very nice property with comfortable beds and nice showers- good place to stay for families- the staff were very friendly and helpful and there is a mellow relaxing vibe to the place- the breakfast was great

Hotel Zamas has spacious, clean rooms and a good terrace and restaurant. The staff are very helpful. However, one thing to note if you have not visited Tulum before is that Zamas is located on the main road and the beach/sea there is not as nice as the beautiful white sand further up the coast. However it is an easy walk or cycle ride further up the coast and Zamas prices seem a little cheaper. Overall, lovely hotel and better value for money than further up the coast.

The property is bifurcated by the main road, which is really busy, noisy, and full of sewage trucks belching diesel. We never ventured to tne pool, which lay the other side of the road. So we really can't see the place as being suitable for light sleepers or people with kids. The shower in our room produced warm water at a teaspoon at a time. We were wiling to put up with it for our short stay. But others might find it really annoying.

We were on a yoga retreat and stayed in the 3-story mansion on the other side of the road from the restaurant. This large home was complete with amazing views of the ocean and private pool which I thought was beautiful and quite large. No air conditioning, but the weather turned cool a couple of days into our mid-November trip. A fan was perfect and they provide a lot of fans. Fresh water is provided in each room of the house. There is a large porch area with outdoor furniture to relax or do yoga. Laura was so nice and super helpful. Really no negatives. Beds are comfortable, decor is Mexican, air is salty and the water is fine. The only thing I could say is that the staff forgot to come in one day and leave fruit and water, but besides that it was amazing. Everyone who stayed loved it and the staff. Thanks for an excellent stay! =)

This was our first trip out of the country with our family and we decided on Tulum, because of its low key vibe and pristine beaches. Zamas hotel was perfect for us with its 2 bedroom bungalows. My 8 and 6 year olds shared a room with 2 beds and we had the other room with king bed. The staff was friendly and informative with activities and other restaurants to visit during our 6 day stay. We ate at Zamas the most, because the food was delicious and family friendly. Definitely get the homemade donuts for a breakfast snack. Zamas was in a good location to everything you could possible want to do in Tulum (Ruins, Cenotes, In-town, Shopping, Beaches) 80-100 pesos each way was the average or rent a bike or just trek around and explore. We truly loved our time in Tulum and will be coming back with our extended family next year. Thank you Zamas!

We stayed at Zamas for a friend's wedding, and added a little on the front and back-end for a vacation. We stayed in a Beachfront Chica cabana for 6 nights, and the larger Beachfront for 1 night. Loved the Chica-- it was basically a giant fluffy bed that you rolled out of straight onto the beach. Who needs more room than that? The weather in November was gorgeous temperature-wise (never too hot to sleep with our fan on) but a little on the rainy side. Being from a drought-stricken state, I loved the rain. We never felt damp in our cabana, and I really loved the bathroom (one big tiled area so I was constantly tempted to just take another hot shower whenever I was in there). The purpose of our trip was just relax, relax, relax, so we stayed on the little private beach there most of the time, ate almost all our (vegetarian) meals in their restaurant looking at the waves. I spent hours beachcombing and looking for little crabs, read in a variety of comfy beach chairs under shades, took protected naps under the mosquito net. I didn't have a lot of problem with bugs, but others in my party did (it's the tropics, what're you gonna do). Getting set up was simple, they had a deal on a free 4th night and absolutely everyone on staff was sweet. I am uncomfortable with being waited on hand and foot, but the service wasn't like that for me. Staff were friendly but not obsequious-- that made me feel like they were treating their workers well. I was able to do my own thing and relax, and if I needed something they were on it. If you want to do any boat/snorkel/scuba stuff, there's a dive shop right across the street that uses the Zamas beach. So it's super simple to rent snorkels or do a tour. I liked watching them come in and out. Noise: we mostly stayed in the Chica, which was almost as far from the restaurant/bar as you could get. Things always closed down around 11, so even if there was music it didn't last late. Then just waves and nothing else. A little traffic noise started around 9am, but by that time I was eating breakfast or in the water. BUT-- we had to change rooms (took a family member's cancelled reservation but wanted to stay longer) the last night to the Beachfront. A much larger spot, probably great for families, but right next to the restaurant. In that spot, all semblance of peaceful paradise was shattered. The morning we left, they had turned on club music in the restaurant at 7:30am. All the extra space isn't worth losing the solitude. Security/privacy: I'd never been on a beach vacation or stayed in a thatched cabana, but this wasn't a tent or anything like that. Walls, doors, windows, a safe. Plus it's a small area on the beachside. I never saw anything suspicious going on or felt like I needed to keep my purse clutched at all times. Don't know if we bothered the people staying near us, but we didn't hear any sounds of ardor through our walls. You're staying close to tother people in the Chicas, but I barely heard a human sound once I was in my room. We also spent a bit of time on the beach at night watching the stars and it seemed totally safe. Things I was afraid of: an unsecured beach shack, having to constantly be on guard against tap water, beach being overloaded with people. None of these happened. They know most guests are coming from abroad and stock each room with a giant water jug/dispenser, and all the food/drink coming from there is safe for foreign tummies (this includes all the restaurants surrounding the Zamas area). Going in November, the beach was sometimes deserted. I couldn't believe my luck. Only a few noisy smokers one day, but otherwise really courteous folks. Best parts: the closeness to the water (though there is more of the resort on the jungle side, though I never explored it), delicious food, easy to find, choice of doing nothing or easily going on adventures. If there was anything I didn't like, it was just that last night in a different more noisy location.

We stayed in October and could not have been better welcomed or looked after. As others have said, Laura is amazing. And so are all the other staff. A very special mention for Felix who 'did' our room (which was a delightful beach bungalow) with great care and attention to detail - and his wonderful towel sculptures. A different one every day all decorated with fresh flowers. The food is lovely and the margaritas fabulous. The beach is delightful. And eating breakfast outdoors, practically on the beach just watching the pelicans is beyond price. Just beware the mosquitoes!

We had an amazing stay at Zamas! My wife and I went for our Honeymoon and walked in to a room full of rose pedals! Laura is amazing! She helped us find all of the cool spots in town and answered any & all of our questions. They owner, Chelsea took us into town to pick up a scooter for a day! And of course, Manuel, he is the sweetest! Every morning we were greeted with a smile & coffee, and he kept the drinks coming! The location is perfect, right on the beach and amazing restaurants surrounding. We cannot wait to go back! Thank you all for a memorable stay <3

It was red carpet and white glove service the whole time. Anything we wanted Laura and Chelsea got it for us asap🤗. We didn't want to leave . Manuel greeted us very morning with a smile , he was our best server. He made sure we had everything thing we needed drinks, towels and food! Ok the food there I couldn't get enough of ! PERFECTO! Our room was cleaned everyday with fresh everything and night we had candles and are bed turned down for us . Super romantic .Thank you Zamas hotel we can't wait to come back 😘! P.S. get a massage on the beach from Angie !

Our stay at Zamas was short but sweet! The staff were incredibly kind, engaging, and knowledgable on the property and local area. They set us up with a fantastic city tour in which we felt safe and comfortable. The restaurant is DELICIOUS and had dinner under the stars which was an unforgettable experience. We had the pleasure of meeting Susan the owner that evening. She is wonderful and takes a lot of pride in making sure that her guests are happy. We unfortunately had to leave a little early due to an emergency and Susan made sure we were well accounted for and able to check out early. I cannot wait to go back and highly recommend it!!
