Everything was perfect. The room was cleaned, the housekeepers were amazing by stocking our fridge each day. We found plenty of things to eat. The pool was not crowded and the service was amazing. It gets four stars because half of our party got sick after eating in the fish house have did not even though we had the same thing. I would definitely recommend going back.

The room was ground floor, which is till 6' off the ground; love that. The convenience of this for access to the pool & restaurants was perfect. The room was clean but we did have to remind the cleaning staff to replenish certain items a couple times, but they were very good and yes, we tipped them every day. The little slippers were perfect! The restaurants, all of them, were excellent. The service and staff were very friendly !!

It’s like lipstick on a pig. There are two sides in the resort. On one side the rooms are very dated. On the renovated side, all they’ve done is put a coat of paint on everything including the furniture on their renovated side. They also changed a few wall outlets to allow for more usb jacks on the renovated side of the resort. No prep work was done prior to painting. The linens are worn out and the pillows stink. The air conditioners are basically fans that stay on high. The rooms never actually reach the desired temperature. We were moved to three different rooms. The first two smelled like damp basements. The third room couldn’t draw moisture out of the room and leaked it back onto our luggage. They need to clean the air conditioners. Smart TV’s in the rooms but no high speed internet for streaming. TV’s still on cable even though there is wifi but the wifi was too slow. Food was mediocre and selection was very limited. Don’t get me wrong, the food was fresh but basic. The cooking staff, servers and housemaids were great but you can see they have to work with limited resources from Melia.

The bathtub had mildew, the staff forgot to restock the towels one day, didn't restock the coffee or drinks the next day, and avoided sweeping as the floor was still sandy every time we came back. The fridge also started to leak even though we made sure it was closed properly and during one of the nights, the toilet started making an awful groaning noise and then the water was turned off to it so I had to fill up the tank with a cup from the sink in order to flush, it was back on by morning. Every time I ate at the buffet, I felt queasy to the point where I had to go to sleep, we spent a lot of time eating outside the resort so paying for all inclusive at this resort was a waste of money. The view was beautiful from our room, the grounds were kept very nice and clean.

What we liked: The Pool is great for kids and families with two big shallow ends. The staff running pool and archery activities were wonderful. Housecleaning were terrific and would come around our kids nap schedule. The gym was a good size with working equipment. What could be better: Upon arrival staff refused to give one of our family members the same wrist band as us. despite email proof we all booked with expedia, It took multiple frustrating conversations and before staff services finally agreed. Also, we had called far in advance to request our family members rooms be close together and were told a note would be put with our booking. When we arrived staff had no record of our request and the grandparents room was on the other side of the resort. After a few days, they were able to move them to a closer room. Our final critique, for a family with a baby and toddler, it would have been nice if dinner buffet and restaurants opened earlier than 6pm. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Melia, but a few small things could have made it even better.

Service staff including restaurant waiters /waitresses,drink servers on the pool deck, and bartenders were excellent. Rooms were spotless. Front desk, staff were helpful in getting us into the resort quickly and providing a courtesy suite for us to shower leaving later in the day after checkout. The food was in line with what we paid for the resort. It was not five star, but that’s not the price we paid and it was very good Management took the time to check in with us to make sure everything was to our liking and that was appreciated.

Wonderful beds in the rooms Nancy was especially good to take care of us and the food area was nice with David and Gabriel. Antonio helped provide us with a great room.

Staff were awesome, Fish House restaurant was especially delicious… the kids loved the shows, and the iguanas and turtles on site.
