We enjoyed our stay. The staff was really friendly and went beyond. We were celebrating my husband's birthday, and the Japanese Restaurant staff made it fun for us. Loved the pools and the bars. The rooms were great, but some need some upgrading. The plug in our bathroom didn't work too well, and we need a strong fan. There was a bit of mold on the ceiling. Overall, we would stay here again.

Some of the staff appeared to need additional training. For example, I asked if I could take a plate of food (a hamburger and pizza) to my room for my wife and was told it was fine, but when I attempted to do so, I was harassed by the Captain of the dining staff and security. This created an unnecessarily uncomfortable experience. As a result, we left RIU and checked into the Excellence resort. Although it was more expensive, the difference in service was remarkable, it was worth every dollar. At Excellence, the service was impeccable, and we were never told “no.” Thank you, RIU, for pushing me to discover a resort that truly prioritizes its guests and delivers the quality experience travelers expect

This was my first time at a Riu resort so I didn’t know what to expect. The food was surprisingly good, just as good as some 5 star resorts that I’ve been to. The staff were great and very attentive. Whether you’re at the pool, lobby or dining you can expect them to quickly be at your service. The overall front desk experience though was poor. There’s a bit of confusion when you need to get things handled in your room. Our toilet was not working and it took 3x calling and going to the desk to finally have someone repair it. The rooms are not the greatest, they’re old and the tvs barely work. No smart tvs so bring an iPad. I will say the maid service is great. Our room was always kept clean. The customers at Riu are… interesting. They’re definitely not a high end demographic - more working class and locals. Overall if you want a budget option and just to enjoy food, the beach, pools and get drunk and keep your expectation of an overly luxurious experience low you’ll like it here.

The property is one of at least 5 Riu hotels in the Cancun area. You have access to all of the Riu properties with one being adjacent and events planned at other locations with transportation provided. The property was very clean and the staff very helpful with one exception (the greeter at the Black & White restaurant had an attitude). The food and drinks were good. There are multiple pools with one being the "party" pool with events and music. We enjoyed the stay and would stay here again.

We stayed here for four nights. We had a lot of fun with in the pool areas and it was great that we were able to visit the Riu Cancún for shows and visit their pools. My biggest criticism would be the food/restaurants. The food was mediocre and we had to eat at one restaurant twice because there were 2 hours waits and one restaurant is only open for three hours, 6-9, which barely allows anyone to eat there. Our final night we were able to eat at the “ Black/White” restaurant but we felt extremely rushed after arriving exactly at opening time. We heard the hostess telling everyone who arrived after 6:30pm that no more names were being taken since they already had a long wait and they closed at 9pm. Rooms were great! Views were great! Beach was great!

Loved the friendliness, cleanliness, variety and quality of food, the architecture and decor. Did not like the person who arranged transportation back to the airport. He booked it for the wrong day and then was not helpful or apologetic at all when we were waiting for our private transport that we had already paid him for. Front desk employees overheard and were kind and helpful. Had to be a car service at the last minute for more money. Overall a wonderful place and vacation. Fabulous staff. Entertainment leaves a lot to be desired if you're not in your 20s and don't want to go to the offsite parties . Just simply playing some current (or even 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s) in the theater each night -room to dance-would be super helpful and appreciated. Many people we spoke to agreed. Same w poolside. Just play some hits instead of constant speaking on the microphone (trivia, bingo, or nothing.).
