staff the best good location to 5th ave a little small hotel for me

Wonderful hotel, with a friendly staff. Room was nice, cleaned and restocked daily, with great air conditioning and WiFi. We used the Spa and would highly recommend! Beautiful views! Close to 5th avenue for a day of shopping.

We have stayed at this hotel before and really enjoyed our time there. The staff is so willing to assist you to make your stay even better. It was great to see Anna was still at the reservations desk and she was able to get us our room that we had stayed in before and also have our kids room right next to us where we shared a balcony. Entertainment every night was great and we were there for Taco Night and we really enjoyed it. Since they changed from Gran Porto to Panama Jack, the only disappointing thing was the food. Il Pescatore was no longer there and they said the staff could make what we would like from their old menu, but it wasn't good at all. I am not sure they understood what we were asking for and just put something together. Also, Maria's food had changed and there wasn't much to choose from like there was before. Maria's Mayan Coffee is still the best and with a great presentation. The 24hr "café" also seemed to have the same stuff and not much of a variety that they use to have. Not everyone likes seafood and it seemed to me there was always a lot there. The Coffee Bar is new and was a great addition. By no means did we starve but it would have been nice to have more of a variety of food.

Wr had a very enjoyable time and the whole staff made us feel very welcomed and were very helpful in everything and did ut with a smile ! I beleive your Staff all need to be commended for their hard work and attitude, They really are Who made the visit so enjoyable and pleasant . Great group of staff and they will make Panama Jack very successful!

+: 1. Service staff was great, always ready to help you out & get you what you need. 2. Room was very nice. 3. Enjoyed the mimosas and buffet each morning. 4. Pool area was pretty nice & entertainment staff was decent. 5. Location to 5th Ave. -: 1. Upon arrival we upgraded to the junior suite with a beach walk out that included the cabana. Finally got to our room, went outside and were immediately disappointed. Had we been able to see the cabana location & the state of the ocean we would have never paid the extra $560. Cabana was located in the back row behind 3/4 rows of lounge chairs & right next to the cabana beside us. Random people used the cabanas and didn't pay for them, security never did anything about it. Ocean was disgusting. We get that there's nothing that can be done about mother nature and her seaweed, but surely the hotel could have it removed quicker & not let it rot and stink. 2. Food - NOT good. First the Italian restaurant was being remodeled so that left Brazilian Steakhousk, Serape & the buffet. Brazilian place was absolutely disgusting-food was overcooked (I like my stuff well done, but geesh), fatty, greasy, YUCKY. Serape was ok-nothing special. Buffet for lunch & dinner wasn't good either. Only thing that was kinda good was the beach/poolside lunch that the servers brought. Jack 24 place was GROSS. The cheese was laying there totally melted and sweating. 3. Shows at night were pretty boring. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

We had a wonderful time. The kids loved the pool. I loved the friendly staff. The offerings for activities were numerous, varied, and worthwhile. We hope to return next summer!

Excellent the staff was amazing! I asked for ceviche and they prepared some for my husband and me! It was the best I’ve had! Great job!

There is no beach available. It's very disappointing going to the beach and not able to get into the ocean.

we loved the resort food was great especially steak at Italian restaurant all the staff was very friendly and went out of way to help enjoy your stay.

Requested a standard room with a king size bed upon booking. When checking in they told us that they don’t have king size bed in standard rooms but it’s in option at booking?. Please take care of that. Maybe they do it so we can upgrade because they did tell me you can get a king size for $40 more a night. Aside from that our room had a leakage from the A/C took them about 2 phone calls later to send some one over. Once fixed it let our room very smelly.

We booked and paid for ocean front room. When arrived were given ocean view. We complained and were then moved 2 days later but no refund of any money. The buffet was closed several nights. The Mexican restaurant food is not good but the Italian restaurant is excellent. The rooms are set up for families including the high end rooms with bunk beds, double beds, etc. The staff are excellent and accommodating although does not appear to be as many staff. The day of check out, the only elevator was not working. There was limited Canadian alcohol and it was not replaced. We had been coming to the Grand Porto (previous to Panama Jack) for several years and loved it. We will not be returning.

This hotel had clean rooms and friendly staff. The beach was nice but there is a lot of seaweed that washes up which is not the most pleasant. This hotel is just 2 blocks from 5th avenue which has great shopping and some wonderful restaurants. The biggest downfall of this hotel is the restaurants. Except for breakfast, the food was marginal. I would not return to this hotel solely based on the food quality. We were thankful on the days that we took excursions that provided food because it was much better than the hotel food. Everything else about the hotel is 4 star.

Highly recommend for exceptional customer service and bring family friendly. I will definitely return to this resort for its cleanliness and access to the beach and excursions outside of the resort.

We like that the beach, shopping and all other stuff was within a walk or a short drive from us.

My point of comparison is The Royal, Playa Del Carmen just across the street. Since we were bringing our4 year old for the first time we chose this hotel for the location. I assume the Royal is close to the top of the list in terms of over all service and food choices. I guess I'm too picky because after a few days the food gets repetitive and there is almost always an issue with the freshness aspect of the food when it sits out on a buffet line. So with the Gran Porto there was a noticeable decrease in the overall food quality and selection that is probably pretty typical of these resorts. On the other hand, my wife thinks the food is generally good. The main good point of this hotel is the location, just a few blocks from 5th avenue shops. The cons: this area of beach is not nearly as wide as it was 5 years ago. The ocean directly in front of the hotel is not very swimmable due to rocks and manamade seawalls, the ocean directly in front had a foul odor at times that was not noticeable when walking north along the beach, reserved a room with king bed and were told only offered 2 queens, our room had bunk beds too which were a negative - too dangerous for my 4 year old son, construction noise, pools not heated/too cold (I think this is everywhere in Riviera maya),

Jose of the bar wait staff was awesome. Carlos, Manuel and Miguel always keep us moving

25th wedding anniversary get away

We have stayed at this hotel before and really enjoyed our time there. The staff is so willing to assist you to make your stay even better.
