Our room 2502 was stuck it the far back corner away from everything. It was a pain to have to put your key in to make the lights work. Each time you took it out you had to reset the clock. The Clovid 19 virus was taking off and the resort taking a hit! Half of the restaurants closed! And little dining options available. It was disappointing as guests. I’m sure devastating for the staff. Ocean Maya is far from everything, unable to walk to any activity outside of the resort. It was quiet, most times we enjoyed that but had our adult children been with us they would have been bored to death. I would visit the resort again if I was looking for a quiet relaxing time.

The property was great. Staff amazing! Will recommend to anyone looking for a vacation place in Mexico.

Not best customer service from staff. Property is very clean though. However utensils weren’t always clean properly

I was disappointed in the beach. I know most people don’t mind but I did not like the sexual innuendos always made by the entertainment staff all the time. I did not like how they made people drink shots of tequila, there are many recovering alcoholics out there that just one drink like this would send them back into alcoholism. I thunk so e of the afternoon games were in poor taste and very vulgar. Overall OMR was a very nice place but I wouldn’t return because of what I wrote. Staff was great, went out of their way to take care of any problem that came up.

I really enjoyed the music at the lively pool and also the pool side activities and games. We looked forward to them everyday whether we participated or just watched. The staff was wonderful from the entertainment staff, bartenders, waiters, waitresses to the photographers. Everyone was so much fun and made us feel to welcome. I enjoyed some of the evening shows being outside instead of the theater. The food was pretty good but I wish there was more options of restaurants (maybe 1 more option for supper). The Mexican restaurant didn't have a gluten free entrée so we didn't go there. We stayed here 10 years ago and would go back again in a heart beat!

We stayed at ocean maya royale for 8 days. The staff is amazing. Everyone of them is friendly and greets you. The entertainment staff was great. Our favorites were Arturo, Marena, Inez but Rodrigo and Naomi were great also. The bartenders were busy but always friendly and more than accommodating. Some of our favorites were Eber, Johny, Olle and Miguel. Ana was one of favorite servers in the main outside space. So very nice. Rooms were cleaned early and cleaned well. Nice spacious rooms. We loved seeing the animals roaming the grounds. We just loved this place and will be back again.

Pros: -Rooms set up in little cottages holding 4-6 rooms which kept noise level down -Housekeeping done dependably and daily -Attentive staff -Hotel security was sound (patrolled gate into/out of hotel property; staff checking vendor names whenever transporting guests on/off property) -Quick A/C service to fix cooling issue (within 1 hr of reporting) -Variety of options at La Hacienda buffet restaurant. Did not try other restaurants except poolside one since buffet met our needs Cons: -Beachfront is limited (recommend walking 2 minutes south to the next resort; many guests freely went back and forth along the beach from different resorts) -Smokers at the public hotel spaces were noticeable -Limited seating at the beach cabanas (guests would reserve their cabanas but would disappear for hours at a time or not arrive until late morning) -Constant selling of Privilege upgrades and Spa services In response to previous reviews: -No beach seaweed smell noted -No problems with mosquitoes inside of rooms -Fellow guests ranged from 20 somethings to 60 somethings Recommend: -Book travel from airport to hotel ahead of time (you will be overcharged if you use a taxi/shared shuttle when you arrange it in person) -No need to upgrade to Privilege (able to get beach cabana if arrive at beach by 10-11a; did not miss out on any food I had otherwise wanted) -Going by taxi to/from hotel to Playa del Carmen is $50 USD roundtrip. Souvenirs are cheaper there

Nice open layout, smaller villas not the big multi story type place. Very easy to roam around and relax. Not happy we ended up spending an additional $250 above and beyond our “all inclusive package”. We really wanted to chill on our balcony rather than participate in the planned activities. They charge $3/beer if you want to add some unopened cans to your personal fridge. Only one choice in beer, full flavor I think dos equies (sp?) and could only get it in an 8 oz glass. No trays, platters or pitchers to help get beer back to the room. Idk....the last all inclusive I stayed at they kept our room fridge stocked with cold cans.

Pool area and beach were great! Some of the jetted areas in the smaller pool weren't working, but it didn't bother us. The grounds overall are well maintained and there's lots of interesting wildlife that wanders throughout! We had a great time!

Fantastic all-inclusive resort with great food options, service and amenities! Just the perfect sized resort and close to Playa del Carmen

I liked the pool area. Rooms were very nice!! Very clean. Beach had too many rocks from the reef. Many options for food, but the food it’s self was not great. I wanted more authentic Mexican food. Too many people trying to sell me excursions or spa services while I was trying to relax at the beach and pool. Too Many people trying to sell me things, and they work on the property, which was annoying. The worst thing was the raccoons!!! There were too many, one raccoon jumped on a table where a man was eating outside the restaurant next to the pool. The birds were too aggressive too.

We loved everything about this resort. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious. They put on great shows every night. There is a lot of cute animals openly roaming this resort( we loved the coatis and the deer). Entertainment staff was great as well. The resort itself is very beautiful. We would definitely stay here again.

The property and amenities were wonderful for the money spent. What I didn’t like was that a cleaning service person stole my dress that was hung up in the closet and cash from our safe! When this was addressed to the staff she asked if I was sure it was gone and then had to search our entire room including unpacking both of our bags. It made me feel like they didn’t believe us.

More choice of restaurants . The music should be Latin instead of English,we listen enough English at home.

We had an amazing stay at Ocean Maya! The property was very well maintained and we saw workers cleaning, trimming bushes, powerwashing the sidewalks, painting, watering flowers, etc. on a daily basis. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We called Guest Services for a plumbing issue and they were at the room within 10 mins. We also called and requested extra bottled water several times and it was delivered in 10 mins. We felt that all of the workers were very attentive to the needs of the guests! Some reviews we had read prior to our vacation complained about the seaweed on the beach. Yes, there was seaweed, however, the hotel staff (Dino & Pedro) were on the beach every morning at 630am to start raking the sand and hauling the seaweed away. They worked tirelessly each day and all day to keep the beach in front of Ocean Maya CLEAN! We walked the beach in both directions, left and right, of the Ocean Maya property and those resorts did not have anyone cleaning the seaweed from their properties and their properties looked awful because of it. Ocean Maya's beach property was beautiful and clean because of Dino & Pedro's hardwork. We tipped them several times because we appreciated the work they did all day long so we could enjoy our beach vacation. We spent 95% of our time on the beach and in the ocean. The ocean water was gorgeous.

Best bang for your buck! We normally stay at Secrets properties but we booked this as a quick anniversary trip. We were blown away by the service and amenities!! The privilege upgrade is definitely worth the money. We really enjoyed the privilege lounge and all of the restaurants were fantastic! The room was nice and clean. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help. There were lots of wildlife around the resort which was fun to watch. Plenty to do on the resort. We did not see any seaweed and the beaches were clean but a bit rocky. Couple of bummers were they don’t have Corona or Coca-Cola products. And the mosquitos are terrible. They do their best to spray multiple times a day but the resort is in the jungle and it is what it is. You do have to pay the small tax when you get there but it was close to 1 US dollar a day and it goes to help with the seaweed issue. Make sure you bring plenty of your own bug spray and sunscreen as the gift shop is outrageous and will charge you almost 30 dollars for a bottle of sunscreen. The fire show and the couples show was our favorite. Mikes coffee was the best coffee we have ever had! Try the mocha frappe...you won’t be disappointed! Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back!

The Italian and the Hibachi Grill were really good food overall the property was good the beach was just okay the entertainment was excellent very clean place staff was good when I go back probably

Dear guest, Thank you for taking the time to write your opinion. We would like to mention that due the resort size you can access to any area in among 5 to 7 minutes walking, also that in the resort we have a sport center where you can book some activities such snorkel, wave runners, Catamaran, and 10 minutes away from the resort there is a beautiful lagoon and we have taxi service if you want to go downtown or a concession if you want to book an outdoor excursion, besides the hotel daily activities. Regarding Coronavirus situation, we all sorry about about what is happening and we are doing our best to provide the best possible service. We hope to see you again when you look for a relaxing time at Playa del Carmen.
