No king beds, only double bed and twin bed at this hotel. Twin bed request not available at time of check in, nor was the riverview balcony. Front desk told me pool would close for 19 days, which did close during my stay. Hotel makes you wear brackets now unlike other local and authentic hotels. I do not like bracelets. Hotel should provide and guarantee choice of bed selection at time of booking. Bracelets should not be required. Beds are very hard. They should update travel sites regarding pool closures, which is s major amenity and reduce rates during this period. Maids are amazing.

Got this hotel as a special when booking flight, asked to upgrade to a larger room and they wanted to charge an extra $80 dollars. Way more than I had paid for the room and not worth it at all. Thankfully it was just for 1 night. Hotel is clean, but very old and dated.

The regular check in person (male) during the day is rude and unfriendly. I wasn't able to obtain more than 1 key from the front desk. Cash Deposit of 200 pesos was taken at the front desk for the key (obtain a receipt). Rooms only have one pillow per bed.

Check in staff was rude and room wasn't ready until 1 hour after posted check in time. Beds were very hard and shower water was cold for some of the stay. Room not provided as described, no balcony and no river view. They only provide double beds or twin beds if requested, do not assume you will get a King bed. No remote for A/C provided. 1.5 star hotel - 2 star hotel at best. Wifi doesn't work in your room most of the time, it's more like a lobby wifi.

No river view w/balcony as described, cold water in shower, hard beds, room wifi doesn't work, and room not ready at check in (waited 40 minutes), and unfriendly male at check in. King rooms never provided. 1.5 star to 2 star at best.

This hotel reminded me of going to visit my grandmother or a very good friend in Mexico. The staff is very friendly and all work very hard to please all of the guest at the hotel. The rooms are all equipped with all of the basics that one needs, the only thing that I wished the room had was a mini-fridge to keep drinks and some food cool. I would recommend this hotel to people that are on a budget and or people that would like to experience more of the local life and customs.

Hotel Encino is a well located budget hotel near the Malecon and the beach. No frills, but very clean with a very nice/helpful staff. I asked for a room with a balcony facing the River Cuale on an upper floor and that is exactly what I received. Plenty of hot water, drinking water in containers in the hall with a pitcher/glasses in the room, no in room safe, but a facility at the front desk. Wi-fi can be sketchy, but was very good in my room. Great rooftop pool, sun deck and restaurant which provide good views of town, the mountains, and the bay. Food at the restaurant was inexpensive and very good. The hotel can be noisy at times because of the open couryard around which it is built. All noise can be heard on every floor....and MANY people slam the wooden room doors instead of shutting them quietly. I have stayed at Encino several times and will stay there again. It is a great bargain.

Hotel Encino is an older, basic, but well located hotel. It is on the edge of Centro just a couple of blocks from the beach and Southside. It is in an active area for restaurants, shopping, banks, massages, etc. The room I had was large, with an open closet/shelving area, a small television, a balcony with a great view of the River Cuale, and on the back side of the hotel, so quieter. A/C worked fine, wi fi was spotty, but usable with persistence, maid service was excellent and maintenance was quick to respond when my key got stuck in my door lock. The pool deck has a terrific view of the bay/town and the elevator, though small, worked fine. On weekends, the hotel can be a bit loud because it is built around a courtyard that is open on each floor, so noise carries and is heard on every floor. Beach towels are provided, morning coffee is in the lobby and there is a book swap area, also.

Please understand that you get what you pay for. Lower your standards just a bit an you'll be alright! Very convenient location downtown square and The Malecon. Staff is awesome, very helpful. AGAIN you get what you pay for!!!

I had visited Encino twice in the last year to look at rooms and loved the look of the hotel and the friendliness of the front desk/housekeeping, etc. in allowing me to look around. I finally stayed there and would do so again. I had emailed and asked for an upper floor, balcony with a river view and as quiet as possible and that is exactly what I had. (be sure to use insect spray). Check in was friendly and easy. I was issued a beach towel and a key, given the internet code and was ready to go. Contrary to previous reviews, I found all staff to be friendly, helpful and found no one sleeping in the lobby. Of course, the beds are hard, but it IS a budget hotel in Mexico and hard beds are common. I had plenty of towels, but did take my own face cloth. The water pressure was good, drinking water is provided on each floor and there are plastic chairs in the room that can be used on the balcony. The pool and bar/restaurant on the 4th floor provide a great view and the hotel's location is great. I was pleased.

too bad there was no front desk advice regarding the fourth floor swimming pool....as well as what appears to be a lovely (totally empty) bar and restaurant

I stayed here for a week just after Thanksgiving. I arrived on Saturday, fairly early so the only room available was on the lowest floor-#108- facing the west & flea market. This made for alot of street noise early in the mornings and late at night. The hot water did not work for a day and half until i asked them to fix it. I asked them to move me to a river view room and they did for the last few days-room #323- which was 99% better except for a moldy smell in the newly renovated bathroom. This was a top floor corner room with wrap around balcony which you could see the ocean from the balcony! It is a cool looking hotel which maybe could use some maintenance, but clean. It was busy with Mexican vistors on the weekend but pretty quite during the weekdays. I loved the location near the River Cafe/Cafe Roma/flea markets. The TV had many chanels and the picture was good, but only 5 or so english chanels. The beds were relatively comfortable. The skydeck pool and sun deck were neat and provided great views. Maid forgot to clean my room one day and I had to ask her to the next day. It was a good deal for the price i paid. Front desk folks were great.

NOT GOOD,HORRIBLE,DONT DOIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SCAREY PLACE,DIRTY,VERY OLD

THIS IS A NICE, OLDER, NO FRILLS HOTEL LOCATED CLOSE TO EVERYTHING IN THE OLDER PART OF PUERTO VALLARTA. I SHALL RETURN.
