The people are friendly and I wouldn’t stay anywhere else

Amazing staff, it was clean and overall a good area to stay at.

Great historical building, gorgeous lobby, friendly and helpful staff, lots of amenities, central location, near plenty of good restaurants, museums, parks, etc.

Nice property Missing a hot tub for extra relaxation But otherwise was great!!

Older historic hotel with a location convenient for visiting Loop attractions such as the Art Institute. Rooms are a bit dated but reasonable for the price.

Enjoyed the historical component of the hotel

Great location for restaurants and theater. The service was lacking. For example, we asked for sheets to be changed but they never came to do it. No one answered at all on multiple occasions when trying to call down to the front desk. The waiter was rude when we asked (when ordering) if he was able to do separate checks. Didn’t feel like customer service was a priority.

Dingy. Could use an upgrade.

Tiny, expensive room with too much furniture; bed mattress collapsed on the left side: I nearly roled out of bed every night; the AC blew cold and hot air on me when I slept. But the hotel has its grand features.

This is an excellent location and excellent property. The staff was also excellent. A serious complaint is that there is no coffee maker in the room.

You're going to stay here for the ambiance, the historical wow factor, and the 5-minute walk to Millennium Park. The shower floor seems to have water beneath it, which made taking a shower sort of like standing on a waterbed. The pillows were as comfortable as a deflated balloon. The room had no mini fridge but you could borrow one for $40. Made me feel a bit nickel-and-dimed, considering there was a designated space for the fridge within a cabinet. While I don't particularly desire it, there was no daily housekeeping unless requested, nor was there room service. Though it's Chicago and nearby food options abound, plus the hotel has multiple restaurants. It also has a Starbucks but 2 blocks north is a far superior coffee option: Intelligentsia, roasted right there in Chicago. There's also ChiyaChai a block north. It serves chai and Metropolis coffee, another locally roasted coffee brand. Beyond the beans, do try one of the the city's rooftop decks, especially one with a view of the park and Lake Michigan. For shopping go north up Michigan to Streeterville, to BuckTown, WickerPark, or Wrigleyville. There you'll find boutique stores to get something more unique than the ubiquitous big-box retailers that plague the Loop.

This is obviously a beautiful and historic hotel and it has been immaculately preserved and offers comfort and convenience. It's not cheap of course. I stayed 3 nights. Initially, my room (and I had booked a standard kind) was so small that I was literally unable to turn around in the bathroom. It also had one window facing a wall. I went to the desk and they chaged the room immediately without any issue, though they described the new room as an upgrade. This made me wonder how they could sell the assigned room at the rate they received. The dining options in the hotel are very convenient and range from grab and go to the dining in the historic court with vaulted ceilings and history on all sides. Many people, myself included, choose to eat and work there and at night it gets packed with people. The wait-staff was insufficient. Two waiters handling the entire area, often disappearing to fetch food, etc or get drink orders at the bar. There's a need for more help here and the space would benefit further from a manager working 4-till closing. Otherwise, it's a matter of timing when you will get spotted, get your order in and get your check.
