unfortunately--bad wifi reception otherwise fine--everything was good

Room service was lacking- not thoroughly cleaned & restocked linens, coffee ... Historical gorgeous hotel worth the lacking modern stuff

Great location, great staff, comfortable beds and pillows.

Beautiful lobby - amazing to see! Had to upgrade my room to a queen bed - the double bed in the room I booked was extremely small, was later told it was a European double, which is smaller I guess. Staff handled the upgrade with ease.

It was convenient for me because it was close to the CTA and close to the theatre and museum.

I made this reservation on Orbitz for a one night stay in Chicago. My wife and I took the train into the city. I was in a hurry to get to the chain so as I got out of my car, I left my wallet behind and did not discover it until we got downtown. My wife had her purse so we were not concerned about it. When we went to check into the hotel the front desk person asked for ID and credit card. My wife presented her's. The young man looked at me and asked for my ID since I booked the room. I told him about the wallet situation. He looked at me and said "I cannot check you in". I said I realize that is your normal rule but if you look at my wife's ID you will see the same last name and mailing address. He again very bluntly said "I cannot check you in". I asked to see a manager, who came out and simply asked me if I could pull up the reservation on my phone which I did on the Orbitz app. We checked in and all was find. My problem with the young man checking me in was his attitude. At a Hilton I would have expected him to say something like "Our policy requires that the person who made the reservation have ID. Let me talk to my manager to see what we can do."

Great old hotel. Updates are nice. Bathroom in our room could use some updating ( peeling wallpaper). Restaurant breakfast was worth it. Vibrant.

This hotel is stunningly beautiful, close to many shopping venues, Millennium Park, the river AND Lake Michigan. It is also really close to highway access. I only have a few complaints: 1) Parking is not included or validated in the hotel, and the official hotel parking garage is $43 PER NIGHT. ABSURD. 2) Quality of the linens was very, very poor. Not good.

I was so happy to find such a great deal on Orbitz. This hotel is so big & beautiful. Our room, hip & historic, was perfect. And the location was perfect to the theater, the art museum, millennium park and quick uber rides around town. Plus, it was only two blocks from the L stop. We really enjoyed the spa too. My only issues were that you could hear talking right through the wall in your hotel room and you had to work hard to get the waiter’s attentions in the lobby bar.

This was my second stay at Palmer House in six years. In 2011, I remember the bathroom had been renovated with marble floors and counters and was quite large, though this could have been due to me ordering a handicapped-accessible bathroom for an elderly relative. In 2017, the bathroom was noticeably cramped with original tile which was novel but bath fixtures from the 1970s. Hallways were not ventilated. Still, the historic lobby and central location more than made up for these minor deficiencies. Parking was full during the week before Christmas. Luckily, another parking garage was less than a block away. No free breakfast. Starbucks in lower level is only on-site alternative which is a bit cramped but not overly so, which is surprising.

Great location. Good buffet breakfast.service very good

Hotel was great. We were short on time, so we ate at the hotel restaurant which was not so great - slow with poor service. Very limited menu, although the food was good.

Everything was fine except two things: the pool and jacuzzi were packed and the water was very dirty. The pool was closed the next day I wanted to use, so basically, I never got to use the pool and jacuzzi at all while I was there. The second problem was the bath tub water was not draining smoothly. It was very uncomfortable to use the bath tub. Finally, water in the sink was dripping not running.

Stay was pleasant. Hotel is opulent and an historical treat for the family - proximity to great Chicago stuff is the best!

The WiFi was very frustrating. Not easily accessible. You have to beg for a password and then it stops working every time you close the window.

We went to the hotel for Christmas. It was a delightful and festive stay! I would definitely stay there again during the holidays or anytime!

Premiere property. And pricey. Your martini pays for the upkeep of the stunning fresco on the ceiling.

The lobby is grand. The rooms are a comfortable and clean, but need some fresh paint. The elevator service was terrible- would wait 10+ minutes at times.

I try to visit yearly during the latter portion of November. The hotel staff (except afternoon concierge), was pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. They always make the stay enjoyable.
