DoubleTree by Hilton Chicago - Magnificent Mile

3.5 out of 5.0

Recent guest reviews

The hotel is 2 blocks off of Michigan Ave but still close enough to walk to everything or within a short ride. Staff was very nice and helpful although they disappeared late at night when we needed extra blankets. Definitely can't beat the value for a downtown hotel.

All the associates were very friendly and welcoming to guest. They always ask me if i need help and offer me a bottle water while I'm waiting for my pick up. Thank you Double Tree Magnificent Mile!

Chicago hotels can be expensive without always being great. This time I got lucky. A super low winter rate special, bonus hhoners points, room with a view. Definitely worth it.

Great room. Very comfortable space and respectful and cheerful staff. Accommodating to all our needs. The hotel is a 3 minute walk to all of the shopping areas on Michigan. less than a ten minute uber ride to The Bean and Navy Pier. Would recommend not bringing a car if on a budget as parking per night is between $40-60. Overall great stay and highly recommend.

Friendly staff n very helpful. RUBY was Great. Thanks RUBY !!! U ROCK GIRL

Great location. Close to shopping on Michigan Ave.

In addition to being very clean, modern, and close to the Mag Mile, the staff was especially polite and helpful.

I wouldn't recommend the hotel. The room was nice but the staff was less than desirable and the hotel itself seemed very dated. The carpet, the light fixtures all seemed bottom level cheap or from the 70's. The restaraunt was also a disappointment. I had to ask for my check 3 different times and never got a drink refill. I will not be staying here again.

Great location for downtown activities and nearby food options such as Whole Foods. Hotel nothing special and rooms getting dated.

This hotel is perfectly located. Staff is fabulous, friendly, informative! Room was very clean and comfortable! Want to go back now!!!

Disappointing stay. While my initial room was somewhat clean, the bed was uncomfortable and the room was next to elevators and a noisy ice machine. I did not sleep that night and requested a move. The second room was quiet but not very clean and had a musty smell. The carpet had some very dirty spots. I have stayed in some very good hotels in Chicago for less the cost at Double Tree and would not recommend this hotel. I got the feeling that the hotel reserves its "bad" rooms for guests who book through third parties because I was told I had not directly booked through the hotel when I wanted to switch rooms on my first evening. I am not sure what the front desk person meant by this.

Staff was very nice. Lots of dust behind furniture and under bed. Mattress was old and terrible. They don't offer free wi-fi unless you are an Honors member. Signal was spotty at best. For the money there are better options nearby

I stayed here before and had a wonderful experience. Before I booked it again this time, I did read some reviews and I don't understand any negative reviews that people might give??? The hotel is nice and clean. Staff is professional. Doormen are exceptionally friendly. Location is great. Our room was not ready 3 hours before our check in time, but we were able to leave our bags safely at the hotel and go out and enjoy the town. Definitely recommend.

We had a good stay in the double tree Hilton, but it is already an old Hotel, which would need to be renovated. The rating at Orbitz with 4.3 is way to high. The location is great, close to the magnificent mile and the Millennium Park.

You can easily walk to the Magnificent Mile and its further, but Millennium Park was doable too. We even walked from Navy Pier. The lobby and common areas were pretty nice. We never saw anyone at the lobby bar though. The bar in the restaurant was open instead. Hotel staff were friendly and the welcome cookies were good. The view from our room was pretty nice on the 19th floor. I wish I could have used the pool but we were too busy. Cons: The booby trapped minibar fridge and pressure sensitive tray of snacks was unfriendly, unnecessary, and a waste of space. There really isn't any room for anything else in the fridge. It would have been nice to keep our leftover slice of pizza in there. Also, the 3 bed pillows were all feather pillows. I would have liked one to be a normal pillow because feather pillows squish down too hard and offer no support for me.

Beds were terrible! Not the cleanest hotel. Staff were very accommodating and friendly.

This hotel is very good! Great location, rooms are spacious with comfortable beds. Staff was excellent. Bar is a fun place to hang out. Highly recommend this hotel and will plan on staying here again!

Only stayed one night, but it was a great location, and had a friendly and helpful staff. then bed was super comfortable. The only bad thing was the shower head sprayed in tiny super strong streams which were painful! Also, the fan didn't work. Otherwise, great hotel.

We needed to be close to the Loop for a morning meeting. Got a good price the day before. Walked to the meeting and dipped in the rooftop pool befoe checking out at noon.

Overall, the hotel is nice. There is a nice fragrance in the hallways. However, there was an unpleasant odor in our room. We got used to it once we in the room for awhile. The front desk is understaffed and slow. There also is no clear organization about where to stand in line to get help at the front desk. This allows rude people to cut in front of others who have been waiting at the front desk. The pool was nice, but was completely in the shade after about 3:00 pm. The Einstein Bros. in the lobby was very convenient, and we found the staff there to be very helpful..
