The rooms were beautifully decorated. The views from the balcony are spectacular. Some of the best in San Miguel. Be prepared for a hike up the hill from the center of town. That’s the only downside. You can take a Taxi for $5 though. The staff are lovely and accommodating.

Great views and comfort, big room

Great views from terrace and convenient little restaurant for quick bite and drink with incredible views. About a five minute drive away from town. And down the street from a couple of quaint little restaurants. The staff was very helpful. Be wary of the walk up till the place because it's steep and not kind to those with trouble walking out with kids

The room was excellent, very clean and spacious. Even though the room Did not have an iron and ironing board, front desk got us one in a few minutes. Did not like the location, it was not walking distance from downtown and had to take an Uber to go everywhere. The hotel has a very steep and long entrance and sometimes your transportation leaves you at the sidewalk and you have to walk up to the hotel which is very exhausting.

Ilo Rojo is on hill, a steep hill. And at first it seems daunting, but it is worth the climb. Our room had a generous balcony/terrace that looked over the city and beyond. The staff here are extremely efficient, helpful and friendly (a special shout-out to Lupita, Martin and Angel). There is a bus stop almost outside the entrance, which runs every 5 minutes or so it seems and for a whopping 8 pesos you don't have to walk the 20 minutes to downtown (or more importantly back up.) The restaurant is small with a simple menu, but no matter, there is an abundance of fantastic restaurants in the town. There is a lot to see and do in San Miguel de Allende, and Ilo Rojo is great spring board to start them We'll be back
