I had to force myself to leave the comfort and tranquility of my jungle room only to linger beachside until staff closed up for the night. This property is a true hidden gem and the perfect mix of keeping the essence of island life and modern amenities. Definitely won't be my last visit.

This is the place you dream of vacationing at. Whe you book a trip, you want it to be wonderful and meet all your expectations. THIS IS IT!!! I could not have been more pleased with the decision to stay here. I was already planning the next trip whilst enjoying breakfast 10 feet from the waters edge. The people are fantastic. Danny, Erik, and Floriberto. Words cannot express how great this place is. You just have to experience it.

My private room was clean and beautiful. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The only con is if you have "sweet blood" like me you will get eaten alive. BRING MOSQUITO/BUG REPELLENT!!! I didnt bring any. The hotel is situated in lots of vegetation so mosquitoes are crazy. Its also very easy to catch a cab or the bus directly in front of the hotel. Food was fresh and delicious for both breakfast and lunch.

It was my second time visiting this place. I have to say that the rooms are great, but they are too noisy. I chose the jungle room, but I ended up in a different room facing the beach, where all the music is playing. Some of the employees on the beach were really nice, while others seemed like they didn’t want to wake up in the morning and come to work.

We really enjoyed Mayan Monkey - we stayed for two days. The beachfront the great, room was nice and the amenities offered were good. The only downside I have to offer, the service was so slow in the restaurant, bar and beach club. While most of the staff were phenomenal, that aspect also restricted our ability to order more of what we wanted since everything took so long. Otherwise, an awesome stay and will definitely consider coming back. Thank you!

We stayed in a jungle room. It was small but beautiful. The bed was super comfy. The room had a deep soaking tub which I love. There is a Japanese restaurant right next door that is very loud in the evenings. The hotel had a great private beach with plenty of day beds. The only bad thing was the pool was out of order our whole visit. A big part of how I choose a hotel is based on the pool. That was a bummer. Luckily there are a lot of beach clubs a short walk from hotel.

First, it’s beautiful even if some aspects are a little run down. Second, the staff was incredible! Mateo, Jesus & Armando in the restaurant took amazing care of us. When there was a delay on our food (which we weren’t bothered with at all as we were thoroughly just enjoying the ambiance and our drinks were never empty), the manager and Jesus gave us compt drinks & a dessert. The front desk was amazing & accommodating. They helped us coordinate our early flight & made sure that we left with food in hand since our departure time was before breakfast was served. We will definitely be coming back!

I definitely wouldn't call this place a "Hostel" because it is much higher end than that. The Shared Rooms were extremely nice. The beds were comfortable & offered privacy. The Lockers were spacious. 2 Sinks, 2 Toilets, & 2 Showers to share. The Showers could be cleaner. They definitely need a through scrubbing, but it wasn't awful. They also have Private, King Beach Rooms that we got to take a look at & they are very clean & spacious. Would be perfect for a couples getaway. The Staff was incredibly friendly & helpful. Cannot say enough good things about every Staff member we met. The Onsite Restaurant has excellent food at fair US prices. Breakfast was fresh & delicious. Great Bar, including a small swim-up area from the Pool. The Beachfront was clean & provided plenty of lounge chairs & tables. We swam everyday. Beautiful Pier to walk out & watch Sunrises & Sunsets. We loved our experience at Mayan Monkey & will definitely stay there again.
