We love visiting the Tequila - it was our 3rd time.
Didn’t receive welcome drink had to ask for it. Not really much going on on the property. Other than that very clean loved my room.

Not a huge resort but it has all the amenities to have a wonderful time. Plus you get to know the staff which is always a plus.
Would like to see Shuffleboard return I was knocked to the ground on October 11 and I asked for a wheelchair to be brought to my room at 0700 October 12 and nobody came Miguel is aware of my fall while having lunch at the Yucatan Also on October 3 we were told that our reservation was over and I had to take the hotel confirmation to the new female manager (Josslyn) I think her name was She said it was a system error but only a human enters the info into the reservation data… she should have come to my room and not me going to the front desk… we’ve been coming to the Tequila for 15 years now and have never had these issues before… I’m not sure we will return again now… she did send a bottle of champagne to our room but we don’t drink…thanks anyway… she is not a good manager but Miguel was excellent
The Riu Tequila was disappointing in many ways. You get what you pay for. Hind sight, we would have gone elsewhere. And foresight, we won’t be back.
Beach was beautiful. Room was clean and every time it was cleaned they made it look nice by adding special touches such as towel critters and balloons. Never had to ask for water or mini bar to be restocked they always did it. Lots of choices for restaurants and bars .
It was very clean and organized. Will definitely return.
I have been visiting Playacar monthly for over a year . I stay only at RIUs, Palace Mexico , Yucatán and now for my first time at Tequila. It is the farthest from the beach , being located across the street from the beachside resorts , but they provide a 7 person golf cart transport starting at 8 am and running every 5-10 minutes. Rooms and food are similar to , but slightly inferior, to the other RIUs mentioned . For example , RIU Palace Mexico has bathtubs in addition to showers , while Tequila only has showers in each room. And food choices , though still very good , are less at Tequila compared to the other resorts . I may be wrong , but Tequila also seems like a larger resort than the others . It also has a lot of wildlife including Zerekes , Iguanas , and Coatis .
I liked the food what I didn’t like is that they don’t have room service and the tv is out dated because you can’t conect Netflix or any other movie source.
Riu never dissaponts. Fun, great food and service. Bar tenders work their butts off, these people deserve a raise. Front desk was able to accomodate my special request for a closer room for my mom with osteoarthritis. Only minor complain is that I called front office for them to provide body lotion and they never came. Our stay was pleasent, we keep coming back. We have been to riu playacar and palace. Riu Tequila is quite nice as well for a little bit cheaper price.
