Riu Cancun All Inclusive

Recent guest reviews

We have stayed in Cancun before but decided to try out a new resort. We chose the Riu Cancun because of the positive reviews it had received along with the appealing pictures of the resort. The resort was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the staff was always willing to help out. The entertainment in the evenings was great as well. There were several pool areas to choose from to sit, including a more secluded pool. The rooms were always clean and the hotel was beautiful. It was within walking distance to popular sites such as Senor Frogs and Coco Bongo which was a plus as well. We were disappointed that 'free wifi' was advertised, but the free wifi was only available in the lobby, bar, restaurants, and pool areas. To get wifi in your room, you needed to pay an extra $50 per phone. There was also no room service, but the wonderful restaurants made up for that!

From start to finish this was the most amazing place I've been. The staff is all friendly and helpful and lively, you never feel any bad vibes from them. All the food at the buffet was great..The pools over looking the ocean were breath taking, great parties and entertainment

Upon checking in to our hotel room I was expecting our room to be a little nicer for All inclusive but when walking into the room the mini bar was not stocked and the bed was not a king size bed as stated in my itinerary. The hotel staff was nice and friendly but I expected a bit better prior to checking out.

The hotel was fantastic- clean, inviting. We stayed 7 days and it turned into tropical Groundhog Day. Leaving the hotel meant constant vendor harassment and a few pick pockets. The excursions should be booked with your grave sent BEFORE you arrive!!

Staff works tirelessly to keep the grounds in amazing shape. Beach was clean with decent amount of chairs. This was our 5th stay at a Riu and I would say our room was a bit dated compared to others we've stayed at. Asked for a king bed and had two doubles shoved together. We don't go there to spend time in the room but we didn't get a great night sleep the whole time we were there. Hotel is in a great location for getting off property and exploring. We would recommend it to our friends and would stay there again ourselves. Traveled from Jan 19 - Jan 23 2017.

I have stayed at Riu palace and Riu las America in the past. This year I wanted to try this Riu. During checking in I was told this is a lower class of the other Riu's. they have no room service, no reservation for restraunt. First come first serve. Restraunts are very small. We waited almost 2 hours. Buffet is same nasty food everyday. They were always out of towels by the pool. No shampoo conditioner in the room. Was told they don't provide them. Save your money don't ever go there.

All the staff was really nice, they treated us very well.

Tip the bartenders and they'll keep making you drinks without you having to ask. All in all the resort was nice, the food wasn't all that great.

We had a great time at this hotel for the four days we were there. The beach is nice and the hotel is in a good location.

Muy limpio los empleados muy amable la habitación muy confortable solo debería modificar la areas de fumar las personas fuman en todos lado para mí que no fumo es muy incomodo

Hotel is nice, food is ok, location is great but the hotel personnel(front desk and manager) very good at hidden charges at the checkout time. Whatcha out for that.

Great beaches, food options are fabulous and diverse, wait staff is friendly. And shopping is just across the street.

Check in was a breeze, incredible view from our room and excellent location to downtown 5min walk...HOWEVER room had a musty/mildew smell and PAPER THIN WALLS. You could hear the conversation next door and at one point we even smelled the neighbors cologne! Front desk does not accept USD, but tips accepted in USD and ATM inside of the hotel was out of order our 7 day entire stay. Our safe battery died and our money and passports locked inside all night, we "noticed" it too late and manager only one with the key. Swim up bar and pool area constantly littered with unused beverage cups, the staff even asked us to help collect them like we worked there. Swim up bar pool had green stuff (algae/mold?) floating in it, pool was cleaned during our stay but still there. Sport bar completely trashed late night, only food available after hours were prepackaged salad, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs and nachos also fruit. Once the food ran out the staff said they are not able to refill it. Night club only open 11-2am, not much else to do after that. Music at the swim up bar cut in and out, I spoke to the manager about it, he gave me 3 excuses and when I pointed out non of them are valid said "I'll look into it" and walked away. Overall would never stay here again.

We just got back from the Riu Cancun 4 days 3 nights. The good: The hotel was beautiful and modern and it was kept clean, and the best part was you did not have to make reservations for dinner days in advance anymore. The beach was clean with hardly no seaweed and the white sand and clear water was beautiful. The steak house was amazing and breakfast was delicious. The bad: day 1 we had a deluxe King room #1236 in the old building that had been remodeled but had to change to the Jr suite King room in the new building due to them giving us 2 twin beds pushed together to make the King and it killed my back and the room had a horrible mildew odor in it. so day 2 moved to room 453. That was a much nicer room. The Palace next door was being remodeled so we could not visit. The entertainment shows were boring and not worth the effort to go watch. The ugly: the staff seemed very over worked and burnt out, we ran into at least 12 employees with bad attitudes. This was our 3rd stay at the Riu chain and we had never e experienced this before. The ladies in the gift shop were the rudest along with the guy at the Check in desk. If you have children I would not bring them here there were a lot of gay couples showing some PDA. There were a lot of other things that happened good and bad but comparing our trip to Cabo and Puerto Vallarta and staying T the Riu there, Cancun was the worst. not sure if I will come back to Cancun again. If I do it will be another hotel chain.

You can't beat a hotel, that is right on the beach. All rooms are ocean front. Rooms are spacious and well maintained. They keep your refrigerator stocked with water, beer and there is liquor to choose from as well. The staff is so patient working non stop to assist you. Love the swim up pool bar. Pools are infinity pools that border the beach. Food was delicious, especially the fresh fish. We went with 7 guys for a bachelor party and it was great. Drink from 10am till 1am what could be better.

We have been a fan of RIU for many years. This hotel is clean and has a great beach , although the food quality at their restaurants has gone downhill . It could be better

It was perfect vacation time, service was great. Love everything during the time my famliy spend there. Thank you so much for everything

No restaurants opened late at night. Sports Bar's foods not up to value at all. Only 1 gourmet restaurant which has good cooking food, all other restaurants are at below average ratings. Rooms are not cool at all, and the hotel controls their temperature so our stay was not pleasant giving the hot temperature in Cancun.

The hotel is great but the room we were in needs to be updated.

beautiful hotel across the way from isla mujeres

Everyone
Quiet pool--two pools viewing the ocean away from all the noisy college kids. View from our room--15th floor out into the ocean! Our bed the last day before we checked out--the wonderful woman in charge of making up our room left us this and rose petals the day before! Isla Mujeres--definitely visit the island, but book your excursions there (highly recommend Garaffon, Dolphin Experience and The Tortugas and Tiburon Gato)
