The pricing, good location, good breakfast, except the entrance,
It was hard to find the hotel because the streets are closed. When you call the hotel they don’t answer. I had to keep calling until I got a hold of an employee.
the staff were very friendly and helpful especially Rodrigo, Damian and Marvin
The folks working here were very accommodating. Great location to everything. We had a good stay. Excellent value for the money.
Se hizo un deposito por bebidas del refrigerator en en cuanto no se consumieron y solo me regresaron El deposito completo .. que Mal de vieron Las personas de recepcion.. No recomendado hacen trampa..que Mal ...
The location and the staff were absolutely great, specially our housekeeper Fidel n one of the night guards, sorry forgot his name... HOWEVER ... OMG the curtains in the room were absolutely gross! They have a sin block curtain which it's great for sleeping but e were terrify to touch it, it looked like mold was growing in it n it as jut plain gross. They need to wash them or change them ASAP. The bathroom could use some bleach to get the mold off around the windows n the shower isn't the greatest bc the water doesn't go down the drain quick enough it's weird. Everything else was good.
The only thing I didn’t like was the door lock to the room. It took some time for me to learn how to open it. Had to turn key and to push the door open simultaneously. Not as easy as it sounds.
The property was right on the beach. Close to the Cozumel ferry pier. Right close to fifth avenue. Very nice staff, rooms very clean and very quiet. We lived the place. There is no entrance to the property from a street. You must go through the sand to get to it but it wasn’t to bad. We will stay there again for sure.
Our check in and check out experience, conducted by the same employee, was disappointing. His service was very flat and unwelcoming. When he escorted us to our room, there was no offer to help us with our luggage. He never explained the “guidelines” of the complimentary breakfast and charged us for our entire meal both mornings. We ordered Mexican style breakfast, and were told by our waiter we would pay “just a little more” for it. He was unable to call a taxi for us. We have stayed here several times beginning in 2007. Unfortunately we are unable to recommend a stay here anymore.
Very convenient. 5th Ave shops, bars, entertainment is one block away and 1.5 miles long. Lots to do for all ages. Free breakfast too! Many great restaurants and we found them reasonable. Fun vacation!
Playa Maya is a small 20 room hotel directly on the beach. The breakfast is included with your room rate. The small restaurant is convenient for lunch, cocktails and dinner. The hotel staff treats you like royalty. Fifth Avenue shopping and restaurants are located directly behind the hotel. There is no better place to stay when your are in Playa Del Carmen.
Since the first moment it was not good. There is not way to get in other than the beach thru the sand. The receptionist was rude and did not help on anything. And there were cockroaches around the pool and dinning area. The beach is not suitable for swimming because of rocks on the area. Definitely not coming back.
The hotel management need to take back a management class ASAP. No people skills whatsoever, poor judgment when dealing with guests. Apparently "we" tried to sneak in our two kids by putting in our reservation that both of them were 5 years old. So because they are 14 & 15 they made us pay another $357 USD. I went back to the Orbitz website and they stated that kids would pay the same rate whether they are 1 or 17 as long as they aren't older than 17. Second, we saw cockroaches on the hallway every single night we got there! I visited the hotel with another family, their toilet got clogged up and a person from the front desk went in with a plunger and handed it to my family member to unclog it himself!! We felt harassed the whole time we were there, they had a guy from the front desk waiting for us at least 4 nights to get us for something else!! Truly unpleasant place, save yourself a nightmare and go somewhere else!!
The Hotel was one of the nicest parts of our trip to Playa Del Carman. Staff is great, has the feel of a small boutique hotel. Food at beach bar/restaurant was outstanding. Pool is in a bit of a awkward place and the only entry via the beach a little strange but kind of adds to this places charm. My only warning isn't about the hotel but Playa Del Carman in general. Don't go if you don't like people aggressively selling you things. We stopped walking down 5th Ave, the main attraction, due to the amount of people approaching us. We had people partly block our path, attempt to purposely anger us to get a response. During one diner in a nice restaurant, street side , in a little over one hour, we were approached by two street bands, two people selling flowers, two selling photos, one selling hats they plopped on our heads, and a woman selling who knows what who got angry with us when we no thanks.
Arriving mid day to have no way into a lobby as the staff had to carry by bags around a hotel in construction I pondered? Hotel is squeezed in and front beach a little crowded, BUT!!!! The next morning when served breakfast on White Sand, no one there, superior soft music, sight breeze, swaying palm trees, I had to pinch myself to ponder,,,, "Is this real?" and it just got better and better every day. Staff was amazing and the scenery for a single guy to turn 62, I was in heaven..
It was a great experience. Great staff, good food and excellent location. Be prepared to walk on the beach to reach the front desk with your belongings when you check in/out.

Hola estimado sr.

Hello, Thanks for your comments and just sorry to hear you had an issue with your door/key! We're always trying to make sure there are no such bothersome glitches for people. On the other hand, very glad to hear that that was the only thing you didn't like about your stay with us! Hopefully we'll see you back here soon. best, Stephen Ryberg Playa Maya

Good morning, and thank you for posting your comments, although of course we were sorry to hear you were dissatisfied on this visit! I'm not sure what happened with our long-time receptionist Riky, as he reported that he was not aware of any issues with him until he advised you of your pending breakfast charges at check-out and you became upset. Our menus do state which 4 combinations are included for free, and our system in that regard has not in fact changed since 2004, so it would have been the same on all your previous visits. Our restaurant manager, Raciel, also indicates that at least your husband understood this after the first morning, as a result of talking with staff prior to the second morning (when you again ordered specialty breakfasts). Perhaps you were not present then and thus were not aware of that? In any event, I understand that you initially thought only the difference would be charged for your special order items, and we'll be quite happy to eliminate that issue by mailing you a check for the total in question of 12.52 USD, if you will just message us with the address we should mail that to. Out of concern for fairness, I'd just like to note here that a point you did not mention, which was that we provided you a free upgrade to an ocean view room with king bed upon your arrival, a 50.00 USD value to you. So we hope you enjoyed that. Well we'll wait to hear from you re that address to get that all resolved! best, Stephen Ryberg Playa Maya
