Nice resort with a lots of dining options. My teenager boy enjoyed flow rider and the water park. The reason I will not go back is the beach, is something that I never experience, the seaweeds rotten in the ocean and turn it brown with a very bad odor. The bad smell spread it to the pool area and we could not even enjoy the pool. We loved the coffee shot with the home make chocolate and macaroons.

I have stayed at the Moon Palace over 20 times; the first time in 1996. The resort has aged but still maintains a high level of service; friendly staff; good food choices; and safety. The rooms are getting outdated but I’m glad to see they have begun using an app for service requests. I would rate it 8/10.

Food and entertainment had variety and not boring, many choices but food lack a little more seasoning. The employees at the restaurants and pools were very friendly but there time that they were more attractive to higher tier guests, you could tell the difference in service provided and also the food and drink were somehow of less quality if you were wearing one of the less expensive bracelets. I say tgis because even at customer service they treated you differently, I had paid for an upgrade to the more expensive hotel but was giving the run a round just to assigned me a room. First I was told the upgrades were given less priority and checking would be after 5pm but no later than 6pm, after waiting 30 minutes past 6pm I tried calling both hotel and neither were answering their phone I had a little panic attack from all the stress while talking in person to the front desk employees and the supervisor that took over kept blaming the whole situation on us, insinuating as if we want to stay for free, very unprofessional and uncaring didn't even bother to apologize for the whole situation. At the end the room was giving to us after 7 pm and no one seem to care, we also had resort credit that were not transferred and we kept asking for them and there was no intent to find a way to fix the issue and again they blamed it on us. Horrible customer service from the front desk when you check in they're the nicest but once you're there they treat like * because you bought expedia.

Plenty of restaurants to choose from and could always get a reservation which was a bonus. Super comfy beds, rooms serviced everyday sometimes twice, bringing fresh towels for the next morning. Staff were exceptional, Theresa at the pool looked after us and was brilliant and Jesus Torres in customer services was very helpful. Thank you, we will be back!!

Overall, I did not regret this family vacation at Sunrise Palace Resort. It was a good solid option for a budget family tropical vacation. Would I stay there again? Probably not. Pros: The resort is set up well for families. There is a half decent amount of space in the pool even at the busy times of day. They were sprucing up the grounds daily. Painting hallways, pressure washing around the pool, etc. the arcade was a good place to escape the heat for a bit, and keep the teens from being bored. The evening food options were excellent. Especially, the 2 restaurants at the golf clubhouse. We also saw some cool wildlife on our trips to and from that area. The 24/7 Cafe was quite handy when lunch buffet options were not good enough for our pickiest eater. The glow motion evening show was quite amazing. I definitely suggest catching that one. Cons: pushy membership sales. Our kids really wanted to go to the water park at the Grand hotel. We struggled through a 2 hour process of high pressure "time share" style presentation... Just so the kids could spend 2 hours there another day. We had to say no to 4 people before we allowed to leave, and not told how to find out way back to the hotel. We were just shown the door. After checkout, they attacked us again to buy a voucher for half off our next stay. Also, there were BIG cockroaches that showed up at night in the outdoor areas each night. Lunch and breakfast buffets were just ok. Most night shows were just ok. Lots of lipsync.

Enjoyed the room, large, clean and comfortable. Mini bar stocked with requested drinks. Pool at Sunrise was uneventful. Pool at Nuiz was much prettier, better pool service and it had a slide. I was expecting the amenities I saw in adversment but that was only at The Grand. So disappointed in Sunrise pool area. I will never stay on that part of Cancun, the beach was ugly and smelt like sewage. I understand the seaweed is the cause of the smell but it wasn’t removed but maybe once. The smell was so bad you could smell it at the pool. Nauseating smell
