We had a nice stay. Beautiful views. It took a few days to figure out how to get the delicious food from the outdoor restaurant from 11 am to 5 pm. Buffet was good for breakfast but for the rest of the meals it was ok. Entertainment was lacking. We had issues with the room, shower knob falling off, curtains falling down, electricity turning off. Speaking Spanish we found certainly makes a difference in better service and getting information on the better food, drinks, etc.. around the resort.

Very dated property, rooms had mildewy smell and humidity that wouldn’t clear. Elevators broke twice in four days—once for the entire day. Property extremely LOUD- daytime loud obnoxious music by the pool and an activities director on a mic. Then at night parties and more loud music— impossible to take a relaxing nap, or sleep with room open to sound of waves. Felt like a crappy spring break in Daytone Beach 1989. The Food was mediocre on its best day (except breakfast, which was good), and restaurants had a ridiculous dress code that was completely miscommunicated—not to mention absurd for this type of property. Men in very nice Tommy Bahama-style bermuda shorts were not permitted to enter (required pants). Unfortunately this was incorrect on the materials we were given in advance—so the men in our group had not packed pants. There are no food alternatives in the proximate area, so you are stuck getting dressed up to dine on mediocre-bad food. Very strange combo of old facilities serving mediocre food but that you had to be dressed up for— so you could dine to the sound of whatever techno the pool was blaring. Never again.

Great vacation!!

I liked the area of the resort, very excluded and very nice scenery and not crowded. Just that I stayed the room that had the weird smell I think because of that tub in the bedroom gave that smell and the air conditioner is super loud. The food is good. The hotel didn’t have a lots of activities at night. Overall the staff are very good and friendly. They always go ask if you need anything when I sit down and eat. I liked the Michael Jackson show. They performed really good.

We were there for a family wedding. The wedding was beautiful, and very well organized. The location was great, next to the beautiful coves. The customer service is not the greatest in the lobby, they can be rude. The food was not good either, the ceviche was frozen and overall the family had issues on several occasions. On the first day we arrived, the waiter at the snack bar looked like he was drunk and very disrespectful. We will not stay at this Barcelo again. I don't recommend it.

Hotel is very dirty, staff has difficulties with understanding basic English. Food is horrible. Open buffet offered food that was literally non-edible.

The beach... simply awesome. Clean, not huge but not crowded ever. There is a resort side and then a little beach village for day tours. Lots of vendors down there and some cheap Mexican food. Beach service was always available and drinks don't stop until you want them to. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to test the food at the Kyoto restaurant because a reservation wasn't required for this restaurant, but in fact, we unexpectedly were asked if we have a reservation at the entrance.

We loved the pools and our room(one of the few places with A/C to cool off) and the Spa was amazing! Unfortunately the food was definitely not up to the standard we expected, the food was cold, and the same thing served everyday at the buffet. There was very little to do at the resort, besides laying at the pool, which meant having to pay for excursions, or going into Puerto Vallarta. We also found that this resort seemed to be more for locals, or people from Mexico, as much of the staff struggled with English. The wifi didn’t work well, and we required it to check in with our work, so we struggled with connecting and staying connected when using the Wifi. Overall we enjoyed our time together on vacation, but will not be going back to this resort.
