We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 night stay at the Hotel Commonwealth. First, The location on Kenmore Sq is right above the entrance to the Green Line with easy access all over Boston. For walkers, Boston Common is only about 1.5 miles away. And Fenway Park is right around the corner for baseball fans. Second, the hotel is spotless. We had a very spacious Commonwealth Suite with a King bed and sitting room. It was terrific for our extended stay. The bed was supremely comfortable and the hotel was very quiet at night. We slept very well! Third, the staff is quite accommodating, from lending us umbrellas to shining shoes, every wish was granted with a smile. The Eastern Standard restaurant had some of the best smoked trout we'd ever had and was fairly reasonably priced. Small areas for improvement: the fitness room was fairly small and didn't have a lot of equipment. A couple of bikes, a pair of treadmills, a rowing machine, a set of weights and exercise balls. It was okay for a few people, but more than 4 would have been crowded. The hotel offered a token for a cup of coffee and muffin at Eastern Standard for breakfast, but if you didn't get downstairs early the muffins were already taken. All in all, it was a great place to stay

Cool art. Don’t know why there is a character minimum for a review, that seems weird.

I liked the size of the room, but not cozy planning of the furniture, not coffee machine in the room. You have to go every morning from 7:30 to 9:00 AM to get a coffee and pastries for separate +$25 daily. Also, when you are back from outside, the smell in the room was felling like some one is smoking.

Checking in they were so nice and he introduced us to all the staff there AND who was going to be working at night! Every time we walked by he would acknowledge us and was really nice! Everyone was amazing!!

Great view of Fenwick Park. Clean modern rooms Staff was very friendly

Great location … Enjoyed the king size bed and the nice room

My rating of this hotel may surprise you when I tell you that when we arrived we were told that the hotel had over sold the dates and that we would have to spend the first two nights at a different hotel. We were not happy!!!! However, the guest services manager Corey went above and beyond to make up for the inconvenience. When we returned to the hotel, he provides us with the best of care and honestly I feel like he made up for the whole thing. Our stay was great and I would definitely stay here again. Corey and his staff were awesome. I could not blame them for the error. I wish I could have vented my frustration with those who thought it was okay to oversell the hotel.

Hotel Commonwealth has joined the other underhanded organizations that charge unadvertised but mandatory "resort fees" or "destination charges" that include nothing that isn't already advertised as included such as in-room wifi or complimentary breakfasts. Enjoy those surprise extra charges at checkout time!

Ten minute walk to Fenway or ten minute ride to Boston Commons and other historical sites.

location was very good. Some cleanliness issues (long black hairs on one of my bath towels). Daily resort/amenities fees added on top of room/tax price, and not sure this was of any great value.

Hotel is in a great location, staff was awesome! They were very helpful providing suggestions on restaurants and events around town.
