We felt like family here, the staff are so warm and caring for our needs, we felt like we chose the absolute best hotel. The photos dont do the resort justice in truth, its so much prettier in person. The grounds are stunning and peaceful regardless of where you are. We stayed for three nights at the hotel, and tried to take advantage of every minute here, and we enjoyed every second. The room was huge, well appointed, cleaned every day and the cleaning ladies folded all or my clothes every day and organized all of my makeup, it was all just wonderful.
Seriously one of the most beautiful places I have ever been! Beyond its external beauty, the people who live and work on the island, both in the hotel but also around restaurants, fishers, are so kind and friendly. The service and views at the hotel are awesome. The food was DELICIOUS we ate and ate and ate at the restaurant, the beach, in the room, the food was fantastic. The room was fine, it was big and got very cold when we wanted, we slept well. This is truly luxury in more ways than one, we loved everything the hotel offered.
Beautiful, breathtaking, clean and so nice Nice people!! A huge garden and everything so organized , we were living on my dream tree house on a beach. Near the center and in front of a great beach. The breakfast os perfect with lots of fresh and tropical fruits , coconut and almond milk, cereal and seeds, just what a healthy person or a vegan desires. Lots of vegan options during other meals . The staff are lovely, always smilling and taking good care of you. Words cant describe what you feel when you are at the lobby !!! Paradise 💚 highly recommend
A really super nice and great hotel with very friendly staff! Everywhere that you look, everything is greenery or blue water, the facilities are beautiful, and our room was very comfortable and bright and happy feeling. Upon checking-in, we were presented with a delicious drink, while we received information about the hotel and the surroundings. We really appreciated that the restaurant served a nice combination of traditional local Mexican food, and also some more basic American dishes. There is so much to do in the area if you want to explore nature or do activities or sports, but we preferred to lay by the water and listen to the ocean and birds. This is truly a 5-star hotel in my opinion, and we will likely return in the future.
My husband and I had a terrific experience here for 6 days, 5 nights. The staff were all very good and had wonderful customer service. The room was beautiful as was the entire property. The included breakfast was delicious. We loved how nature surrounded us the entire time. The location was perfect - close enough to easily walk to town yet also right on the beach. The areas for improvement, for us, would be some sort of shade structures to lay under right on the beach and hammocks to use (many of the other hotels had these). We had two chairs and a hammock outside of our room, which was nice, but it would have been great to have them by the beach. The service on the beach area was okay, but we were not on the all inclusive plan, so that's probably why we weren't served as often. That didn't really bother us. The only other area for improvement was the price (high) and size (small) of the alcoholic drinks. In retrospect, we should have just bought beer in town and put in our fridge (although the fridge never got really cold). We did have a bottle of tequila, but with no options for ice storage, and some limited mixers, it really didn't hit the spot like a cold margarita did. Now that we know better what to expect and how to easily navigate Holbox, we'd definitely wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
Enjoyed playing in the pool and had great fun watching the iguanas, who roam around the property. Our room had more than enough space for the 2 of us, it was bright and looked great and cleaning ladies were very thorough. We walked around a lot and also used the golf carts to get around. They can be a bit bumpy so hold on tight! The food was great and we always enjoyed our meals too. The staff were very friendly always said hi and made us feel welcome. It’s a safe and friendly environment for a quiet, simple type of break and the views and nature is very special on Holbox.
Top class and very friendly staff. Excellent maintenance of the areas, all lush and green and very clean and well kept, a total joy to spend time in. Amazing food, highly recommend having all meals at the hotel, we did and are glad. The attention to every detail is evident in the care of the hotel overall, as well as in the service in the bar and restaurant. We spent a really great few days and can hope to return again soon.
I just returned from a 6 day stay at this hotel. If you are looking at booking at this hotel KNOW THIS, especially if you have young children. Our first day of breakfast my son had 20 mosquito bites in 5 minutes. There is a lagoon/mosquito hatchery in the middle of the hotel and I think that is the main reason why they have excessive mosquitoes by the outside dining area. We wanted to leave to a different hotel but they wouldnt give us any type of refund so we decided to stay, we arent rich! We had to eat breakfast inside with the fans on us. They didnt affect my wife or myself too much but my son was covered from the first day. We kept an eye on him the whole time and had to covered him with repellent, which cant be good. We tried to avoid the hotel when we could during the day. And sometimes you wouldnt want to be there anyways as they sell Day Passes. Groups of people come between the hours of 1-4pm to fill up and soil the only small pool this hotel has. I say small pool because this is a big hotel and if they are gonna be selling day passes it should be bigger than it is. And finally they ripped us off. I didnt have the last night of our vacation booked. Even with the mosquitoes, moving to another hotel lugging the baby and luggage it was easier to stay in the same hotel. We talked to Raphael, they didnt have the same room we were in available so we had to change rooms. He said he was gonna give us a deal (10% off) on a Superior Jr Suite because of the hotels mosquito problem. It was EXPENSIVE with the 10% off the total was 240usd for the night. I had a Jr Suite for 130usd per night the previous 5 nights, so this was almost double! We were assured it was a really nice room and we splurged, we wanted to enjoy our last night. Later that day just curious I checked their website and to my surprise the Superior Jr Suite was 190usd regular price (and it was that price every other day for the whole week) I felt bad and I felt cheated. I talked to Raphael and he lied to my face and said the prices go up and down when clearly they do not go up that much within the course of a day. Before I booked I was checking the price all the time and it never changed. I cant believe we were led to believe that we were getting a discount when actually we were being over charged. When I brought it up they didnt care to do anything about it. The management at the hotel does not care about customer experience or satisfaction. I work in tourism also in Mexico and I can tell you these people just care about money. I would recommend staying somewhere else!! Front desk and management need to take a course in customer service. We also wish they would use less plastic, lots of plastic cups and water bottles. There were lots of cigarette butts everywhere the hotel and beach, it would be good to have ashtrays and maybe signs so people remember to be responsible. To not be totally negative the first room was great, good bed, very clean thanks to Ivonne the cleaning lady, who was great. The Superior $$$ room has a really bad worn out bed (your could feel the springs), thats what you get for paying the big bucks. Jacqueline the server was very friendly as well, most of the servers were too. Chef Marilus also made us feel welcome. Oscar the bell boy was super attentive and he actually helped us tons, he knows how to treat people. I would def go back to Holbox but I would never give this place any of my hard earned money again. I cant put into words more wonderful compliments about this place: stunning, classy, very trained staff, delicious meals, and in the middle of paradise. Loved waking up in the mornings or taking a nap to the sound of the ocean/waves, its a very quiet place, all you hear are birds and ocean. Also one more compliment, all of the staff speaks well enough English, communicating throughout the stay was very easy. You won’t be disappointed if you want simplicity and beauty.
Management was neither understanding nor accommodating. I loved Holbox, but I will definitely not be staying at any of the HM hotels again. I found plenty of much nicer options in the area. First, my partner and I accidentally double booked, and I asked if I could cancel or modify this reservation (which, to be fair, was non-refundable), but they would not budge in the slightest. They lied to my face and told me I booked a twin bed and I had to pay 3x as much to upgrade the room. I discovered that my room in fact had both a double AND a king bed in it. When I asked to add a guest, they charged me almost 50% more for the same room I had booked. Later, I had walked fifteen minutes back to the hotel in a full suit and realized I forgot my key card at an event. Management refused to give me even a temporary replacement and sent me back in my suit. They also tried to charge me $40 USD for a lousy beach towel that I never even borrowed. This type of bad-faith treatment of guests is unacceptable and pretty incomprehensible to me. The grounds could tidier—all cushions stacked up on one chair, raccoons climbing around the pool in broad daylight with high rabies risk from all the bats, beach chairs dirty and without shade like nearby hotels. Dim room lighting, lack basic hotel amenities (no iron/ironing board, safe not working, no drawers to put your clothing. They also insist you wear a bracelet for your entire stay, which seems unnecessary and obnoxious. I do not recommend.
