Great hotel, has all the basics for great business travel, USB ports, spacious rooms, and spacious bathroom. Really like the self serve store on the first floor, and the microwave in the rooms. The VU lounge was very cool and great place to have breakfast.
I booked this hotel as I could walk back and forth to a conference at McCormick Place. I didn't want to deal with buses and bad weather and wanted the ability to go back and forth between conference and hotel. Clean, friendly hotel. Loved the rooftop bar--Vu--at the sister hotel.
Perfect location adjacent to the McCormick conference center (with a sky bridge from the 3rd floor), with all the amenities you'd expect, and in immaculate condition, as the hotel has been open for less than a year. Valet parking is available, but you can park just down the street yourself for ~40% less. Key cards are required for elevators to guest floors and breakfast and fitness facilities. The pool is a bit small but very nice nonetheless.
Things I enjoyed: •We were on the 15th floor and what we could see of the city was neat. •The bathroom in our room was immaculate and gorgeous, partly due to the lighting and white paint/tile. •The room was cozy and comfy. •Starbucks on location. •Local Southside Chicago restaurants within walking distance like Harold's Chicken and Windy City Barbecue and Whiskey. We chose this hotel because my dad used points to stay in the Home2Suites located in the same building, and we were in town for a wedding. Thoughts: •The pool seems small for the size of the building. •Parking is a pain unless you use the valet parking, which is to be expected in Chicago, I guess. •The giant hotel and condos look out of place compared to the rest of the city to the west. It feels like gentrification of the Southside, but with the arena there... inevitable? Idk.
I stayed there for a convention at the Convention Center. It was so easy to take the hallway to the convention and not have to go outside in the cold weather. The place was very clean and the staff was very friendly
The room and property were very clean and beyond what I expected. The key card elevators was a bit annoying at times but I understand the importance of this based on the location. There was a shooting on the corner near by one of the nights of my stay but it is Chicago after all. I never felt unsafe on property. I would advise other to not leave the area after 9pm as it becomes very sketchy in the evening hours. Staff tried to enter my room twice with a do not disturb sign on my door and the front desk seemed like they were not too concerned with this violation of my privacy. Overall it’s a good property and I’m sure I just had a rough visit.
If you are in Chicago for a convention at McCormick Place it does not get any easier and more convenient than this. The hotel is nice and updated. What is the problem then? Well, two problems you should be aware...one is a major one: 1- (lesser issue) there is no parking. The valet is over $60/night and parking is not abundant around there. Get an Uber instead of renting a car. 2- Is a major problem if you want to actually sleep at night! The HVAC vent is aimed directly to your bed. The louvers are fixed and cannot be adjusted. So, when the a/c comes on you have to pull the thick comforter on top of you. After a couple of minutes when it goes off you will cook so you kick if all off. And this goes on all night. To make matters worse, the room thermostat has a motion sensor so you can set the temperature to whatever you want, but when you return after being out all day your room will be at 75 degrees. And at night, if you are lucky enough to fall sleep for a few minutes you most likely will not move...therefore, no a/c. Needless to say my wife and I could not sleep all 3 nights. The most uncomfortable and restless hotel experience we've ever had.
Latonia and Ronkia at the front desk reception were super helpful to me today when I discovered that I left my IPhone in my Uber ride. They assisted me in contacting the driver and helping me get my IPhone safely returned. They went above and beyond...to accommodate my unfortunate situation. I am so thankful to them!
Stayed here for a conference. Got a two room accommodation for multiple nights and asked for a roll-away bed. They would/could not accommodate our request, did not let us know ahead of time, even though I booked over a month in-advance, and no one called me ahead of time to let us know, which led to awkward sleeping arrangements. Furthermore, once we arrived, the check-in attendant acted like this was our fault and was very agitated that we were upset. Overall, I was upset and was very uphappy on how the whole thing went down... Beyond that horrible prelude, the room was nice, spacious, clean and the cleaning staff were great.
I came in town for the BTS concert and chose the hotel based on the location and reviews. I had a very nice stay and I was glad I was within walking distance (about 20 minutes or so) to Soldier Field. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and came with a refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig machine which were all appreciated. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience!
