Check in was quick and easy. Friendly staff. Stayed on the 9th floor. Room was nice but you can tell its an old hotel. There was no view out the window. The AC/heater didnt work and had to sleep with windows open because it was stuffy. Woke up in the morning and went to "breakfast." Breakfast was chocolate chip cookies, sliced bread and a few pastries. There was no hot food unless you wanted to toast your bread.

Checking- in took me like 10 minutes because there was nobody there, and the staff was kind of rude to me. The hotel looks like abandoned and dirty

Lots of junky guys in our next room, they made lots of noise and smoked weeds from 7 pm to 4 am, our room smelled weeds and we couldn't sleep all night!!!! All towels were old and over used, when you enter the hotel smell naphthalene which is carcinogen!! The only positive point of this hotel is location, nothing else!!!

This was a great hotel for the prize. It is a walking distance from downtown Chicago has to offer.

The bathroom looked to be remodel but the shower would not drain. No microwave, phone in our room didnt work. We did have a late check in and had no issues. Beds were comfortable.

Thanks to all staff of hotel, for working for guests. Marry Christams! ONly, please, work for better WIFI, so, suddenly. sometimes not conection, and wsh better and wider breakfast (even it is continental), need to ask always tea.

The hotel is very outdated, but the history behind it is what made it interesting. We had 2 kids with us and they were so intrigued by the haunted history, they actually did some ghost hunting and enjoyed it. The room itself had a bad odor when we walked in and we had to spray cologne to kill some of the odor, bedding and pillows were comfortable. The continental breakfast was a joke, bread, 1 tray of mini danishes and orange juice.

I understand the Congress is a old hotel but the toilet was leaking water on the floor. The floor panel entering the bathroom was missing and it looked like it was under construction. The room was not updated and was out of style. I do not recommend this hotel. The only thing I really enjoyed was the location of the hotel

We ordered room service, were told it would be under thirty minutes it took just shy of an hour and was cold upon arrival. We called the front desk twice to ask where our food was since we were on a schedule and the first time got hung up on and the second were told that room service would be calling us back right away.. Never got a call and waited ten more minutes for our food to finally arrive. The portions were alright but the food was cold and insanely over priced. 7 dollars for a bagel? Coffee not even complimentary?! Horrible organization, got lost getting to our room twice. The room was dark with white light that felt like a hospital room. Coffee pot leaked all over the table when pouring so we got under half a pot and didn't ask for more because we thought they'd charge based on the crazy room service prices. So disappointed considering I live in the burbs and would stay here a lot for the convenience if the experience wasn't such a wash. I never complain and didn't have the heart to complain to the desk, but this is a deserved review and people should know what to expect.

The rooms have high ceiling, solid brass door knobs, and a classic look. It is close to the art institute, and near the lake. If you are looking for the fresh smell and chic of a modern hotel, you will be disappointed. But, what it lacks in terms of a modern hotel feel, it makes it up with character and history.

Great value for downtown Chicago - The Loop - room was very clean, would go again

The hotel is under renovation, and it is actually really old. For some reason, our door wouldn't lock! The lobby smelled really bad, we really wanted to change the hotel if we could. The staff were friendly.

Didn't feel safe Smells like mold Carpets is dirty Only two working electric outlets Bed was hard Was fearful the property was haunted

Walking distance of theatre, the Bean, Art Institute. Reasonable price. Coffee shops nearby.

Beautiful place, but the "modernization" was not done right. I felt like my walls were painted to be covered up. Towels had mysterious red marks on them and there was no actual fitted sheet on my bed. It was a big plain sheet and underneath it looked like there was blood on the mattress. The lobby and the Gold room are the best part of this place. Otherwise it was creepy, the hallways were narrow and the staff looked like they were hired to pay as little as possible.

You get in room coffee, the room was small but very nice for a single occupant. There is no wifi, I didn't notice that when I booked it. Plenty of charger abilities as they have outlets along the walls every where! that was cool! I love that you can play pokemon and ingress from the room, you just need to use your data to do it. Comfy bed, small bathroom but former presidents stayed there and the stairs were fun to walk down. The elevator was awesome very unique.

This is a very old hotel with a history. It is not all brand new and some rooms show their age more than others. However, it is great value for the cost and has all the essentials. (I love how they have installed multiple baseboard outlets in all the rooms--easier to find a place to recharge than I've seen in many brand new hotels!). The bathrooms are all renovated and clean. Service is friendly in all of the restaurants and bars, which are basic but serviceable. It is located right on the Mile, a short walk from the Art Museum, the Field Museum, the Aquarium, etc. etc. etc. In short, not a five star "experience" location but a great place to stay.

Stayed 2 nights, First night was ok. Bathroom had a bizarre narrow design.Room had Fresh paint but over 12 coats of old paint.2nd night was terrible. they had rented a 8 room suite next to ours to someone having a huge party with EXTREMELY LOUD MUSIC AND HEAVY HEAVY BASE that literaly shook our room. Lasted til past midnight. Went down to front desk at 9 pm...manager on duty was unsympathetic..when I asked to move rooms I was told ..we are full I have no rooms...I then asked for a refund..was told absolutely no...asked to be moved to another hotel and have them pay..NO AGAIN..was told the people in the suite had full rights..would not go up to check sound level..as if that would matter....I will say this manager on duty in the morning, not the same as night manager, did refund about a 1/3 of money for one night..I am sure the max she could. I expressed my thanks and disappointment with our stay....Also on the way out had one of the bellmen that kept up away from a snarky cab driver..Thanks to him

We enjoyed our stay. We were near the trains so kinda loud. Next time I'll bring ear plugs but all in all had a great experience. Will stay again.

room was nice, check-in went very fast. staff was friendly.
