is a nice property with great staff! This hotel is about 20 minutes by car to the main ferry and downtown shopping areas. The shuttle service from the airport to the hotel was very reasonable, only 8 US per person, however on the way back the taxi is 29 one way trip to the airport.. Taxi cost to shopping/ferry pier is about 15 each way. I booked a car rental on Orbitz when I made my reservation but the car rental agency would not accept my prepaid car insurance thru orbitz and wanted to charge me over double to rent the car for insurance and crazy deposits, so we did not end up renting a car, the prices were way crazy, not what was quoted to me on orbitz. Other than the car fiasco the trip was great! I would stay again! Thank you

Ac dripping in room. Not enough pool side service. Overall awesome time. Great trip

My first trip to Cozumel. Great trip over all. If you want wide open all the time , you may want to go else where. Very clean rooms. Very good food and drinks. Quiet enough, but a lot of fun to be had. Beautiful area with lots things to do. I was there for five nights, I will make it six or seven next trip.
