The rooms were fine and it was nice to be on the beach. However, it was frustrating that people would reserve their beach and poolside chairs with a towel by 6am and you had to pay extra if you wanted an umbrella on the beach. The beach was full of cigarette butts and the pool needed cleaning. The food was very disappointing. Every meal was a buffet and chaotic. Food did not taste like it should and all the drinks were really watered down. The "Orange juice"was Orange infused water. We have buffet PTSD as it felt like we were going into combat for our meal. There were 2 restaurants that had an actual sit down meal but it was very hard to get seated. There are no reservations so again we had to get in line very early to have a chance at being seated and the food was still just ok. I would not recommend this resort to friends. If we do another all inclusive resort, we will go back to a Beaches resort. Food and service there was outstanding.

We have stayed at 5 different Rius in Mexico in the last 4 years and this was extremely disappointing. The beach was very dirty. Cigarette buts everywhere. Not the hotels fault but they did nothing to clean it up. Food was very limited and the same everyday. Would never stay at this hotel again and reconsidering staying in any Riu in the future.

This was our fifth stay at an all inclusive in Mexico. Our check in was uninformitive without the usual charms of arrival. The rooms were tolerable in cleanliness and decoration. The entertainment was non existent. Most disappointing was the food. Out of four of us, two got sick. We ended up eating out 5 times. Also there were not enough beach chairs or pool chairs. You have to “save” your spot by 8:30 am. Please look elsewhere to spend your vacation time and money.

Traveled to PV 5+ times. Front desk experience was negative. Took such a long time and I don't believe there was anyone in line when we arrived. Their attitude was negative and not at all kind or welcoming. This may not apply to all staff, but to those we experienced checking in on 11/4. Rooms- while clean- have a musty smell. This has been the similar exp in our previous visits to RIU properties. I did not feel comfortable going into the pool. It did NOT feel clean. All of the family went into the pool except for me and they had stomach aches for DAYS after we returned. Food was 5 stars (except for desserts and lunch ice cream). Most of the desserts are jello/mouse style and the lunch buffet ice cream is super runny. Better less selection but higher quality. The non-dessert foods were excellent. I'm a gourmet cook, we regularly eat out, and I cannot imagine the cuisine of those who complain about food. Beach- large, spacious, with palm trees. Ocean water is EXTREMELY dark and murky. Be prepared that you will not see a bit into the water. On the plus side- it's very warm and shallow very far in. Good for kids. Orbitz advertised a Kid-Stay-Eat-Free promo for this hotel. We ended up paying approximately $900 for our kids. After numerous conversations with hotel management and Orbitz, they did not honor the advertisement. Do not anticipate to ever book through Orbitz again, unless I need to use up points. Terrible customer service towards a loyal customer.

The beach was awesome. The hotel was great. It's as if they had the formula for running an all inclusive hotel correctly. I heard many complimenting the staff. Including myself.

Lots of activities, close to beach. Enjoyed the night time shows

We had a great stay. Personally thanks to the lobby personal they are great and great personality. Thanks to the bar tenders special thanks to Guillermo and Eduardo they were awesome, every night they treat us like if we were part of their family. Cannot wait to go back.

Great overall experience. Good food good staff and best of all good price.

Excellent services all around. Simply the best. Would recommend to anyone. Good food drinks and service

We had a nice time, what we didn't like where the mosquitoes, he must happen all the time, the convenience store inside did not have any mosquito repellent, in a place like this should be well-stocked, I checked every day I kept saying no no no don't have any, the food was okay, we liked it better at the Cabo San Lucas.... also one other thing, I ordered a bottle of champagne from a wife and I, 35th Anniversary, the morning of our anniversary at the front desk, they said it will be arriving around 3, I said great it never came, so I called at 5 they told me nothing was ordered, they told me that it would be there after 7, that was to late, it was supposed to be surprised I was not very happy..... it finally came very late we are out at a time, all they did was put a bottle of champagne on a counter for two glasses no ice no container it was very what not very romantic......

The staff was awesome and kind. For being all inclusive it wasn't that bad meaning drinks and food, room bar was filled every 2 days which was nice. The problem were the beds, they were hard as rock. I requested a change of beds and they said they were all the same, though they did offer to put some extra padding with made it a little more tolerable. The last 2 days their A/C went out which was not cool because of high humidity. Their pool hours are not great the're closed by 7pm. Other than that it was an ok experience but wouldn't do it again.

What can I say I loved it loved it loved it loved it

My family has always loved the RIU resorts and have vacationed in multiple of them but, this one was a disappointment. We travel with kids most of the time, to start with our room...had bed bugs:(, first night my kids woke up with lots of bites all over their bodies that swallowed up like an allergic reaction, at first we thought they could be mosquitoes but decided to check the bed and found bugs. We reported and had a bed changed...not the room. It took a few days for the bites to get and look better to where y kids were not in pain and start enjoying the hotel. The staff is always great, had a hard time with the drinks, being an all inclusive alcohol is always free, however, at this location all drinks with exceptions of wine had so much sugar (very sweet) they were impossible for us to drink must of them. We were constantly asking to not add any sugar or sweeteners and by day 3 decided to drink wine or beer only. Bottle water was not provided other that some left in the room fridge. Restaurants...they have 3 dinner restaurants but 2 seating is limited (small rooms), 2 buffets that alternate times...food was the same everyday. Lastly, the WiFi. There is free WiFi on open areas, but if you want to use in enclosed areas...like the gym you need to pay an extra daily charge. The free areas also limited to the use of 2 devices per room. I do not wish to be so negative about this hotel...just want to mention that this location doesn't live up to the expectations of must RIU's

The towel thing it's ridiculous how they don't let you exchange a wet towel to a dry/clean one. You stuck with same towel all day until you return it oh and adults pool it's nasty and dirty.

Great staff, great facility! Raul, Graciela, Omar-Muchos, Muchos Gracias!!!!!!

this is our second time staying at a Riu resort and after this one we will not stay anywhere else!!!! very nice hotel, beds and pillows are horrible but I haven't stayed in mexico where they were comfy. AMAZING views!!!!! we got the junior suite with ocean view. we had a large group and everyone was very happy with their views!! pools were great. Food.... well nothing spectacular but good for buffet food. entertainment was great!!! Beaches were AMAZING also, and not overflowing with vendors. we had a lot of fun and will definitely be coming back. Puerto Vallarta is a wonderful place.

Pools and beach are nice, but you have to get to the pool early if you want a chair. Food was good with a variety to choose from. Room was just okay, a bit dated and the bed was very hard and the hide-a-bed for the kids was very uncomfortable.

Food, staff, facilities were all excellent. Would recommend.

The food at this place was not so great. Breakfast was literally the same thing everyday at both buffet places. The staff working the eating areas did not offer drinks or asked if anything was needed. Stayed here for a week and the last 4 days we ate out everyday because we were already tired of the same foods. We did speak with one of the attendants on this matter and were advised it all had to do with the owner trying to keep a low budget. No one will be thrown under the bus but just had to put it out there. Besides this our room was clean everday, fridge stocked with water, pop and beer. Would I stay at Riu Vallarta again? No! I would rather try out one of the other Riu's in the area.

The minute you walk in and register, the staff makes you feel so welcome. We were fortunate enough to get a suite overlooking the pool. Beautiful room and great view. We enjoyed drinking our cup of coffee on the deck in the morning and enjoyed that last drink of the day there as well. The night activities have something for all ages. The bartenders work very hard in trying to please their customers. We enjoyed a great week of relaxing on the beach. We have been going back to the Vallarta for the last 5 years. We truly enjoy the hospitality and the great view.
