Very large property laid out much differently than the many other riu resorts we have visited, loved it.
Nice setup of resort. The sister resort was right next door which made it convenient to other pools and parties. Nice pools and good food. Resort was always spotless. Loved how the palm trees lined the beach. Highly recommend it.

The.grounds are beautiful and always clean. The beach is expansive and plenty of chairs. The only downside is that it is far away from the town and hotel zone making transportation costly and not many options. The staff was always friendly and make you feel welcome.
This is a wonderful property! You always saw employees cleaning different areas. Wait staff anticipated your every need. Food was good, with lots of selections to choose from! Sister hotel right next door!
This resort is really a little piece of heaven. The property is extremely clean and the staff are polite and kind. There are so many activities to participate in that you will never get board and the evening shows are a must! The food was wonderful and there are multiple specialty restaurants but they are first come first serve so you should be early, but if you don't get specialty restaurant the buffet offers a great variety of fresh delicious food. The beach is beautiful, nice and clean with clear waters. I can't wait to visit again.
Overall a very nice property, very friendly staff, lots of entertainment every day, beautiful landscaping. The specialty restaurants were not great at all. We felt that the main buffet was the best option to dine in. Also property very far from town and any where else.
I didn’t like that was no umbrellas at the beach , and the bathrooms are very far from restaurants , everything else was really nice and the Mexican restaurant was amazing
I loved my stay, the hotel was clean and mostly well kept, food was delicious and varied, the staff and services were amazing. services at the pool was constant, the waitress team were constantly making rounds and making sure you were served. The entertainment team awesome, there was always some activity going on, all psyllium family oriented. I can’t wait to come back!

Total disaster vacation. Our flight was canceled due to American Airlines issue.. which wasn’t the properties fault.. let me tell you something Don’t book any riu property through Expedia or orbitz.. they will not accommodate the change due to flights.. and do not work together to provide the nights you paid for if a change occurs. They both point fingers at each other.. and I spent hours of my vacation time attempting to resolve.. the worst experience ever due to both Expedia and riu .. and on top of this I’m a platinum client.
Couldn't rave more about our stay at Riu Palace Costa Mujeres. Found the staff to very accommodating and eager to help. The greatest shout out to the entertainment crew, my kids loved all the games they played daily.
Need more restaurants, more daily events that provide food and drink around the pool area and beach. Need more options for snacks in the cafe. Make gym bigger with more equipments and free weights. Towels should be abundant and not by per person. More bars/grill area.
If you’re familiar or used to 5 star all inclusive experiences you will be incredibly disappointed with this place. Don’t bother. The ratings are misleading to say the least. You get what you pay for. The Riu Palace Costa Mujeres is a 3.5 star all inclusive resort, not 5. It’s long but simple: 5 star resorts have breakfast and lunch a la carte, in-room service a la carte (including breakfast), butler service, aromatherapy, designer toiletries, in room Nespresso or Keurig machines, new bottles of alcohol of your choice, made-to-order drinks at dinner, full pool/beach service, beach bars, palapas, Bali beds, pools with swimmable temperatures, and the list goes on. This Riu does not offer any of the above. These are all facts. Now my opinion: hated the property’s design and layout. It’s like a swampy never ending maze. Elevators poorly placed at the far ends of each side of the resort. No elevator in the middle. Poor ventilation in room hallways and cheap looking materials. Overall low quality amenities. Beds are uncomfortable. Pools were HOT. And overall properly seemed poorly up-kept considering it’s fairly new. In general, aside from the sluggish front desk people, everyone else was great. Staff works hard for the most part. No complaints there. I actually also liked the food at the buffet. We made the best out of our stay here. Just the resort isn’t setup as a 5 star, period.
Property and staff amazing! Only problem was when checking in they say no reservations for restaurants is necessary but every restaurant requires a reservation and turned us away 2 nights in a row. Also breakfast doesn’t have a lot of meat options like turkey products. I puked comeback to rui overall because everything else was amazing.
Our family had a wonderful time back In September (I know very late review) this is definitely a family resort. Food was great, so many options. We went to all the restaurants but found the buffet had everything that we all liked which was easy accessible! Drinks could be little better, but I can’t complain. The only 1 thing we dislike were the queen beds, so uncomfortable to the point we had back pain! Resort is very clean, staff is constantly cleaning and making sure everything looks good at the restaurant including the buffet. I was very surprised how clean this resort was for the amount of people that were there! Nay at the pool was great, she was very attentive and so pleasant
