This was our third year coming here and I’m really sad to write this and I’ll say they food and restaurant service is still pretty good here. The first night we checked in at 10pm after a long travel day to get in our room and spot multiple cockroaches. Went straight away to the front desk to ask for another room and were basically told “no”. Instead they sent someone with a can of raid and they bombed our room with it grabbed the cockroaches we could see. We decided to let that air out and not fry our brain cells an try to find something to eat. Over all there was a lot “No” attitude most of the week which is just frustrating to say the least and then it just turned into a nightmare. The last 2 nights were just what drove me over the edge. The power went out at like 12 in our room since the phone also wasn’t working my bf got up and walked over to the lobby and could not find a single person so we just tried to sleep until morning. At about 7 am I went to the front desk in tears Exhausted just wanting to sleep so We could go enjoy our last full day and they just sent a repair man. They were in our room 8am -2 pm so we had to go find somewhere to chill an try to sleep? Yeah not happening in public. Low and behold our Lastnight the power again kicks off at midnight ish so after seeing how long took them to fix it the day before know we had a long entire day of travel we’d just ruff it and try to sleep with no Ac or power. Then around 2 a bucket or two of water start coming down from our ceiling by the door. Since we didn’t have a working phone and not in the mood to walk down to the lobby again we just used some towels to mop it up and try to go back to sleep. When we checked out we told them what had happened and we just got the “oooo that’s to bad” not even like I offer to maybe pay for a massage I got there maybe some store credits? nothing. Bottom line all of this would have never happened if they had just switched our rooms when we found roaches the first day and we could avoided having 3 nights of crappy sleep that really made us not wanna do most of our excursions we had plan an definitely not enjoy them like we wanted too. Also the restaurants were so difficult to book they only reso we could get with our friends was like 9pm. Maybe just go to a first come first serve policy and close earlier like some resorts are doing?
Currently here on our honeymoon. The ride from the airport took hours and it was almost dark when we arrived. We were greeted with rose pedals on the bed, tiny box of chocolates, warm champagne, a broken refrigerator, a cheap little tote bag and 1 coffee cup. Day 3 and we finally have a refrigerator that cools. Still no in-room meal or robes and slippers. Have to call and beg daily for water and coffee for coffee pot. Housekeeping collects linens and does not replace them. We used yesterday’s towels as washcloths this morning. There is no drink service on the beach. You stand in line for cheap alcohol served in a kids cup after leaving your beach chair you’re not allowed to reserve. Asked if we could possibly get a coffee cup for each of us and were told no. Shops in resort charge $22 for coffee cups and double the price for a bottle of alcohol if you’d like something other than warm champagne and warm, cheap beer from your broken refrigerator. During breakfast, they were so busy setting up for lunch, we were never offered drinks. Maybe your 1 warm bottle given to you on day 1 is supposed to last you the week?
We've been with Bahia Principe for a while now and there is not mcuh I can say except for excellence. The service was an amazing experience from the office to the staff, I would recommend this resort for those who are looking for comfort and service and etc...
This was my first trip to Mexico and the hotel didn't disappoint us. Everything was just perfect: yummy food, a fantastic beach, warm water, customer service and of course, fauna!!! Don't forget to book a table in one of 10 a la carte restaurants, in my opinion, Don Pablo is the best one.
Only back from our fabulous 7 nights holiday GBPT. Words can not really describe our perfect organised experience. Airport transfer included both ways it takes about only 1hour 10 min drive till resort. We arrived late night at about 1am fast check in , a bar was open near the beach so food was available for us at that time. We booked 2 bedrooms excellent condition spotless clean with all amenities you need in. The buffet extremely rich plenty of food looked all fresh and very tasty. We have a choice to book 3 diners in 3 different restaurant our favourite was Don Pablo the waitress was great with a huge sense of humour sorry forgot his name but the most amazing was the restaurant La Gourmet it's located in Coba have organised my birthday well I really enjoyed the food, red rose petals, cake and blown the candles and of course the glass of red wine I have ordered 😉 thank you to all restaurant team great customers skills. As well it was organised a Birthday banner attached on my bedroom door plus a bottle of sparkling wine + chocolates was left for me 🤗 very pleasant treat I will be asked if I recommend this resort?! Without any doubt I can recommend and j am sure everyone will enjoy their stay with you. Thank you again for our brilliant stay and for all the best services you offered us
This was mine and my wife's fourth time at GBP Tulum. Every experience before has been so wonderful, we constantly raved about it to anyone who would listen. We brought our daughter twice and my wife's best friend. We considered a family reunion and even thought it might be nice for my step-daughter's honeymoon. This experience has changed all that and unfortunately, we will not be returning. At the beginning of the year, I asked my wife what she wanted to do for her birthday/our 20th anniversary as both are in October. Without taking a second, she said she wanted to go to GBP Tulum. I have a MyBahia memebership which gets you a discount, airport shuttle, pick your room, and for an 8 day stay you get 3 meals in their a la carte restaurants. After doing a lot of research and waiting for the right price, I decided to book. While on the website, I saw a "vacation package" that included airfare. The price was the same as if I booked separately, so I decided to do the package... I figured they probably get something for it and I was happy to do that. That was where things started going wrong. What is never told to you is that the "vacation package" is actually through Expedia. I did not find this out until our last day there. All of my emails and phone communications were with GBP. Because I got the package (WHICH SAVED ME NO MONEY) I was not entitled to the shuttle, choice of room, or prebooking the a la carte restaurants... great deal! When I realized the airport transfer was not included, I called GBP trying to find out what was going on, I ask why and they say because "you booked the package, so you don't get you MyBahia perks." but, the GBP representative took care of it and we received our airport transfer. Minor inconvenience, but okay. Next I want to pick our room, but the reservation number does't work. I call AGAIN to find out what is going on. I am told that because I booked the "vacation package" the website doesn't recognize the reservation. I ask about the a la carte restaurants and they say I have to call the resort directly... seriously?!?!? I decide whatever I guess we won't be having a la carte. That is fine because the buffet is pretty good. So October rolls around. We fly in, our shuttle arrives, we get to the resort. We are early, but no big deal. We go to the desk and our room isn't ready. They give us our all inclusive bracelets. Tell us to go enjoy ourselves and come back in about an hour. We go have lunch, come back, stand in line again... Room still isn't ready. Fine, we are still early. We wander over to the bar and hang out until normal check in time. We get back to a LONG line we now have to stand in AGAIN. Wouldn't it have been easier to give us our room key and say not available until 3pm? They were just cleaning it, no one was in the room... We finally get to our room and I am trying to open the app that you can access at the resort. I messed up by not putting a 0 at the front of our room number and the person at the desk was very helpful. I get into the app and make our reservations. Mikado (Japanese) for her birthday, there weren't any restaurants we wanted to go to available on our anniversary, and Tortuga (Brazilian) for our last night there. We are sort of enjoying our trip. Everything is very clean. The staff is super friendly. (Special shout out to Didier at Los Olas!) The big problem for me is I love snorkeling. Unfortunately, I am suffering from an illness that makes walking difficult and I fall easily so I did not plan on trying to snorkel, but I did want my wife to help me walk into the ocean. All I wanted was to get my feet wet. Unfortunately hurricanes had pulled the beach away and now it is about 10 feet down a sand slope to get into the water. I was able to get down it and back up once with my wife's help (and the help of a kind couple from Canada), but it was too much work so I could not go into the water again. Hopefully they find a solution for people who are disabled. But I could still go onto the beach above the water and they had great shows, so. I made the best of it. Her birthday comes and we go to Mikado. They don't have our reservation. We get a shrug and a sorry. I am livid. we go back to the front desk and I said "I need a manager." (I know, but anyway.) I tell the front desk person what happened, that I am very upset, and that I need someone who could make me not upset (mind you, I NEVER got loud or rude with anyone. I was in food for 30 years and getting mad at people who did nothing wrong is dumb.) She gets a manager and the manager takes me to her desk. I show her me booking a reservation, it says thank you and poof, no reservation. I am LIVID. Their computers have been nothing but misery. She offers to set up our reservations. I get my wife and when we return, the manager is there with the food and beverage manager, and their sommelier... She fills them in on what happened. The sommelier takes us to the Brazilian restaurant and talks to the restaurant manager. They set us up at a table covered with rose petals and the service is impeccable. We bought two bottle of wine (no discount, but whatever at least her birthday was better). Later, the food and beverage manager says he wants to do something for us and writes something on a paper and gives it to us and tells us to take it to the Brazilian restaurant for a special anniversary dinner on the beach the next day. Okay! They made up for the snafus and computer issues... or so we thought. When we arrive at the restaurant, we hand the paper to the manager. He leaves and comes back and tells us what he is going to do for us... only $43 each... so what we thought was a nice gesture from the boss turned into an $83 bill we weren't planning on doing at an all inclusive restaurant. We declined and ate at a regular table for free. And bought another bottle of wine. When I saw the f & b manager again, I tried to ask if our special dinner was supposed to be comped but he didn't understand what I was saying. Our last night there, we didn't even want to make the trek to Mikado so we ate at the buffet. Another manager stopped us as we were leaving and asked how it was and I shrugged and said "ok." He asked why just okay and I related the whole story. He told me to email when we came back again and I stopped him and said we would not be returning. The staff was wonderful. They put a banner on our door for my wife's birthday and our anniversary. They put a bottle of sparkling wine in our room both days along with chocolates. Everyone we talked to was amazing and working very hard. Honestly that is why it gets 3 stars.
I have been in at least 10 all inclusive resorts in my life, and this is one of the worst ones I have been at. But I think the main reason why I am giving it 2 stars is that the other reviews are so misleading that someone needs to tell the truth. - The bathrooms (we stayed in two rooms) were horrible. The first bedroom had all the bathtub silicone ripped (or ripping) with pieces of black mold, the drain also had stuff around and the toilet had a very disgusting "stain" (you know what I mean). The bathroom on the second bedroom was better, but still needed maintenance. - The bedrooms (both) were in very bad shape with walls scratched, bed sheets ripped, and paint falling apart. They were comparable to a very cheap highway motel. - The streets to walk between villas smelled horrible. I guess this is a common problem in Mexico. The last hotel we stayed at had the same problem, but they have the excuse of the seaweed. The Bahia Principe didn't have seaweed, only the smell. - The waiters at the restaurant were just fine, not too interested in serving us water or drinks, but they were average. However, the rest of the staff (cooks and people providing service at the bar) were horrible. They look like they hated their lives, they were very rude and not helpful. - The swimming pools had many tiles missing. I know this shouldn't be a big deal, but this hotel wasn't cheap. I would had hoped that it was better maintained.
We have stayed at this particular hotel three times and once at Jamaica. The food is excellent with a variety of choices for the al a carte. Would always recommend the men being the longer trousers. Service is and always has been excellent. The rooms are fantastic and defiantly a 5 star hotel. The market place at the hacienda is good and can always get a good bargain!! It’s a beautiful island and will definitely be returning for a fourth trip!!
It was great to have a resort where I could not only play tennis, but have an expert tennis instructor. Also really enjoyed the buffet breakfast that had delicious fresh papaya and salmon. Room was very spacious, clean and comfortable, with a view.
I have travelled a lot and this hotel is average at best . If your young and first all inclusive it would be ok . It is average at best . If you are a beach person this one sucks, it’s rocky , murky, closed in by barriers , so not attractive, long way to walk to get a beverage. The showers leak all over the floor every time you shower, the rooms are so so, the Japanese restaurant is a joke , the service was bad, the food half of the things on the menu aren’t even Japanese, our yakisoba tasted like they took a can of plum sauce (if your Canadian you know what this is ) and poured it on the noodles, we had to go to the buffet for dinner after, the bars close early , not a lot to do at m Night , the Gourmet restaurant was wonderful though and great service , and the wildlife around the resort is amazing, the free wifi only works I. The lobby . I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone
