Occidental Cozumel - All Inclusive

Recent guest reviews

The food options was very disappointing, the restaurants that required reservations was same food served at buffet which was poor quality. Beverage service was terrible, long lines and limited staff caused delays for simple request for water or beer.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our hotel stay. The hotel and the grounds are beautiful. The food and drinks are wonderful. The only complaint that we have is that there is a lot of pressure to attend their time share presentation (although they don't call it "time share"). We will definitely be going back!

I think for what you pay it's a great hotel. Service was amazing except for one lady at the front that is rude (Maria). Food was the only downside. It's not worth it to make a reservation as the buffet Is better but buffet is just okay. Rooms are very nice, except ours smelled musty. Huge hotel with multiple pools to go to. The disco at night plays good music. Drinks are good. The shows at night are fun especially the fire show. Overall I would recommend this place and would go again!

Dive shop on property and good pools. Liked the night entertainment. Mediterranean restaurant the best. Breakfast and lunch same fare every day and average. Drinks and bar staff very good but wait time sometimes long.

I took my niece with me for a long weekend. She went diving (the hotel is very close to the reef) and I relaxed on the beach. The casitas were in the jungle not on the beach, but it was only about a five minute walk. The food is average, but the grounds are very well kept and exotic. Overall we enjoyed the hotel very much.

The facilities are above average for Mexico. Daily dives are arranged for scuba and snorkeling. Wildlife abounds. In one day we saw 16 iguanas. They're ugly, but totally harmless. Because of the location, Internet and cell service is very spotty. As an all inclusive, the food is about what I expected, far from gourmet, but adequate. Had only one problem...no hot water in the shower, but that was taken care of the same day we reported it.

Sprawling resort that is just amazing. Excellent dive shop, courteous staff, food was incredible, beautiful picture perfect Caribbean beach, restaurant on the beach. Few things were lacking from a true 5 star was food wasn't always available, room service wasn't always available, and reservations for the premium dining were hard to get.

Spent a week at the resort, dive vacation with a friend. Good service most of the time. Two nice pools, no swim up bar though.

We have been staying at this Resort 10 to 30 days a year for the last 13 years. 2016 has seen a full renovation to all rooms and facilities, so room comfort is excellent. Staff has always been excellent. The food (all inclusive) quality has declined so badly, we consider it nearly not edible. By the end of our 10 day we were only eating Bananas when they offered them and box cereal. If your diet is not full of oils and fats, come prepared to diet.

2.5-3star no umbrellas on beach no AC in common areas. Primarily BUFFET meals, Theft, shady front desk staff, don't rent a car from them,

It was a amazing experience , the facilities are good . Staff is really friendly . Activities are good, rent a vehicle is good idea to know the island , places, local food and the people. Is a safe place .

They are very happy to see you at check in, but then you are pretty much forgotten. Only exception is when they are trying to shove a sales pitch down your throat to by a membership, very pushy. Food is below par, very bland and nothing authentic. Diners are not open very long so if you want a snack you can only get room service. Beach bar and pools close at 7 p.m. so you have to go to the beach and if you want a drink, you have to walk a half a mile(literally) to get one. The bright side was the dive shop. Everyone there treated you like family and Jonathan is a saint. While I did not participate in pool side activities the young man leading them did an wonderful job, everyone seem to be having lots of fun with him.

The hotel grounds are beautiful. The rooms are in buildings that are scattered around the property. The pool and beach area are nice. The food is buffett style and very good and lots of choices. The dive shop is very good too.

The hotel grounds were beautiful and full of wildlife which we enjoyed. Snorkeling off the hotel beach was actually better than that at Chakanaab! The hotel staff was great and we made friends with a few over the week - super nice people. Only complaint was that the room didn't have much sound barrier which was annoying with the noisy neighbors. Buffet food was okay, nothing spectacular, but the Sonora restaurant food was excellent and cooked just as we asked. While we traveled as a couple, we decided this was a family friendly location we'd bring our kids to.

We have been to many resorts and even stayed at the sister resort of Occidental Grand, the Allegro. I think if we could have, we would have preferred to go there! First of all...our first room the A/C unit was ridiculously loud and the bathroom window would not shut. They moved us into another room eventually, where the bed was awfully uncomfortable. We paid for an all-inclusive package and only 1 bar (at the lunch cafe) was open. No pool bars were open. We found that we did not drink nearly as much because first of all to walk to the beach bar was a hike and the lines. The bartender was slow. Staff seating for lunch and dinners were not very friendly or on the ball. They are VERY pushy to sell their Time Share/Vacation Club as well! They treat you poorly unless your a member.

Yes it was great, beach was excellent view was great food great people were exceptionally friendly.

when we arrived we had to wake up the greeter/doorman who then pointed us to where we check in. was a sunday late afternoon, everything there seemed closed down. it then took 40 minutes to get to our room do to the misleading sales people trying to force and bribe us in to a 90 minute presentation for first thing in the morning, we asked where we could get some food they said not for an hour and there were only 2 restaurants open and we needed reservations we did not have reservations. we explained we just arrived and the maitre just shrugged his shoulders, so we left after a heated exchange and went to the adjacent restaurant next store who told us we needed pants as we were in shorts. but after explaining he tried to send us back to the other restaurant, we explained what happened there and after mumbling something he let us stay. there was no buffet Sunday or Monday we watch person after person told to leave do to there dress code, we choose this hotel for its rating there is NO pizza place there were only 2 dinner restaurants that needed reservations there was no where to get a snack unlimited hardly tuesday was better nice buffet for dinner. as for lunch there are a lot of leftovers from dinner. breakfast was okay but the omelette bar opened late every morning so if you had somewhere to go that day you could not wait . No where are there 6 restaurants descriptions of this hotel are not the same as online, the rooms very dated and beds very hard! very little lighting on the grounds and if you get up before it is light out side you have to feel around in the dark just to go down the stairs from your room we had to use our cell phones just to see,we were without water one night and there also was dirty dishes left out side 3 different rooms near ours that did not get picked up the WHOLE time we stayed,

Internet was too expensive and staff was not friendly or responsive

Beautiful resort. However, the beds were very uncomfortable. The food in the main dining area was subpar. I was expecting true Mexican cuisine, and was sorely disappointed.

Staff and management were very, very friendly and competent. Service at bar and restaurant was swift and professional. Rooms are a little tired.
