I enjoy my stay shower was leaking keeping my bath floor wet but it still enjoyed my stay.

This hotel had a beautiful lobby but it ended there. The rooms look as if I awoke in 1988. Walls have scuff marks everywhere, one faded portrait on the wall, my door wasn’t painted, just a replaced slab of wood that stuck and needed force when opening, the bathroom was outdated, and there were barely any outlets to plug in anything. The desk and lamp tables were chipped and stained. My room services was less than average and no one took it out of my room even after changing my sheets. It had a creepy and stringent vibe. I would never go back here again!

Problem for hot water in shower even after complaining , house keeping disturb u at 8:00 am in morning even if they see do not disturb sine outside . Room service is not sure what they serve the lady on phone would ask someone else that do they deliver that . If u tell them not to enter the room when u not there they won’t listen . Not professionally run hotel . Elevator would make noise all night on your wall while going up n down .

Everything was excellent! They upgraded us to a lake view room - it was magnificent!

It's got a lot of classic charm. It was built in the 1800's and the lobby is impressive. The rooms are on the small side but to be expected for the year built. The room is stocked with things you might need. No refrigerator or microwave. The staff is a ok, not warm but the cleaning staff are nice. I didn't like getting a housekeeping knock before 9am each day, however. The location is great, right across from Grant Park and down the street from museums and other parks. It's really close to the theatre areas. UBER is great in Chicago for things farther away. It's a few blocks off the Blue Line, too. (O'Hare accessible) Spring is great in Chicago...flowers everywhere and cool but perfect temperatures. Perfect for walking around. Overall, nice place with old charm.

Great Hotel built for the 1893 Exposition in Chicago. Centrally located on the division street and in the loop with access to the downtown and transportation. Book a tour and enjoy the City.

The Congress is centrally located and is a good buy for the money. Rates are reasonable, and the hotel has a great history. Although the facility itself would benefit from restoration, my room was clean and seemed to have been recently redone. The lobby -- restored at one point -- is impressive. I found the staff to be friendly, capable and responsive.

Hotel lobby is fantastic. Room size with 2 double beds are very nice. Nice clean the room. Heater did not work real well cold in the room. Toilet stuck a few times. Location nice. I am not sure who chose the carpet color or the lighting in the hallways terrible choice. İt feels like you are walking into a dungeon. At least room was bright. Overall for the price and location it is an excellent choice.

Overall condition was mediocre, hot water was sometimes intermittent nd the toilet had some problem that made it refill even few minutes. Staff was fine and location was very good.

Roir room was repainted and clean. Housekeeping did a good job. The lobby had a strange aroma about it when we walked in but it disappeared after getting off the first floor. Nice for a grand old lady.

This is the best location in Chicago for running race events, I have stayed here several times for the Shamrock Shuffle and the Chicago Marathon. Just step out the front door and you are there! It is definitely an older hotel but has a lot of classic features, the lounge is very cool place to hang out, the only issue is the rooms are older but well worth the value! I will be back!

The hotel was conveniently located and the lobby and lounge were comparable to the advertised photos. However, the room we were put into was in a building separate from the main hotel. It was old and in disrepair, it stunk, the elevators and hallways were dark and actually scary, the stairways were narrow, dimly lit and the stairs themselves were wobbly and unsafe. My sister stayed in the main hotel and her room was much nicer. I'm not sure why it was cceptble to put us in to the nasty area when we made reservations at the same time and paid the same amount.

The beds were hard as a rock-no coffee in the room which was highly disappointing. The hallways had a terrible smell. Overall we will pay a little more next time to stay some place more updated. The only good thing is the location.

Room temperature cannot be adjusted, it was extremely hot and dry, we had a very hard time sleeping

Great location, clean and comfortable rooms. Great atmosphere

Good experience, but the halls look terrible too old

I LOVED the 12' ceilings in my room, the tall windows and the views of the lake and some of Chicago's best landmarks! The door knobs were also SO cool and I appreciated that they were kept through the years. The bathroom was nicely renovated with black granite. I couldn't find a thermostat to lower the room temp so it was a little too warm for sleeping but welcoming to arriive in a cozy-warm room after being in the frigid Chicago temps outside. The staff was quite helpful and all had cheery attitudes. This classic hotel has so much character although it seemed overlooked in some ways. For example, the elegant gathering area/lobby is so incredibly beautiful but flat screen TVs were tuned to news and sports and playing loudly. I would definitely stay here again as I LOVE the beauty and character of this classic hotel.

The pictures that we viewed when booking our stay through orbits were nothing like what the hotel looked like when we arrived. Upon walking in the hotel you are greeted with a strong gas type chemical smell. The first room that they put us in had a broken heater that was stuck on hi. The second room had a heater that sounded like a lawn mower ALL THE TIME. All the doors either stuck or didn’t close. The mattress was on 2x4s. The furniture didn’t fit in the room so it was awkwardly placed. The electrical popped breakers every 30 seconds in the bathroom. The water faucet spun in circles and had to be rigged a certain way just to make it turn off, it did not work properly. The outlets were limited if you could find them. Paint was chipped and pealing. Fixtures were broken. The bed was hard as a rock and the pillows were so thick that they made your neck sore. I was scared to leave any clothes out on the floor for fear they would have roaches on them in the morning. It was awful and a was irritated that i wastes my money staying there.

The lobby is very pretty. The actual hotel is very old. The carpet, the walls, doors and bathrooms are VERY dated and need to be updated. The furniture on the other hand is very modern. It's miss matched. It's a great deal for the location though.

We have stayed here many times, our hotel of choice when in the loop, usually a good experience and good value. This visit was disappointing. The desk staff was disinterested and bored. Just wanted to get through the day. Requested a high floor room, near a second reservation, with a view if possible. We were told the second room was not available on our floor, but could be one floor below us. We were placed on the 5th floor in a tiny room, badly in need of renovation. The second room was later placed in the other tower on the 8th floor. When asked if it could be closer, the answer was "no!" No interest in customer service whatsoever! When we had to extend the reservation by a day, even though we did have a room reserved, we were forced to change rooms! We will reconsider next time we are in Chicago
