One of the best. Character and location Historical
I have never left a bad review and I and very excepting of minor flaws. So this review is completely truthful. Check in was supposed to be at 3 o'clock, and we were not able to check until almost 5 o'clock. I had booked a king room, and was given a room with two double beds's. When I called to have it corrected, the staff acted like it was my error, even though I had confirmation on my phone. We were told we would get a call from the manager, but we did not. We also let another staff member know of our situation, and he assured us he would follow up. Still no call from the manager. Having said that, the hotel is absolutely beautiful. Extremely clean and comfortable. I would probably give the hotel another try as it is such a nice place, but I would be well prepared to make sure I was getting what I was promised.
We arrived at the hotel shortly after check-in, at 3:40. We were told our room wouldn't be ready for 30 minutes & given no explanation why. Front desk told us they would check back with us then. They never did. We ended up waiting almost an hour. I asked what was going on & was told it would be soon. I explained that we had two children & it was an inconvenience. I was referred to the manager who was very rude! Very unfriendly. Would have been nice to hear "sorry for the inconvenience" They finally got us into a room. I requested high floor, quiet room (weeks before, when I booked the room) We got neither. We ended up getting a room right by the elevator & it was loud! We have stayed here several times in the past & had a nice experience. Not this time! Staff was unfriendly. No smiles, they were cold. Certainly didn't seem to like their jobs. Worst customer service ever. Very disappointed
Room was very clean . It was nice and quiet , I slept so well . I will be back .
All excellent Exception: My bill was considered paid without any accounting with a previously signed credit card. The bill had unexplained additions. When I requested a receipt, I was furnished one without documentation. Phone calls to their Accounting office have gone unanswered. I find this potentially dishonest and certainly unacceptable
Great location and tons of interesting history. We loved the trolly tour and the boat ride. No need for a car, walking is much easier way to get around.
Cool hotel with lots of charm. Renovated nicely and well located for touring the best parts of Boston.
Had higher expectations for our stay at the Liberty. Started off well - incredibly nice doorman and a great BU intern at check in. But other service was disappointing. Room service had not been there when we returned to our room at 2:30 the following day. And both days of our stay there were piles of sheets left in the hallway, as were numerous discarded room service trays. Gym was inadequate. For the price, we expected more.
We had a lovely delicious lunch at Scampo. After a wonderfu bubble bath and ñoght's sleep.
I have stayed at the Liberty in the past attracted to the location and open and lively public spaces. The guest rooms are ok while the bathrooms are a disappointment. The shower door didn't close and the water pressure was a joke. With so many options in Boston likely not coming back.
We booked the hotel because my husband was having surgery at MGH and we were traveling a couple of hours pre and post operatively. Since the hospital discharges patients so quickly we thought it best to stay in town in case problems developed. The staff is cordial and very welcoming. The restaurants are delicious but quite expensive. The location can't be beat.
I love the liberty for drinks or fun. Rooms are pricy but you can ask for special discounts!
Fantastic location near the Charles River and park, as well as in the Beacon Hill district. A wonderously renovated hotel from a historical landmark 19th century jail, the aesthetic appeal is undeniable and it's a luxury hotel in every regard. Our only glitch occurred due to a weak battery in the room lock which prevented us from entering on two occasions without staff assistance.
Room was too expensive especially with parking. Tub stopper broken. Great location and restaurants.
Location, staff and Scampo all excellent. Tub stopper didn't work; not a big deal unless you want to relax at the end of the day.
A former jail converted to a hotel, the Liberty Hotel has some cool spaces resulting from its historic past. But the bathrooms, amenities, and room decor are all very modern, crisp and clean. Extremely helpful and cordial front desk staff is one of the hotel's hallmarks.
The hotel is amazing. It is definitely on the costly side, but if you are looking for an all-around great place to relax with a significant other then it's well worth the money. I would not recommend the Liberty if you're there as a group of men, however, as the hotel definitely caters to the women a bit more and the bar and lounge scene are not what the typical Boston guy would want (girls are not stumbling drunk everywhere and it's super classy). For a couples retreat you CANT beat it.
My husband and I stayed at the Liberty because it was centrally located. A few steps from Mass General Hospital and one block from Mass Eye where they have the best doctors. In addition to the above, Charles Street is a stone's throw away. It's like going back in time "gas lamp lights," lovely old brick homes, great shops and wonderful restaurants. We loved the hotel and all the special attention that we were given. Would we do it again ... you betya!
GREAT!!! Everything i exspected and more...+ Centrally located..
This hotel has degraded in the past few years. From poor customer service, to scratchy towels, cheap robes & bed linens- the stay has been an absolute disaster. The staff made it worse by making me feel discriminated against as an orbtz customer. Very upset about the entire experience.
