Occidental Cozumel - All Inclusive

Recent guest reviews

This resort is beautiful, quiet, good food and kind staff. The property has lush green grounds (trees, bushes and flowers), it was nice walking along the path to the beach. There were also a lot of large iguanas and coati.

Everything about this resort is amazing, from the beautiful architecture to the jungle pathways to the beach Service was great, rooms were very big and clean, overall nothing to complain about. We will definitely be going back next year

Started off losing a carry-on bag from the airport to the hotel - nobody really cared too much, never did get that bag back. Front desk was okay, most of the staff got by in English. The food was so-so, breakfast and lunch was the same throughout the week. Supper did change a bit. Unfortunately, the hot food was basically luke-warm at best. The grounds were kept in pretty good shape, but while walking about the grounds, smell of sewer was very evident. The beach was okay, very course sand, but clean. The rooms - approx 20 rooms per building, center stairway so each room had a small balcony - the echo in the center of the building was very loud. Bathroom was okay but needed a ceiling fan - mold growth along the borders of the mirror, did have a window but if left open while raining, floor became a skating rink.. Cleaning staff started scrubbing the floors at 7 AM. WiFi was not free, $40 USD for the week. Pools were basically shut down when the sun went down which was about 5:30 in the evening.

We've stayed at the OC for 3 straight years now, and so we obviously enjoy staying there. The staff is phenomenal, and the "on grounds" facilities are great. The only complaint I have about the hotel is that the rooms, although very nice, have virtually no sound dampening qualities. But although this can be annoying, it's really only a problem in the early morning hours, when people leaving their rooms are constantly letting doors slam. Regardless, there really isn't anything that will prevent us from returning to the OC in the future. Overall, it's first rate.

I was very happy with everything including Dive Pro !!

I have stayed at almost all of the All Inclusive resorts in Cozumel. Occidental had the worst food I've ever had to eat. It was difficult to even find fresh fruit/ veggies to get by on. Also, Occidental does not accept the "$500 resort credit" that Orbitz advertises. They only offer 20% off certain services, such as massages, late check out, or wedding packages. Orbitz does not clarify this either, NOR they stand behind the miss advertisement.

Hotel okay, had to wait for 2 hours after checking in time before we got our room, AVOID time share people VERY PUSHING AND RUDE!!! This hotel is a walk from the beach have at least a gallon of mosquito spray- YOU WILL NEED IT! BEST part of the stay was the good service people extremely helpful making the meal nice and will make specialty coffee's and drinks. Pool side bar VERY nice! Would I return - sorry NO did rent a car and seen amazing beautiful island PLEASE DO THIS and this will make your trip great!

We usually stay closer to town but opted to stay out further this time since we rented a car. The property is very nice and the staff is wonderful. The beach is a bit of a walk but the paved and wooden walkways make it accessible for everyone. There is a lot of wildlife there. The iguanas like to chill at the adult pool during the day. They are pretty laid back unless you are eating something they want- then they become your best buddy! The rooms are nice and the maids do a great job and get the rooms done early in the day. As far as food, the buffet at breakfast and lunch had a variety of choices. After hours pizza was a nice late night treat. Mediterranean restaurant was pretty, but not many choices if you don't care for seafood. Sonora grill was our favorite. The ribeye was excellent. And the azteca soup--let's just say I could live off that alone! The waitstaff in that restaurant was outstanding! I did not catch their names but the lady tended to our table all 3 nights/ she was adorable and remembered our drinks from nights before. The waiter who checked us in was just as great. He was able to seat us an hour early and offered to book us for the next night. We never went to the seafood restaurant as I don't eat seafood and there were not other options. The main beach pool was fun. Lots of activities like water aerobics ,Water polo, volleyball, and Zumba. Overall I would recommend this resort. Not sure we will return only because it's so far out of town.

The property itself was very nice, great landscape, jungle like but the food was horrible. The quality and taste of the food was very disappointing and the drinks were watered down. I picked an all-inclusive property for those two things and barely ate or drank while there. Also, maintenance was very slow to respond, I had to call the front desk four times to finally get someone to come to our room to open the safe that was left closed by the previous guest.

Yes, Highly Recommend very nice and calm there. Great for families and kids.

The food was terrible! There is a dress code for the nice restaurants! You have to make reservations for the nice restaurants by 8:30 and you only get two reservations! For the Buffett the men have to wear a sleeved shirt! The hotel says they give you a credit for $500 that's not true! No wifi! No air conditioning! Our check in was supposed to be at 3:00 and we didn't get in our hot dirty room until 4:30!

AC inrooms never gets lower than 25c. Everything else was great. No pants, no restaurants. Dive with Cha Cha Cha divers!

I like this hotel because it builds in a Spanish style and it surrounded by a lot of trees wich makes this place very cozy. It has a lot of wildlife wich makes this hotel special.

We booked our trip to the hotel based on 3 factors; beach location (great beach connected to the resort), hotel/room accommodations (well maintained hotel, friendly staff, comfortable rooms), and most importantly food/alcohol (good food, good drinks). Based on previous reviews of the resort we were inclined to stay here for the good reviews in all 3 categories. They only lived up to two out of three. The hotel has a great staff, who are friendly and willing to assist. The rooms are comfortable/well maintained. The pool/beach is well equipped with seating and shade (palm tree's/umbrellas). The hotel has a decent selection of top shelf, so if you want a basic mixed drink such as a Vodka tonic, or a shot of top shelf tequila, you should be set. The mixed specialty drinks fall short in taste/quality. The bar tenders make the drinks as quickly as possible and you will receive your specialty drink poorly blended and not properly measured out in a cafeteria plastic cup, as you would any other drink you order. Most of the time there was not a line and more time should have been spent on making the specialty drinks so they tasted halfway decent. Now onto the worst part of the resort, the food. We made the mistake and ate sober the first day at the buffet and to say the food was terrible, every single meal (over cooked, no flavor, pilled on top of each other). The reserved dinners are not much better either (limit of 2 for us). All four of us ended up sick (we did not drink the water)

Staff was inconsistent in meeting needs and request - and you like beach life, shade is limited on beach - no huts to get under when you need out of the sun☹️

Loved almost everything about the hotel except I think they need a bar at the beach/pool area that is open until 10:00 pm. Also at every meal we had to ask for water or any kind of beverage. We were never asked for a drink order once we were seated. Other than those 2 things the resort was excellent!

The food options was very disappointing, the restaurants that required reservations was same food served at buffet which was poor quality. Beverage service was terrible, long lines and limited staff caused delays for simple request for water or beer.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our hotel stay. The hotel and the grounds are beautiful. The food and drinks are wonderful. The only complaint that we have is that there is a lot of pressure to attend their time share presentation (although they don't call it "time share"). We will definitely be going back!

I think for what you pay it's a great hotel. Service was amazing except for one lady at the front that is rude (Maria). Food was the only downside. It's not worth it to make a reservation as the buffet Is better but buffet is just okay. Rooms are very nice, except ours smelled musty. Huge hotel with multiple pools to go to. The disco at night plays good music. Drinks are good. The shows at night are fun especially the fire show. Overall I would recommend this place and would go again!

Dive shop on property and good pools. Liked the night entertainment. Mediterranean restaurant the best. Breakfast and lunch same fare every day and average. Drinks and bar staff very good but wait time sometimes long.
