Most of the staff was very pleasant and polite. However, the service was not good at all. If you ordered food at a sit down place, it took for ever to get it. There was no TV in the room, and no coffee pot,. They delivered a basket to your door every morning with a thermos of coffee and juice. The coffee was about two cups worth and only warn at best. The activities were arranged for you before check in. You didn't really have any choices on what or when to do things. The property is very far south on the island, so if you want to just take a walk, you are on a busy road. If you want to go shopping, it is a taxi ride. The first thing they do when you check in is to entice you to attend a informational presentation and you get a free day rental of a jeep. Then you find out it is a time share scheme that lasts 90 minutes. When we tried to bow out, they hunted us down. Not cool. The food was not great, and as usual for all inclusive s, I drank a ton, and never once got a buzz. Not sure what they have in those bottles, but it's not alcohol. All in all, it was a fun trip with friends, but next time I am staying closer to town.

The low scale, jungle setting is so unique in Cozumel, and very beautiful. The staff, including Marco and Guillermo at the front desk, and Renata, our excursion lead, were warm, helpful, and accommodating. The excursions are really fun, and as a single traveler they're a nice way to see the island and meet people. Great european lounge music, pool area, and delicious juice bar. The food was the low point-very underwhelming, which might be a by product of the all-inclusive deal. I'm in the wine business, and wish they had a nicer selection. I would have preferred if the hotel were adults-only, because of it's intimate, peaceful setting. Only other issue was the A/C, which I wasn't really able to control well, but that is minor. The sea outside of the Fiesta was gorgeous, and the snorkeling was very good! Overall, it's a great value for the money, and an attractive alternative to high rise properties. It was my second time there, and I will be back!

Very quiet and peaceful. The food was excellent and the service was even better

Great value, very relaxing, wonderful staff, great activities, secluded atmosphere.

We have stayed at different resorts in Cozumel, probably at least a half dozen times in the past. This was, by far, the best resort ever. It was small, very tranquil and quiet, fabulous food and staff. The ability to use the sister resort Fiesta America's amenities offered the different food choices and activities that a larger resort offer, but at the end of the day, you come home to a very relaxing, peaceful room. No tv's or even alarm clocks. The food was fabulous! They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner and all meals are prepared as ordered They will make your meal as ordered, including special requests.c hefs Mario and Daniel are awesome (thank for the wonderful pulpol!!!) I have not one criticism of the Explorian. It was wonderful. Liz

Overall, our stay at The Explorean was positive. The hotel isn't too far away from the downtown area of Cozumel where the cruise ships and ferries from Playa del Carmen dock - but far enough away that you feel isolated from some of the more ragtag and rundown parts of central Cozumel. The hotel itself is tucked away behind its larger sibling, the Fiesta Americana. There is a beautiful courtyard where guests can dine and sit by the pool. There's also a bar where guests can make themselves a drink or order one from a bartender. We stayed in the Guacamaya (The Parrot), which we suppose is like all the other guest suites at The Explorean. The room itself was very decent, with crisp white linens and a separate shower stall that was spacious. The room smelled moldy. We particularly enjoyed our breakfast at Vina Del Mar at the beach where our omelettes and tacos were made to order. The staff at the restaurant could be too enthusiastic in removing plates before we had finished eating. We couldn't understand why they did this....perhaps to encourage turnover or to appear attentive? On our last day at the hotel, we had lunch at the Servicheria, which was a treat. Both the fish and shrimp ceviche were delicious as was the guacamole and tortilla chips. They were accompanied by refreshingly cool cervezas. Our meals at most of the other restaurants on the properties were very disappointing: papaya salad with no papaya, under-cooked salmon, lukewarm duck.

My stay at the Explorean was short, but I wish it had been longer. Every morning between 7 -7:30 coffee and sweet bread are delivered to your door. The food at the Explorean's restaurant is great. I can not say anything bad about the staff either. All were friendly and provided excellent service. The daily activities were fun, and a great way to meet others who were also staying at the Explorean. Bring mosquito repellent, because there are plenty around. If you are looking for a smaller hotel with excellent service, I recommend the Explorean.

We had the best time can't wait to go there again and enjoy the people water and the staff, we celebrated our 10 yr wedding anniversary and the staff made it very special with a special dinner then a beautiful flower arrangement put in our room then wine and chocolate sent to us later we have never experienced that kind of caring and hospitality. Love this place

Thank you to the staff of the Explorean Hotel and the Lool Kan restaurant! They treated us as though we were family and went to great lengths to help us celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary. This included champagne and desert in our room, flowers and wimsical room art! A special meal prepared for us at the restaurant topped everything off. Speaking of Lool Kan there was no reason for us to go to any of the other 5 dining options in the Fiesta Americana. Though the expression has become a bit lame we are long time "foodies". Though there are selected options at each meal we enjoyed every traditional dish and found the chef to be open to preparing most anything else requested. Wow! Oscar is the manager. I have rarely met a harder working and conscientious host. Evan was our hostess and was always there for a warm welcome. For those of you who dive, we found easy accessibility to the pier via the driveway to the hotel.

Nice location, doesn't have a beach but has an amazing spot for snorkelling. Activities are included, staff go the extra mile to make you enjoy your trip. The hotel is small which makes the trip personable.

Good food and staff...drinks a bit lame. Great natural location in a quiet spot (Explorean).

From the moment we arrived to our departure, we enjoyed every bit of our stay.
