The property has, like many resorts since Covid, had a tough time with rising costs and staffing. Despite that, our experience was amazing, and we couldn't ask for a more welcoming, clean, and beautiful place for our vacation. From the administration to the wait staff to the housekeeping staff, everyone is friendly and helpful. Any issues we had were quickly and pleasantly addressed. We have been coming to Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort for 12 years and will keep coming back for many years to come. Nothing beats and value for the money and no resort ticks as many boxes on our wish list as this resort does.

Property was great, it was clean, the restaurants were good. What I didn’t like was orbitz. The Orbitz booking process was absolute trash.

The property was a bit older and dated. There was a few small issues with the room cleanliness when we arrived. Also the guy who checked us in was rude. Other than that, the staff was great! They had amazing bartenders. Omero, Domingo, and Carlos were all great! Aurora, was amazing at the breakfast Buffett serving up any omelette or egg you wanted with a smile everyday. Overall, it was a very good trip. Just a little bit of a rough start.

The property is fairly new and well kept up. Great location. The restaurants are a hit and miss though. But overall a lot of fun!

Great property! We were able to snorkel virtually right out our door seeing stingrays and sea turtles. Easy walking distance to town. You don’t have to leave the property to have activities to do—snorkeling, SUP’s, kayaking, etc.

It is an unbelievably beautiful property would love to go back. I think the ownership needs to provide there maintenance teams with more support/equipment. Would of loved to see a better children's activities team/staff during pool and night music.

Great location, beautiful scenery. Staff is friendly and attentive.

We recently returned from our 8th stay at Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort. The staff is fantastic-many have worked at the resort for years, and they do their absolute best to make sure you enjoy your time here. Felipe recognized us immediately and went out of his way to welcome us back again. Thank you, Marissa for remembering our exact order and for always making sure we weren’t parched. Snorkeling is great from the beach. All rooms face the ocean and have balconies or patios. The resort provides bottled water and stocks the mini fridges daily. There is one main pool and three smaller pools throughout the resort. There are a lot of palapas on the beach and beds around the main pool. The resorts grounds are tropical and well maintained. There is an entertainment crew that keeps you busy if you like but will leave you alone if you don’t want to participate. They have Stand Up Paddle Boards (Chris is a fantastic instructor). Food is plentiful – the Akumal International Buffet is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can also eat at the Sushi Bar and Pelicanos Snack Bar at lunch. There are four a la carte specialty restaurants that seat on a first-come, first-served basis. The service and food are excellent in all the specialty restaurants, but we were a little disappointed in the buffet this time. There are also several bars scattered throughout the resort. We love this resort and are already planning to return next May.

We have been to this resort 5 times. We love the small, hometown feel of the resort. This time, however, the food at the buffet was very repetitive from lunch to dinner and day to day. Maybe this was a residual effect from COVID, but, nonetheless, it was disappointing. Other than that, we loved our stay and will return in the future and hopefully the food options will be better.

The resort and staff were great. The rooms were really nice with great view’s. The food was not that great.

I liked that it is a smaller resort and such easy/quick beach access. There is a lot of staff and they are super friendly and helpful.

Staff was awesome and highly recommend getting with excursion staff first thing as they can help u plan out excursions and also great recommendations on swimming with the turtles and other items in Akumal. Would not recommend getting a golf cart in Akumal or or getting a rental car in Cancun. Rental car went from $119 n Orbitz to over $600 at rental car desk. Use GO airport shuttle service and u can pay for both transport to Akumal and airport pickup for departure out of Cancun airport. Very good and reliable!

Very clean property with wonderful staff. Most of them spoke very good English which helped a lot being from USA. Food was very good and after 7 nights stay I can honestly say I didn’t get bored with the offerings.

Beautifully and relaxing place to have a stress free vacation

Like - Property was beautiful, Most of the staff was very nice Dislikes - Quality of food, having to always wait 45 min to an hour to get a table at the restaurants, not able to have reservations for restaurants besides 6pm or 9pm, cleaning staff laughing and talking loudly outside our room at 9am while we are trying to sleep in and even have a do not disturb sign on door

our little peice of paradise, not overcrowded, dont need a big resort to relax. the beach is great with fantastic service, turtles, snorkeling, every room is oceanview. luv this placeand will go back.
