The staff is super friendly and they all make you genuinely feel welcome. I like that this is a small resort and I like the open air lobby which lets in lovely Ocean breezes. The resort itself is very dated. And this is reflected in the lack of air conditioning in the two elevators that take you to and from your room to the lobby. I was here three years ago and chose to come back despite the stated atmosphere because the staff is so friendly and the resort itself is laid-back and comfortable. If you’re going to be disappointed with something like say the door to your balcony being subpar and not being able to shut all the way and you may want to consider another resort. But if you like the small laid-back friendly atmosphere then this is a good place for you. Food is decent and not outstanding but not poor either. And the service is always good at all the restaurants. The beach is very nice here. And the outside bar is right on the beach and it makes for a nice place to have a drink by the water. I booked all my excursions from VIATOR in advance. They were all good excursions however I discovered on this trip that they have local experts on hand at this resort to book excursions for you once you arrive in Cancun. The prices were better. Bottom line if you’re looking for a four star or higher hotel this is not your place. But if you’re looking for a laid-back friendly atmosphere this is a good pick.

Needs some updates, staff friendly and the food okay.

We loved our time at Golden Parnassus. Most notably the staff made the experience. Jose, Fermin, Lorenzo, Noe, Mariana and many others went above and beyond to make our stay fun, relaxing and personable. When we go back to Cancun, we will absolutely stay here again.

Unfortunately this property completed dropped the ball and ruined our vacation and my husbands annual birthday trip. None stop from beginning to end. Wrong room given at check in. Hair all over bathroom, not once, not twice, but THREE times (2nd and 3rd times it was "cleaned" by a supervisor. Tuh!) No pillows on our bed, was told they would bring some up for our king sized bed and it never happened, was forced to use the single pillow in the closet and our airplane neck pillows on night 1, we didn't get pillows until day 2. Room was serviced on day 2 but they did not leave a comforter or top blanket for the bed, we had to use the ugly brown scratchy one that they had in the closet, which would usually be used for pullout bed. Also the FD agent would not give me "pool towel keys" she stated that we received them at check in, i explained to her that we never received them as she stated because they had out the gate dropped the ball with our room so the agent clearly forgot when he was trying to argue with me about the room we clearly booked and paid for. Just give me the pool towel keys, they aren't GOLD! On day 3 we were FINALLY able to move to our originally booked room type only to find that the lights in the bathroom were not working and the toilet would not flush. Oh did i mention that they made my husband pack up all of his items and come down to the from the desk and wait 2-3hrs before the new room was ready? Unbelievable. Never ONCE did we receive an apology from staff.

No dinner reservations is great. But after paying big bucks to become club members, not being upgraded or even given a fruit basket is very disappointing and certainly not right.

The property was fine, but very small. It was a little dated in some areas. Beautiful beach and pool. I had a couple of really tasty meals at the Shangrila , otherwise the food was adequate. The buffet was ok. The front desk staff was ok. The wait staff at Pier 12 were a little curt to me, not responsive and not the service you would expect from a supposed fine restaurant. At the Shangrila, they had a formal dress code which others were allowed to break. . The two gift shops were ok, nothing really worth buying. My room looked towards the Barn restaurant. It was very basic, no mini bar. You only get two bottles of water a day, after that they charge you 10 pesos. You are charged for any calls. The entertainment at the theater was nice. The entertainment staff near the pool were a lot of fun. especially Martin. The pool tiki bar was nice, service doesn't start until noon. The drinks were very sweet and weak. The house wine at the restaurants were cheap brands. After the night show is over, the hotel is very loud until the early morning hours so forget about going to bed early. This is a very basic resort. Not for someone looking for an luxury experience. It was a let down compared to other resorts I have stayed at, but it is a good value for the money.

Our stay was very disappointing. Every night our sleep was disrupted by slamming doors on the Oceanside side of the property. Because people’s balcony doors were open, the wind from that side of the building makes the doors on those rooms slam so loud, I almost had a heart attack every time it happened. I don’t know why the staff can’t place simple mechanisms on the doors to keep them from doing that. The staff was extremely uncaring about the situation and also made no effort to quiet the unreasonably loud group of about 6 spring breakers that were there. They were literally screaming at the top of their lungs outside and screaming in the already echoey lobby and the staff just let it happen. On top of that the entire hotel was without air conditioning for an entire day of our stay. They said it would be off from 7am-6pm but it wound up being off until 7am the next day with no warning or apology from the staff. They lied to us twice saying it would be back on at 8pm and then again at 10:30pm but it never returned. We asked them to bring us a fan and they said yes but never brought it. There’s just a general lack of concern for guests once you’re checked in. The only redeeming thing about the place was the service staff and food. It’s ironic that the front desk staff, the people that are trained in customer service, are actually the least helpful there. They should switch places with the waitstaff. The waitstaff would do a better job. Do NOT stay here.

Upon arrival, we were told to sit & wait. We waited and was not greeted by reception. When we finally got our room we had two double beds and it smelled as soon as you opened the door. They did switch us to their “best room” but it was by far not the best room I’ve seen. The smell of mildew was a little less though. Rooms are very outdated w 30 yr old coffee pots, cracked tiles and paint chipping. The pictures of the resort online look vastly different. Then it was time to check out the rest of the resort.. we were never provided any information on activities, restaurants or where things were. We had to learn on our own .. apparently customer service wasn’t included just like the internet which cost us $30 for our 3 lousy nights. We come to Cancun every year and this was by far our worst experience at this resort. We are used to staff going above and beyond. Here some were simply just rude!! I could go on and on but it’s time to put this trip behind me.

The property was really clean. I didn’t like that the same people saved their chairs each and every morning at 6am and we’re left unattended for hours and still were able to save them each morning for a weeks time.

Love that proprrty is small, but includes plenty of delicious food and fun bars. Not crowded.

Love that resort is small and has plenty of amenaties

There was someone constantly cleaning the hotel. The property is dated but clean. Disappointed in the restaurants. Japanese is confusing with a small hibachi grill in what looks like a former bar area. Sit down menu needs explaining by staff. Steak house good, ribs not so much. Filet very good. Pier 12 was a blend of Italian items and traditional seafood dishes. Little confusing, Lasagna or stuffed grouper? Shangri La supposed to be high end. Allowing patrons in with baseball caps lowers that ambience. Beverage quality and selections very good. Best house wine and champagne we have had in any Mexico all- inclusive. For the price worth looking at again.
