My family had a great time. The food was ok, the pools and beach areas are beautiful.

We had a wonderful time, and will definitely return to the island !

We had a great time on our trip, but it was away from the hotel where we had to find it. This was our sixth stay in Cozumel and our first at El Cozumeleno. We are not picky by any means...but we felt we were a huge burden to the staff all week long. Jose, Santiago & Angel (An-hel) were amazing servers! Fernando and his activities people were awful!! We couldn't believe how they could be so rude and disgusted with guests, especially with the "stressful" job they have. Fernando lied to us about the "yellow boats willl kill you" if you snorkel out too far and taking the kayaks out too far in the ocean. The only place you can kayak is in an area that's about 3 times an Olympic swimming pool. Fernando said it was because they "had a decease out there" I asked another worker about it and they said no, he likes to scare people that way. We stayed at the hotel for a couple days where the American & Mexican rap music played all day and into the night around the pool and eating areas until we had to get away to town and around the island. We had WAY more fun doing that! The food was amazing downtown and on other parts of the island. I could write a lot more, but don't want to get my blood pressure up too high. We'll never stay again and I hope the management does something to make El Cozumeleno a happier vacationing place for future guests.

March 2017 visit with group of 8....The food was very good and the Snorkeling in front of hotel is great! The staff could have been more accommodating. Months ago we asked for rooms together but they could not accommodate this. We had to beg for bottles of water. Towels had to be turned in every single day by 7:00 or charged $25. Many days we had to go looking for the activities. Waiters in the buffet and the dining were very good as well as the waiters on the beach! (Russell) Bartenders at the snack bar were not friendly at all. Many times we felt like we were bothering them... .

Waiters were very friendly, especially Russell. Bar tenders not as much .... Food was very good. We liked the option of ordering off menu for variety.

Never have we been disappointed with our stay. I just wish they had more beach area.

Hotel was great. Staff went out their way to make sure you had a good time. Don't purchase transportation from Orbitz. Return ride not supplied.

Enjoyed it, it was fun! Staff was great! Lots to do!!

Hotel has a very nice beach and excellent ocean view from your room. Beach does not have enough beach chairs for all their guests. Beds and pillows were very hard and uncomfortable. overall good value for my money spent.

The view was awesome. The beds were very uncomfortable. The bedspreads were dirty, one had blood on it. The air conditioner was extremely noisy, but it worked well. We were given 1 bottle of water to share between 2 people for a 24 hour period. The staff were friendly, but had trouble understanding us. We couldn't get our questions answered. One lamp was missing a lampshade.

Had a great time. There was a lot of food and drinks to choice from. The hotel may need to invest in more palapas for shade. Also the the house keeping needs to not go into the room when the do not disturb sigh is up. Overall wonderful.

Staff was some of the best we ever encountered from all of our travels. Food quality is the only thing I can complain about. Our whole family and many others got sick during our stay don't know if it was the food at the resort but didn't take a chance the rest of our stay and left without eating the last 4 day's.

Very nice hotel. Room always felt wet and sticky. Food was ok but not great.

Great hotel and staff. Rooms are clean. You can eat at the buffet or order from a menu. For evening dining you can choose their fancy restaurant. It is a quiet, family friendly resort. We have children ages 2 to 23 and there was something for everyone to do. The staff was always ready to help and very friendly.

Overall a very nice place to stay when in town for a period of time. It's not in the most convenient location being on north side of island, but the place itself is well kept up and the staff is always helpful. Pool area is huge and always spots to lay out available. Beach area with thatch umbrellas is nice as well. If you want to get in the water it's setup very well as there are 2 cement piers that basically mark the borders of the property leaving a large area which stays very calm and free of most waves making the swim and snorkeling more enjoyable. There were always plenty of fish to see the the piers are beginning to act as a natural reef with lots of growth and critters on the walls. The only negative we found was the a la cart restaurant had a dress code of casual it said. But casual for men means no shorts of any sort or open toed shoes. The casual for women didn't have these stipulations. Even more surprising was after getting long pants to wear for myself, my wife was turned away as she was wearing linen shorts. It seems to me this is a resort and casual or beach casual needs to be rethought. The food at the a la carte was better than the standard buffet fair outside. Also this restaurant requires reservations between 8am and 4pm the day you will be going only which is mildly inconvenient. The staff is outstanding and helped any way they could and were very personable overall.

The facilities at cozumeleno were good. The food was ok. Sometimes better than others. The staff was amazing and very friendly. I cannot recommend using the dive facilities.

Hotel staff were great. Weather was hot but nice. Air in room was cold!! Pro's location and coming during the slow season. Cons. Bugs! Ants on balcony, mosquitos at night. Bring bug spray

To start off many of the reviews I read on this hotel were extremely off putting after I had already booked my trip. So I will just breakdown the reality of what compares to what I read. We did stay on what would be considered the new side and did have keys cards. We did receive a safe key on a lanyard and 2 towel cards. For some that reviewed this hotel the fact you had to keep up with two cards for the 4 minutes to walk from your room to the towel location was just too much to handle. Honestly these were probably the same people who complained about no shots....well they must not have deserved shots because as a responsible adult I was never told no. I was even offered premium liquor from behind the counter. On the subject of drinks. Are they served in clear plastic bottles?...yep. They were labeled just not like what you may be used to and judging from some activities at the pool they weren't watered down either. The beds are firm and not pillow top. Did this ruin my vacation....no it's a bed and in reality I was in it for a minimal period of time...which was still longer than you and your family of 4 since I was alone with my wife. The AC in my room was always more than comfortable and at times even too cold. SO cold in fact be prepared to blow dry your camera lens before stepping out unless you want it to fog up on you instantly. Overall the staff and hotel was great...shout out to Miguel for taking great care of us.

My family of five stayed there for 5 nights. It was a good place for a great price. The snorkeling right in front of the hotel was better than expected. Many fish, rays, we even saw an eel. Beautiful water and views. Easy to plan excursions that pick you up on the pier. The rooms we had were huge with incredible view of the beach. Our bed was very comfortable but my kids' was pretty hard. A/C in rooms kept us very cool! Staff was very friendly and helpful, especially front desk. We had an issue and they fixed it with a smile. Lobby staff was especially helpful, thank you Hector. The buffet food was average at best. However, if you are willing to get up early and make reservations for the formal dining, which I did 3 times, the food and service was amazing. Well worth getting up early for. The drinks were pretty weak, but if you ask the bartender to add a little more or make it double they would. Some of the menu drinks were pretty bad, so it's better to order what you want. They only have XX beer, so hope you like that brand. We had a lot of fun on the sand volleyball court. The place is pretty dated, looks early 90's, but was clean, and kept up. Close to town and airport so cheap and quick taxi rides. For the price that we got this, I'd definitely stay again.

El Cozumeleno was a nice base camp for our adventure in Cozumel. This is definitely a value hotel so if your picky or have to pay a lot for this resort I would advise against staying here. The AC in the rooms is great but every where else they kept the temp at about 80 degrees and while the mixed drinks are delicious they are watered down until you request a "double" or just order beer/wine. The food is decent if you order off the menu, Ive had better dinner reservation food elsewhere. Room service is free! The snorkeling out front is better than most paid destinations with free gear and kayaks.
