Nice property but very limited with food choices for an all inclusive. We got sick eating at the Fiesta resort next door which was part of the access to guests at the Explorean. Otherwise there is only one restaurant at Explorean and not much food choices. The food poisoning was horrible which really took a toll on our vacation.

Staff was excellent, if we needed anything during our stay they always made it a priority. Would definitely stay here again!

This was our second stay at the Explorean. A lot has changed since our trip in 2019. The staff were great. The food was very inconsistent. I loved the ceviche. It was nice to still have the daily activities available. The biggest disappointment was the waterfront amenities closed. You could still access the water to snorkel but none of the loungers or hammocks were set up. You are also not able to use the dock to be picked up by boat.
Love all the staff at The Explorian. This was our second stay there. Everyone was so friendly! Too many to mention! Everyone there made us feel like we were at home! Looking forward to our next stay at The Explorian!

Most of the staff was very pleasant and polite. However, the service was not good at all. If you ordered food at a sit down place, it took for ever to get it. There was no TV in the room, and no coffee pot,. They delivered a basket to your door every morning with a thermos of coffee and juice. The coffee was about two cups worth and only warn at best. The activities were arranged for you before check in. You didn't really have any choices on what or when to do things. The property is very far south on the island, so if you want to just take a walk, you are on a busy road. If you want to go shopping, it is a taxi ride. The first thing they do when you check in is to entice you to attend a informational presentation and you get a free day rental of a jeep. Then you find out it is a time share scheme that lasts 90 minutes. When we tried to bow out, they hunted us down. Not cool. The food was not great, and as usual for all inclusive s, I drank a ton, and never once got a buzz. Not sure what they have in those bottles, but it's not alcohol. All in all, it was a fun trip with friends, but next time I am staying closer to town.
The low scale, jungle setting is so unique in Cozumel, and very beautiful. The staff, including Marco and Guillermo at the front desk, and Renata, our excursion lead, were warm, helpful, and accommodating. The excursions are really fun, and as a single traveler they're a nice way to see the island and meet people. Great european lounge music, pool area, and delicious juice bar. The food was the low point-very underwhelming, which might be a by product of the all-inclusive deal. I'm in the wine business, and wish they had a nicer selection. I would have preferred if the hotel were adults-only, because of it's intimate, peaceful setting. Only other issue was the A/C, which I wasn't really able to control well, but that is minor. The sea outside of the Fiesta was gorgeous, and the snorkeling was very good! Overall, it's a great value for the money, and an attractive alternative to high rise properties. It was my second time there, and I will be back!
