Super disappointed disappointed at orbit and the riu palace corporation because we went thinking that we were going to have full access to the hotel restaurants and amenities that hotel was about to close for remodeling so everything was half capacity I feel that that's super unprofessional from the traveling agent and the hotel that they were selling tickets full price and was not going to get the full experience .the staff did an amazing job and keeping the guess is happy as they could with what they had I cannot complain about the stuff they were amazing . But both of the major companies like the hotel and the traveling agent should take responsibility and not book hotels whenever you're going through closing or remodeling and not going to be able to get your money's worth.

Location of the property, the beach area is very beautiful. The grounds are well maintained. The staff is very friendly and trying to make your stay personal / Thank you Fabiola and Moe/. Food was delicious. The food and atmosphere from all of the Restaurants on the property the Mexcan /La Bodega/ was above all for me. The property and rooms need mager renovation!!!! Rooms were amazing maybe 10-15 years ago, not now. We had constant problems with the room entry key. In general we had great experience

Clean rooms…staff very friendly as our 3 time back to this hotel. Food is okay but not great…..pool and beach area are excellent for the property. 2 negatives….room card system not good and needs to keep on going to front desk to reset and room plugs for electronics are worn out. Overall would recommend as a good value and the staff make it very enjoyable.

The staff at the resortamazing !! It was a birthday trip and I have never had such an amazing birthday from singing to decorating my room and the attention to detail was excellent! The steakhouse was our favorite steak lobster and shrimp. Also some our group went fishing and they cooked our catch at the steakhouse restaurant on property and it was superb ! The doorman Francisco was or favorite employee there however they were so many awesome employees!

We booked a king size bed with reservations well in advance and we got a room with 2twin size beds pushed together. Who sleeps in the crack? Looks like the strike plate on the door was recently replaced and had to be adjusted a bit because part of the wood on the door trim was broken and missing.. obviously this room was broken into to and the hotel was too cheap to replace the door and surrounding trim. Made us feel all warm and cozy for our 7 night stay. Locking the deadbolt was tricky and we had to lift and move the door to one side to get it to lock. Hotel was full and no changes could be made. The toilet area was separate and smaller than bathroom on a plane. Even my wife who is petite almost hit her knees on the door while sitting on the toilet. It’s that small and tight.. and everything is old. Rooms very outdated. Opening and closing patio door is also a treat.. screen ripped and door is warped. We will not stay there again. Staff was friendly and food was good. Beach was nice. Otherwise this would be 1 star rating at best.

Our stay at Riu Palace Mexico was truly exceptional, and the biggest reason was the outstanding staff and customer service throughout the resort. From the moment we arrived, every team member was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. The front desk staff made check-in smooth and stress-free, always ready to help with a smile. Housekeeping was impeccable—our room was spotless every day, and small thoughtful touches made us feel truly cared for. The restaurant and bar staff deserve special recognition. They were professional, friendly, and consistently went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and satisfied. Whether it was remembering our preferences, offering recommendations, or simply making us feel valued, their dedication truly stood out. What impressed us most was how authentic and personal the service felt. The staff didn’t just do their jobs—they made us feel like guests, not just tourists. That level of hospitality is rare and made our stay memorable. Riu Palace Mexico is a beautiful resort, but it’s the people who make it exceptional. We would absolutely return and highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for excellent service and a genuinely welcoming experience.

Very Disappointing Stay We stayed at Riu Palace Mexico, Playa del Carmen, expecting a 5-star all-inclusive experience, but it was extremely disappointing. Our first room was dirty and poorly maintained — broken bathroom, heavy dust everywhere, and very old, worn furniture. We immediately requested a room change. Even after we paid extra for an upgraded room, we were told we still had to wait 24 hours before being moved. When we were finally placed in the upgraded room the next day, the situation became even worse. That evening, after returning from dinner and turning on the lights, around 20 cockroaches ran across the room. It was absolutely disgusting. I am attaching photos and videos as proof. I tried calling the service desk multiple times that night, but no one answered. The next morning, management again told us to wait another 24 hours, which we refused. After several hours, we were moved to a different room. By then, three of our six vacation days were lost. The front desk staff and management were unhelpful and dismissive. When we asked for compensation, they offered a free massage, which did not address the seriousness of the issue. RIU corporate referred us to Expedia, since we booked through them, and we are still waiting for a response. The food was mediocre and mostly tasteless, including the Christmas Eve dinner. The beach was nice, but there was no beach service, towels were old and limited to one per person.
