The property is in need of updates which they are working on and everything seems to need a good cleaning. The quality of workmanship is low. Quality of food is not as good as the sister resort Dreams just down the beach. Service is acceptable but can be slow. It is nice that you can also use Sunscape and Dreams for dinner and bar options. Miguel server at beach / pool was great and very friendly. Swim up rooms with the lazy river are nice with a full lounging bed available on the deck.

So here’s the thing…We booked a stay at Secrets Aura but got “bumped” to another property because they were overbooked and we had booked through Orbitz. If you book through a third party like Orbitz/Expedia you’ll get bumped first versus if you booked through that hotel directly. This was disappointing because we chose Secrets because it was adults only but got sent to a family friendly hotel instead. The rooms provided to us had a nice view but we were still not where we planned to stay and going back and forth between the properties in order to access amenities was an inconvenience. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms at Dreams (where we got sent instead) were not soundproof at all- which is fine unless you have loud neighbors. Be aware that booking through this site is not a guarantee you’ll stay at your chosen hotel.

This is not a five (5) star hotel. 2.5 stars at best. The rooms are old and dirty, with openings around the doors letting in the mosquitos. The pools have algae growing on the tiles, and exposed electrical wiring surrounds every pool light. The food and drink service is terrible. Drinks are weak, and beer is barely cold. The upgraded minibar was a joke; juice boxes, beer, water, pringles, and M&M's. Hyiat needs to renovate and reinvent this place. Or lower the prices to reflect 2-3 star hotels, and customers will lower their expectations. This was a massive waste of time and money.

We booked a short trip and our first room was horribly unkept, and dirty. Then, we woke up and the roof had leaked all over our stuff and everything was stinky water soaked. Not a great experience for sure.

You couldn’t ask for a better experience! We loved every minute and our only regret was that we should have stayed longer than the 6 days we booked!

The resort needs lots of updates and maintenance. AC in the rooms were not working for a couple of days. Club on the resort was not nice at all. The ceiling was leaking and there was a huge puddle of water in the middle of the floor.

The resort wasn’t bad but Orbitz did a terrible job of coordinating things with the resort. Unfortunately a flight that I booked with Orbitz was canceled which took a day and a half off of our trip. Orbitz claimed they couldn’t refund me for the missed day

We had a wonderful time but beware! When you go to through the airport they will LIE to you and offer you great deals. DON'T fall for it. They will trap you in a very long (more than 2 hrs) presentation that is Very high pressure. When you go to exit, only interact with the car booths to the right if you need a ride. DO NOT interact with those standing around offering to help OR any counter agents to the left. The Pizza restaurant is amazing!!

Secrets property was gorgeous! The food and drinks were good, activities were fun, staff was super friendly. Our room was perfect! The beach is a little rocky but still had a great time swimming in it!

Other than the few nicer dining options, the food was not good. Thankfully the staff were very friendly, and they serve bottled water everywhere, so no stomach troubles that you sometimes run into in Mexico.

The resort was clean, but older… the staff was amazing housekeeping, valet, event planners, the bartenders, wait staff … friendly and kind

This is our second time here at this property and probably our last. Not because there are any major problems but enough for us to try somewhere else next time. Pros Location Beautiful beach Nice rooms Snorkeling on-site Ideal location for scuba diving Some of the food was excellent. Water slides into bar pool Spa facility is great Gym Cons Some staff are not very attentive Some are awesome Tons of mosquitos Need bug repellant if you eat outside. Always out of towels. Some pools were cloudy could not see the bottom. Some pools were hot, not inviting. Only one jacuzzi Very limited alcohol selection even in the preferred section. No consistency with making simple cocktails from different bars. Some were great and some were awful.

We liked our room. It was very clean and we loved the layout of it. The resort is nice and the staff was wonderful. The food was good.

What I didn’t like is that you can’t use certain restaurants or pools if you’re not a “preferred member”. I think it’s crap that you spend a lot of money for the trip and upgraded for an ocean view room that the trees were severely over grown past our balcony and we didn’t have a good view of the ocean. I don’t remember reading on your website about not being able to use certain pools or restaurants.

This property definitely needs some updating!!
