I like that this property is on the ocean, and you can see the ocean from your room. I also like that it has a beach, and not just a rocky drop-off. I really like that it has affordability at times so that I can go. Everyone is very nice and they really try to serve you and make your stay pleasurable. We had a wonderful time there. I have stayed there many times and will return if possible! Donna Prince

I have been visiting Cozumel every few years for the diving since 1988 and have stayed in a number of facilities. This was our first stay at El Cozumeleno and it exceeded our expectations. The staff were friendly and attentive. The facility was in good repair. The restaurant menus were appropriate for an all inclusive facility. My only negative comment is that there was no information notebook in the rooms. A small but potentially important piece for someone not familiar with Cozumel.

Hotel room is clean, bed is comfortable, nice beach and snorkeling. Friendly staffs. Internet is spotty at times, and can’t get any signals in my room. Foods are just okay, but overall experience is nice. Don’t mind going back again.

The beds weren't the most comfortable, but I think the thing that bothered me the most was the lack of entertainment at night. Most people sat in the lobby watching tv on the big screen and playing on their phones, as the lobby area was where you could get WIFI.

We enjoyed the location and the service was excellent. We were disappointed in the food selection for the Buffett style dinning. It was basically the same food all week. We were also very disappointed to see that the kid center was no longer staffed. My children loved the planned activities and looked forward to spending time there. In the past a photographer was available with different animals daily at the resort. This was also a big hit with our family. Overall, our stay was good. It just paled in comparison to our past years at the resort.

The pool area is nice but the hotel is terrible! Our room was in the old part of the hotel and it was very nasty. You could smell the mold in the shower. Also, the food was TERRIBLE!! They only have one restaurant and it’s hard to get reservations there so the only other choice is the buffet and it’s awful. They have a bird problem! They fly in and eat the food off the serving spoons that are sitting there or eat it right out of the serving dish. It is GROSS!! I will never stay at this resort again and I would not recommend it to anyone!!

Very spacious rooms and excellent staff. Beach was very nice and lots of swimming area's.

The restaurant food was very good but to get a dinner reservation you had to get in line at 7 am to make a reservation at 8 am. The buffet food was average at best. The room we had was very outdated and the air conditioner was very loud and I’m sure had some black mold. When we first got in room we called it disgusting but as the week went on it wasn’t a big deal except AC. All plugs are 2 prong and only a couple so bring an extension cord and outlet strip. Had to get up at 4:30 am to put towels on chairs at pool or you weren’t getting a spot. The staff was very friendly. First time in Cozumel and we were worried about water/ice and things like lettuce. No worries ate/drank them all week. All water and ice is from purified water. Don’t use tap water to brush teeeth or drink. Cozumel seemed very safe, no worries like main land. Snorkeling was fun. Bring gear or get some from dive shop then walk down to Westin jump in and let the current take you back to hotel. We had a very good time. Loved Manuel in restaurant. For lunch there is a menu you can order from which food is pretty good

The buffet was delicious. However, there is only one restaurant and it’s impossible to get into. Have to stand in line at 6am (no one wants to do this on vacation) as you couldn’t reserve in advance. They will not take reservations for more than 4 at a time. Also, not enough beach/pool chairs.

The best thing about this resort is that it has a beach and that it's pretty much handicap accessible. The food is okay; nothing spectacular. The pools are nice- the jacuzzi's are not handicap-accessible, and the pools have stairs with railings- no ramps into the pool. I don't get the restaurant that requires reservations- there were always empty tables in there- my friend and I didn't go in there. Resort activities and evening entertainment were nice and fun. The wifi seriously sucks. The AC in our room worked but was very noisy; our bedside lamps didn't work. Having to wake early and reserve a lounger was annoying. Even though there are some negatives, I'd probably come back to this resort mainly because of cost and the beach.

Loved the views, the pools, the beach and the bay. Loved the north location.

Exceptional Staff!! Overall property needs to be updated!

The staff are great and very friendly, great views, rooms need remodeling.

After spending 8 days there this is what I found. The building is dated but generally clean. In our room, the door to the closet was in operable. I had to lift it to move it. The towels are very used and way past their prime. I have garage towels that are in better shape. We got a bath mat every other day. No wash cloths and who ever made the beds just didn't have their hearts in it. The bed were lumpy, too firm and uncomfortable. If you didn't reserve your chairs by 10 pm, you didn't get pool side. Drinks were watered down and the booze was very low end, One day they were out of tonic. My toilet plugged up and it took 3 visits to the front desk and 24 hrs. to get someone to fix it. On the last day, the hot water in the shower wouldn't shut off. There were toilets by the pool without toilet seats. The food was average at best. Some things were tasty but usually bland even for my mid western tastes. But it was hot and there was plenty of it. Most of the deserts had zero flavor. That all being said, most of the staff was some of the hardest working people I've ever seen. Especially the wait staff and the bartenders out by the pool. They speak reasonably good english and always smile and say hi. The hotel was off the beaten path but a 5 minute 5 dollar cab ride to downtown. I believe it deserves about a 3 star rating at best. And no, I probably won't go there again.
