My family and I stayed at this resort for a week. We were traveling with an infant, a 6yr old and 4 yr old. My kids really enjoyed the kiddie pool. However the beach was not as nice since it had a lot of seaweed. Overall our stay was good. The room that we stayed at was not the greatest. They said we would have a garden view but I wouldn’t call it a garden and the mini fridge in our room did not keep the drinks cold at all. My husband would have to go get ice to keep his beer cold.

The hotel was great. The lobby area could use some furniture upgrade, but other than that the facilities were very well kept, extremely clean and beautiful. The pools are amazing, big, clean and never feel crowded. The kids water park may be in need of new slides but the ones that are there still work really well and my kids had an amazing time. The water park is super fun and varied for kids 3-12 I would say. We enjoyed the restaurants, the buffet, the amazing views of the ocean and the pools so much. The food in general was very good for an all inclusive. My oldest kid and my husband did the Go karts twice and they loved it. Also visited the bowling alley and arcades at the Maya Mall. The beach at the Maya Palace is rocky but just a couple of hotels down it is much better and we could enjoy it there. Very calm and beautiful. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, great bathroom too. We did pay for Premium level Junior Suite Oceanfront. We got a great room location as well, facing the pools and the ocean. In general our experience was really positive and we are already planning to come back.

Check-in took an hour, only three people working up front. But the facility was amazing. Food and buffets were ok. Regarding The service everyone was nice and welcoming. The beach had some seaweed but the last day was clean. They are doing their best to keep the resort clean and safe. Already planning for my next visit. I do recommend to family and friends.

We stayed at the Palace resort and were very disappointed. I booked a Pool Premium Room, but my reservation was switched to a Junior Suite, and despite many attempts, nothing was done. As a premium member, I expected at least a decent room, but ours was outdated and poorly maintained. One sink was broken, the other drained slowly, and the shower pressure was so weak I never felt clean. The room smelled of mold, the trash was full on arrival, and the twin mattresses were completely worn out. The bathroom door had no lock and had grooves that allowed visibility inside, making it uncomfortable when sharing with kids. Housekeeping staff were great, but they couldn’t fix the larger issues. The buffet offered the same food daily, with fresh fruit being the only highlight. À la carte restaurants had strict dress codes not practical for a Caribbean vacation, and the “Brazilian” restaurant was far from authentic. Pools were the best part of the resort, but the beach was full of seaweed (the Barceló mall beach was much clearer). Evenings were boring, with the pool closing at 8 and only a theater dance show as entertainment — not engaging, especially for kids. Staff were kind and helpful, but overall, this resort is outdated, poorly maintained, and offers little for families. As a premium member, I saw no extra benefits. Would I return? Sadly, no.

They never gave us the sparkling wine daily we even asked they said they would and didn’t. They are very strict with 17 year olds. Would not let him play mini golf, bowl or get towels without an adult. Some staff were very friendly some seemed annoyed to be helpi by guests.

The property itself is very good maintained, beautiful and very clean. The resort is huge!!! I dont have problems with walking, but if you do it might be a disadvantage. It took me about 9-10 min to get to the breakfast area from my room( with kids and older mother). The pool is enormous and fun! The rooms are very spacious, AC worked well, clean, beds are comfortable! The stuff is hard working and very pleasant. I didnt like the beach, rocky.So be careful. The food is good, plentiful. You cant take out the food out of the restaurant, so if someone cant come to eat ( my daughter was sick for a day), you have to order room service, which isnt free! I mean, one of the reason that resort is clean, that the food is only in designated area. I understand that. But then in my opinion, room service supposed to be free. Ok. The biggest complaint! I was out of my sunscreen and desperately needed to buy one, so was ready to spend double on it as usual in the resort. Ok, well, one sunscreen ( banana boat spray) cost $ 50!!!!!! There is absolutely nothing around ( no supermarket or smth like that right outside the resort), so I had no choice. I felt stupid. I asked around in a few shops in the resort and they all would sell it for 45-50$. Then we decided to go to cenotes which is across the street, but it seemed dangerous to cross the street with the kids so I decided to hire a cab. 0.8 miles cost me 27$ each way!!! When I asked why is it so much, they told me its tariffs from the hotel

Amazing resort. The grounds are beautiful. The food and drinks were great. Awesome pool. We had an incredible time, which was almost ruined by the terrible and extremely slow check in process and very rude front desk staff. They are all redeemed by the one kind lady at the front desk, that went above and beyond to be hospitable, when all the rest of the front desk staff could care less about the guests.

It was hard to make dinner reservations as everything was pretty much booked. I tried to book ahead of time but was told i needed to book in person and they did not do phone reservations. When i did go in to book in person i was able to book for only 2 dinners and every other day was fully booked. Other than that everything was amazing. We loved snorkeling at the beach and saw many tropical fish at the resort beach! My kids loved swimming at the beach for the most part! The pools were big and great as well!

The property at Barcelo is beautiful with a traditional Mexican vibe and well maintained landscape! Be prepared to walk though because the place is huge but there is a shuttle bus to take you around. The hotel and rooms are very clean and staff is helpful with any needs. The beach was beautiful and drinks were good all around. Bartenders were attentive and most were friendly. Food at the buffets could use some help. Nothing at the buffets was very flavorful. Just a bit of pepper or salt to some food would make a big difference! The assortment of food at the buffets was good though. Reservations for other restaurants is a must! They book fast so I advise doing this shortly after arrival. Food at the restaurants is much better and the waiters and waitresses are very good and friendly! A major con is the check in and check out process and anything else at the front desk. There are usually only two people working that do everything. If you have a problem with your room etc you have to wait in the same line as everyone and it can be time consuming! For a hotel of that size there should be at least 4 people available to help with guess needs. Overall our family (2 adults, 2 teens) had a wonderful stay and would recommend this place!
