Embassy Suites Chicago Downtown Magnificent Mile

the location was convenient to shopping, room had a view of lake over Lake Shore Drive, plus view of the city. Happy hour (suitable for family or business): food was very nice and received 4 comp drink tickets per person per day. There are 3 sinks in this roon! Sink in the bedroom, bathroom--great for getting ready at same time as travel companion, and a "butler sink" by the coffee maker. Embassy Suites have a living room in addition to a bedroom, with a door between so one can sleep while night owls work at computer--TV in each room, actually. Large desk with 3 chairs.

We booked this hotel mainly because of its location and I was expecting a decent stay. What I was not prepared for was the LARGE number of people "feeding at the troth" (Free Breakfast) early in the morning. I should have guessed as much as the room had a brochure commenting on High, Medium, and Low breakfast traffic. Also, I asked the front desk if my daughter could have a late check out and was told NO with no uncertain terms (after he checked my reservation???). I am a Hilton Honors member but booked via Orbitz; should this have made any difference.? Finally, you need a coffee/tea/snack bar in the lobby! Who wants to lounge in the lobby or kill hours because you could not check out late without a hot beverage???

Excellent location close to the pier and the park. Many activities were within walking distance.

A bit over powering scent at first check in, they must've tried to air out a smell. Nice big room, breakfast was good, but the same options all days. Pool was tiny and option for late check out was not available.

Overall this hotel is great. Like most people said it’s in a great location. The staff was very helpful and checking in was easy and painless. The swimming pool got real crowded around 5:00 on a Saturday. I’m not the swimmer but my kids enjoyed the pool while they could. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the high floor city view was cool to look out with the kids and see the lights. It was a great place to check out the city with the little ones.

Good location. Loved the Whole Foods across street and restaurants close by. It was walking distance (less than a mile) from museums. service and food was good. Decent workout equipment. The pool is quite narrow so it was too crowded every night for us to go. also, breakfast lines can be quite long if you go during peak hours, 15-20 min so be prepared or go early. It must be a popular place to stay!

Took the train in for a 3 night stay with two grandsons (9 & 12) to show them the iconic sites. Enjoyed the complimentary made to order breakfast with many options as well as the complimentary evening cocktails, beverages and light snack. It was good to come unwind after busy days. Our only complaint was the small pool, overcrowded, which our kids chose not to use. All and all we would be happy to stay again.

We stayed here with our 3 kids (7,5, & 9 months) for a few days over our spring break. The room was such a nice size, especially for what we paid and our family size because we had our own room to ourselves, then the sofa bed for the two older kids, and still room for the pack n play. The hotel was pretty and well-kept. The location was great for getting to Navy Pier and to get to Magnificent Mile shops and restaurants. Whole Foods, Target, Walgreen's, movies and bowling all within about 3 minutes! However, I didn't love that we had to come in via one set of elevators and then go to a whole different set to get up to our rooms. The pool was insanely crowded at all times but that was to be expected during spring break and the kids could not have cared less. As a parent, it was stressful to have them in there with so many others at all times. The pool had waaaaay too much chlorine for us, but again, the kids didn't care. Lastly, the breakfast buffet was not very good food and was also insanely crowded anytime after 7:30. It was definitely not worth the wait. In summary, it was a great hotel if you avoid the pool and the buffet.

Very nice hotel. Close to shopping, restaurants, and entertainment venues. Room and space were exceptional. Breakfast and evening snacks/beverages were a nice amenity.

Great experience with the family and would stay there again in the near future. Staff is also very good and professional

We were impressed when we first walked in the doors. It looked wonderful. My kids told my that "Mom you did good" Then after checking in and I was told about cocktail hour, I was impressed. Our room was more than expected. Was a great stay all the way round. Will definitely be staying there again for our Chicago trips.

I appreciate that the hotel made the accommodation to check in early, however I thought I booked a room with a view. The room itself was nice, complete with a living room and microwave which was great. The free happy hour was a nice touch but I wish that the cocktail bar was closer to the main bar area. The check in and out process was easy, and if j choose to come back to Chicago, I would stay here again...except maybe a room with a view

Nice place to stay. Close to the pier. Staff is great. Stephen at the front desk very helpful and the nice Asian woman working in the breakfast area is so nice and friendly. Every staff member was friendly.

I love this hotel! Great location the breakfast is amazing .

Room was ok. The amenities were great! Breakfast is made to order and the happy hour is awesome.

40 min line to check in. Pool was not clean. The hotel was totally full, so it is likely better when they aren't so busy

Hotel was clean and we enjoyed our stay. The free happy hour and breakfast was really good.

The kitchen staff at night for cocktails hour very rude. There are so many kids it’s terrible for cocktail hour. I went to the management for the rude servers and pretty much was made to feel it was my mother in law and my fault. Not relaxing at all. The pool is to small for this hotel and they don’t have a hot tub. I always loved Embassy Suites but this was a horrible experience. The bed was hard. The room never really became warm enough. Very chilly. The morning lines for breakfast were terrible, by the time you received your food it was cold.

Great hotel location breakfast etc. no complaints!

Perfect in all aspects: location, accommodation, better breakfast I've experienced in US, FREE snacks and drinks, etc, etc, etc..

Hello, thank you for your review. I am glad to see you enjoyed our location, it is great to be able to walk to favorites. Regarding the late checkout, this is subject to availability, which is why we could not accommodate her. We do offer coffee/tea at our breakfast and you can also purchase these items at 511 North or the gift shop. Thank you again for your review, and we hope you come stay again.

Regarding late check out, I am sorry that we were unable to meet your request; However, when the hotel is in high occupancy it is hard to always maintain that. Hello Jill, thank you for taking the time to write your review. I am glad to see that you enjoyed our location and rooms, it is great for families to be comfortable in the spacious two-room suites. Regarding elevators, since we share the building with other businesses, it is for the guests safety that we have separate elevators to get into the actual hotel. Again, thank you for your review and we hope you come stay again for a future stay.
