It is a nice family resort close to Xcaret , Exlore, Xsenses, with beautiful beach, an ok food ( not the best, but eatable ) and horrible check in! It took 1 1/2 hours fir check in standing in humid and hot lobby . without air conditioner . We arrived at 1 pm, got to check in at 2:30, was told to go to eat at the Buffett and come back room key at 3 on. Had to stand in line for another 40 minutes to get room key. If you want to use safe in your room, it is 2usd per day. After the check in, everything was good. Pools are nice. Nightly show are good.. There are 4 aka carte restaurants. One was closed. 3 others are own one at a time alternating days: Friday- Mexican, Saturday - Mediterranean , Sunday- Italian , Monday - Mexican again and so on. No reservation . First come first serve. When one table finish eating, the will clean it very fast and sit another family. Italian restaurant service is extremely slow. It took us almost two hours to eat there. Resort is very clean . Bathroom, lobby, pools, beach are constantly getting cleaned. I would stay again for the right price.

Very boring. They had no activities going on. Same food everyday. We had to leave just to get new food. The waiters would ask for tips. Yes I tip but don’t tell me I have to.

I liked the tropical grounds it was very well maintained. What we did not like was that there was not air conditioning hardly at all on the grounds. I think you could afford to put large fans and or air conditioning units in the lobby, buffet restaurant,(especially very very bad to try to eat in there) and the reservation restaurants. Food was the same thing every day and night. You must upgrade the food also. The bars and bartenders we all great!! We will probably not return to this hotel again due to the air conditioning problem. I heard m a lot of people complaining about food and heat!! We are from Texas so we can stand the heat, but not at a resort like this. Sorry!!

More restaurants, Pool deep enough for adults, don’t water down guacamole

All the staff are very friendly, very good food, rooms very clean. I love this hotel, the music show is amazing... My daughter lost her cellphone in the buffet area but the captain help me find it... Thank you so much!

First of all let me say this: this is not a luxury hotel. If you want to be pampered, and will only accept the finest facilities and food, then you are better off paying for one of the mega resorts. That being said, the Wyndham Maya is a wonderful little getaway. Upon arrival, we received excellent service. When I asked about the possibility of an upgrade, Israel, our desk host, surprised us by switching us to an ocean-view suite! The staff are friendly and accommodating. The grounds and facilities are spotless. The beach is awesome, there are plenty of coconut palms for shade. Beach chairs are clean and plentiful. Our room was awesome! A comfortable, king size bed, a balcony, and even a small hot tub! AC worked great. Though not a new resort, the staff works very hard at keeping the Maya looking great. Now for the downside. Except for breakfast, the buffet food is average at best. We only stayed three nights, and had reservations at the Mexican restaurant one night. (It was awesome!) If we would have been forced to eat the buffet for several nights, it would have been unpleasant. The snack bar has burgers, hot dogs, and fries 24 hrs a day, and they are tasty. We visit Mexico often, and realize that it is not the US. AC is not as common, and we accept that. But the buffet is too hot. If they can’t air condition it, it should be moved to an open-air location. Eating there is uncomfortable. Another issue: the pools close at 8. Too early. Still I would give it a 4/5.

Pros: Animition crew was amazing, The shows were really good, Room was big. Beach is very nice & Its a good location. Cons: Pool is incredibly small, paid so many extra fees, mini fridge in the room was never restocked. The food was horrible in the buffet, snack bar and all of the restaurants. We ate outiside of the resort almost every single day. We had to buy our own bottles of water everyday. Housekeeping only made the beds. You have to pay for any small stains on the linens/towels so be careful with that. & You couldn’t adjust the Ac. Overall, I would never come back to this resort. I do not recommend it. The only thing that I truly enjoyed was the entertainment staff and the beach.

Best hotel I ever had! The food is very good with lot of choices ! very clean hotel! The animation team is great, we met Myriame a very nice person we would like to come back and we hope she will still be there! What else to say... We definitely recommend this hotel for your vacantions in Playa Del Carmen!

The front desk staff were incredibly rude and disrespectful. Concierge staff did not have accurate information when booking the excursions.

Room too hot. No AC at the cafeteria. No AC at the lobby. Food was simply bad. I did not like that they separate their guests at the beach depending on the room they got. The pool area was very disappointing. Employees were nice and friendly. Rooms were very well cleaned.
