I liked that the property was in walking distance to downtown where the clubs and restaurants are located. I have stayed at many Riu properties and the food at the Riu Cancun was better than most. The entertainment was enjoyable and the staff were friendly. The beach had little seaweed because the staff were cleaning it daily. I would go back again.

This place is not for people who really want nightlife and amazing service. Everything was self serve, no wait staff at all for pool drinks. Horrible entertainment and nightlife. All pools close at 7pm and it's pretty much dead after that. Beds are horrible. Definitely not an upscale place. Will not return

In my opinion in the RIU Has had the same dining options for the last 20 years. It needs to change it up a bit people get sick of only having options for Italian Japanese steak and buffet. Also not to mention half the restaurants were not open all week long so for at least three or four days you’ll be stuck with only two options plus buffet And let me tell you the buffet gets boring after a couple of days. Because this is adults only I find a lot of spring break, age people here so late at night there was a lot of loud noise from annoying groups of people like college age who can’t handle their alcohol and don’t know how to respect other people

was our first time and cancún and was a pretty good experience overall the only thing that comes with the hotel that was really fun was the free parties at the other resort every other night those were a blast but the snorkeling and all that was not very good and the food was a hit or miss

The property was amazing but the staff was real stick in the muds! They would play 70’s music on the loud speakers and would get upset when people were playing their speakers but not disturbing anyone. The rooms, view and everything else was beautiful.

We had a really good experience at the Riu, only the MTS transportation company wasn’t good. They did not give us the right information when we first arrived and they came to pick up us very early!!! I wasn’t happy with them!! Also the first flight in our way back we sat in a different areas even though we booked as a couple :(

There was some confusion with the Riu Cancun versus th Riu las Americas. they both appeared to be adults only. I got dropped off at the las Americas. And ended up walking to the Riu Cancun room,There was no room service not all of the restaurants were open. The food was OK no big complaint. They did have a 24 hour station that had burgers and hotdog of that sort but it appeared. You have to eat in the area. Plenty of little substations to drink, but you could order any type of food, which was disappointing. The rooms although they were clean, they could stand some renovations. Some of the staff was polite and others just brushed you off.

I love the Riu chain, they are my go to when I travel out of the country. I stayed at the Riu Cancun for 5 days and the only thing that keeps me from giving a 5 star is the humidity in the rooms which made my sheets feel damp my entire stay. I’m not sure anything can be done about that, the hotel sits on the beach and I had a full ocean view room. Although I didn’t care for the damp feeling sheets, I didn’t complain. I traveled alone and I felt safe, my room was clean, the facility was clean, there was plenty of entertainment, the food choices were good, the customer service was excellent. Would I return to this hotel? Yes, I’d return and I would bring my small dehumidifier with me. I’m preparing to book the Riu in the DR and I’ll take my small dehumidifier just to be on the safe side…I just don’t like damp sheets. The Riu chain will continue to receive my business, well figure out the humid rooms…lol.
