We just returned from an 8-day vacation in Villa Del Mar. The condo is well appointed, the grounds are beautifully landscaped and maintained, the pool and beach are lovely and the condo is located within a few minutes walk to the Town Square which has several good restaurants and shops. Beach chairs and loungers around the pool and on the beach were always plentiful, and the snorkeling, especially out past the breaker wall and towards the Omni hotel to the north, was decent (although you'll find more a larger abundance and variety of sea life other places in Mexico). The condo itself had a great view of the pool (we spent many early evenings just sitting on the balcony enjoying the ocean breezes), was well laid out, with a convenient third bathroom and washer/dryer and it was great having coolers and towels provided to take to the beach. We did encounter several minor things that, well not earth shattering, did impact our impression of the unit:
1) The guest bathroom shower did not drain well - it filled up within seconds of turning the water on and you ended up showering in ankle deep soapy water. This didn't happen in the master bedroom shower, so we're wondering if it's something that can be fixed.
2) There was no hair dryer in the guest bathroom. For the $20 it would cost, it would be a nice convenience for your renters so that a single hair dryer doesn't have to be passed between the two bathrooms.
3) We used the kitchen several times, mostly for breakfast. We found several dirty utensils in the drawers by the refrigerator when looking for a whisk, including two pairs of scissors that were kind of disgusting. Also, having a roll or two of paper towel would have been nice (most VRBO properties we've stayed at provide at least one roll initially).
4) There were no paved walkways all the way to the pool or the beach. While not a big deal for most, it does make it more challenging for people using canes, crutches or walkers. One of our party had just had knee replacement surgery and the uneven grassy expanse that you have to cross to get to the pool was challenging.
4) The directions and informational sheets that Ken sent us in advance of our stay need updating. Information regarding the WiFi access was inaccurate, and the blue passes that were referenced in the info (needed for pool and beach access) apparently don't exist because we didn't get them.
Other than that, it was a lovely place to stay and we'd rent again. Thanks Ken!!
