Don’t stay here if you value honesty. Or having no extra resort fees. Or a mold free environment. Or a safe put together building and floors. Or if you enjoy air conditioner in the building or in your sleeping room. Or if you like a bed that doesn’t sag down like the back of an old horse. Or a stain free sitting area on your own hotel couch and chairs to the lobby. Or a malaria free/ minimal mosquito biting because someone treats for them on site: don’t stay here if any of those matter to you. If I was there to just get sloppy drunk, it wouldn’t bother me to want what is insinuated in the pictures on orbitz and website. To want my family to not get sick or hurt, but I came for a family vacation in good taste and clean safety. This hotel doesn’t deserve this beach. But good news is you can stay at any down the same beach and have a beautiful short walk to wherever you want to, even right in front of this uninhabitable-would be shutdown in the USA-who don’t have the amenity’s they advertise and shamelessly lie to us about so many things including 100’s of more dollars forced to pay at check in and when finally getting into the rooms you don’t want to touch anything from the wet hairy shower to stains that are no doubt from water, food, liquor, dirt, body fluids, and etc…Would not refund and would not let us go back up into our paid rooms to take photos to show Orbitz. WARNING:they told Orbitz that they didn’t know we had any problems and canceled. Lies. ORBITZ WONT REFUND!! RUN

We absolutely loved our stay here. The beach was wonderful and so many fish you can see while snorkeling. The staff is wonderful and so very nice, they definitely make sure you are taken care of. The food is great, German and Roger will get you taken care of at the buffet. Fatima at the front desk is very nice, and if it’s too hot in your room, they will put a fan in your room for you. We loved it at El Cozumeleño. Cant wait to be back in December.

We have been to several.ptoperties in Cozumel. This property needs an upgrade that goes with their nightly rate. The front desk ia not very welcoming. The room we ended up inhad a toilet that did not work. The rooms should be inspected before a guest goes in. It says there are breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet. Only breakfast is buffet. And it is very limited. No oatmeal to eat. Only for fruit. Angelica and her morning crew were very nice. And the dinner crew, eapecially Manuel were stupendous. The dinner made up for all the craziness. I dont know if we would stay there again. The beach area was unforgettable though.

The staff was super accommodating and very courteous. The food wasnt as good as it was 10 years ago when we stayed there. However you could always get fresh tacos, quesadillas, nachos, omelettes, bacon and pizza. We love the beach access and snorkeling off of the pier. The hotel just needs some TLC and upgrades. We met a couple who stays there for 2 months out of the year and said the owner is in the process of makong upgrades. We wpupd stay there again becaise of the staff

Their property was really nice and they were doing some repairs which is nice because they’re working on the upkeep. Our room was good and cold. The only thing I would say is maybe a touch dark. But I like to read so I like a bedside lamp at each side of the bed, but that was no big deal. The beach was nice and clean w very little seaweed and they had guacamole every time I asked

I’ve been traveling to Mexico for a long time and have never had an incident occur before like at this property. Discrimination to the point of being unserved and waited hours for check in even though the resort was quite sleepy compared to others. My daughter and I sat at a restaurant for an entire hour and watched others that came in after us being served. After complaining to management they appeared to take our complaint seriously and put us in another reservation only restaurant. However, some time in between our complaint and dining in another restaurant someone was in our room even though the do not disturb sign was on the door. They left a washcloth on the night stand, no cleaning was done so unsure why except to think it’s because they knew we were in the restaurant being interrogated about our complaint. I say interrogated because multiple staff came by wanting to know the situation even though it had already been discussed. We were so uncomfortable after all of this (mind you the questions went on for over an hour) and after noticing someone had been in the room we felt targeted for speaking up that we decided to leave. The manager with a name similar to Julietta said we would be charged for two nights (only stayed one but this was nearing evening of second night) and then a penalty of one more night. However after leaving they have retracted and are refusing to refund. We had to find another hotel and get a taxi. It was all a very unnerving event.

Most of the staff was extremely supportive and nice. The waiters at the restaurant/beach, Aldo, Emilio, Manuel, among others whose name I cannnot remember where the highlight of my stay. One of the managers, Gloria was very rude, telling me on a few occasions that I was not allowed to bring food to my room from the restaurant, when the other employees, including the “captain” at the main restaurant physically handed us a to go plate to take back to our room after dinner. Gloria always had an attitude and was very rude when asking questions. Saying she was going to report the incident that we were taking food back to our room. There were a couple of issues with the property. There were a lot of ants in our room, to the point where they got on the bed. The water pressure on the bathroom was very poor, the AC did not work properly, there were cracks on every surface, the cleaning crew were not leaving towels in our room every time they came to clean. The beach was okay. There was a lot of dirt everywhere, which honestly is a failing on the guests. A lot of cigarette butts all over the beach and the smell of it was extremely unpleasant considering it was right next to the beach and on the sand. The food was also extremely mediocre. On my previous stays at all inclusive resorts I was always blown away by the food and their flavors, on this occasion it wasn’t anything special and I was not excited to eat until I went to the center where I actually had great food.

The pool was filthy with green water. Pool bar was closed for the season… The faucets were crusty in sink & shower; 50% of the time, we couldn’t get hot water. The birds in the dining room were nasty! The views were beautiful, the waitstaff was perfect!

*MUST READ* This is one of many reviews that I'll be leaving for this place as I'll be writing them on different platforms as well. This resort far exceeded my expectations as I read the other reviews prior to arrival, particularly the negative ones. Let me tell you, the negative ones are just completely irrelevant. I'm an American from Tx, I know what it's like to feel entitled, and that is all those negative reviews were.. They were entitled people who expected to feel like they were in the most luxurious place ever. As luxurious as this place truly is, it is no place for you to EXPECT luxury. If you don't want to eat meals in a beautiful tropical hut with nature (birds) around you, then do not come here. If you expect completely modern architecture with the newest model rooms and appliances, then do not come here. But if you expect the true island experience with beautiful older architecture, beautiful turquoise waters, along with the most beautiful people you can meet, then please consider this resort. The staff are some of the hardest workers I have ever met, not only do they work hard, but they do it with a smile on their face.. That is a luxury that I'm not used to back in TX. It truly is beautiful and almost makes me shed a tear thinking about them as we really do take so many things for granted in the US. They all speak excellent English but please have the respect to communicate with them in their language, even if you're not fluent. Thank you.

This place was the worst . Don't do it . Spend the extra money to book Melia two hotels down. The food was nasty. They only had buffets every once in a while . Birds were eating off the plates if you left to get up . They would eat off the spoons or tongs that were left by buffet when they had it . The pool was nasty green and pool bar was closed . They said it was closed because it's slow season. This is main reason I booked it . Tried to save money and it not me in the tail . I've been last three summers and usually stay at Melia resort. Beds were hard. Toilet tan all night. Had to jiggle handle . I was embarrassed I rented this and had to explain to my family members that this isn't normal.I don't leave reviews but I could wait to get back home and leave this one . Believe the negative reviews you read about this place .
