BEWARE the pics of the hotel on the website - they are highly photoshopped and filtered! Stayed here 9 days - we had a "new room" probably one the nicest there but as with everything here - it was 40% complete at best. No shelves in bathroom, the toilet seat was recycled from who knows where and disgusting. Bathroom mirror never cleaned, shower curtain mold, shower head was so lime crusted and disgusting you could not look at it. No bath mats in bathroom. TV had no cable hookup or remote. Kitchen wetbar had no plumbing. The floors were NEVER cleaned or even wiped with a broom by the staff. You had to wipe the sand off your feet before crawling into bed. Showers were never cleaned. All the building materials have been recycled from other places - railings, balcony glass panels, etc. Nothing fits together. Bottom line: if you are over 30, stay in the Al-a-Mar (sp?) hotel one away from this one. YES, it is more money but you will exponentially enjoy your stay much better.

Check-in day: we arrived to the hotel and immediately noticed the hotel was a more run-down than some of the other hotels nearby. Cracks on the walls, weird random furniture pieces not really cohesive to any style, and elevator that functioned when it wanted it to. The receptionist took an hour to check us in because he gave our room away and was trying to put my group and I in a standard room with 1 bed and no beach views; there were 4 of us and I had paid extra for a room with beach view-two beds. While this was happening another guest was at the desk complaining there was no hot water in his room, and another guest complaining and asking why there was a staff member at his door telling them to get out of their room when they had reserved the room for several more days. So my first impression was not good. They ended up placing us in a penthouse because that was pretty much all that was left. The penthouse was on the 7th floor, we had an amazing view so we were actually pretty happy and the staff was very apologetic about the check in process. Going back to the fit and finish of the hotel, it was a little disappointing. In our room the window handle was broken, there were gaps between the door and door frames. There was no hot water and on our second day there was no water at all. Overall my experience was okay: gay friendly, cheap stay, good location. Essentially, you get what you pay for.

Didn’t know it was all LGBT. Very uncomfortable. Staff very pleasant and helpful.

Charged me for the first night even though the room was prepaid with orbitz. Took 3 days for the refund. Bad internet. Construction. Room lights and AC didn’t always work.

The rooms need to be updated a lot of old broke equipment 3 days we had no towel service in the room we clean the floors ourselves to remove a lot of the sand

Overcharge. Terrible everything. The worst. The hotel is in construction.

We had the worst experience, ever! My partner and I got bitten by bed bugs on our ankles and arms. We called in to work today. Three pairs of shoes got ruined since we immediatly went directly to laundry room and washed everything in hot water and dried everything in high heat. I took pictures of our bites. Still need to wash hardcover carry-on. It was the very LAST time we ever stay there. The least Blue Chairs can do is refund me the money

A GREAT LOCATION AND STAFF. Elevators in need of major mechanical and cosmetic upgrades. Showroom area on 6th floor an eyesore. Dirty, dark and desolate. Large rooms very clean, but small wall mounted TV's too small for rooms.

El personal es muy amable. Pero los cuartos están muy mal. Huele feo. No lavan las sobrefundas ni cambian la ropa de cama. La tv y internet nunca funciona. Liqueo de agua por todos lados.. el elevador está sucio y no funciona. Es un lugar bien ubicado. Pero el mantenimiento está fatal.

I was told by a third party after I'd made a reservation that this hotel was dominantly gay guests. It didn't deter me from wanting to stay there because it looked like a great place on the internet. Upon arrival I was initially given a room which in no way reflected what I saw on their website. The view was obstructed by a gutted cement building, and the room was sub par. I asked the desk clerk if there wasn't another room I could be moved to. He initially said there wasn't because it was Easter Sunday when I checked in and the place (and every other place in Vallarta) was full. I showed him my paperwork and said that my room was nothing like their website reflected. He stepped away for a moment, then came back and said he could give me the Penthouse, but that was the only other room. I asked how much that would increase the cost, and he said he would do it for the same I'd already paid. Done deal. It was a great space. Perfect view, everything ideal. The "kitchen" didn't have a sink or a stove (which I thought was strange) but it was such a tiny inconvenience it didn't matter. They made good. The people were excellent! Oh, and by the way, the fact that it was a spot where gay people stayed didn't even matter. May have improved the atmosphere with friendly fun guests.

El check in "se supone" es a las 3pm y me dieron habitación hasta la media noche. No se disculparon, ni nada.

terrible service!! no towels , hk service horrible!

Our stay here was for the 3rd consecutive year. We keep coming back mainly for the convenience out the front door is the beach where all other GLBT folk hang out. Staff has always been very accommodating to us. If there are issues, and there have been in past years, they're always quick to solve them or make amends to make things better.

The room was disgusting. We left after a few hours. We just could not do it. The shower was horrible. The windows did not close. WE LEFT! Of course no refund but it was so bad.

I booked this resort not realizing that it was gay friendly and I am extremely happy with this resort. As a straight woman I still had a fantastic time. If you are looking for luxury and frills this is not your place. BUT it is a 40 year old resort with lots of character. The rooms are clean and perfect for what I needed (which was just to sleep). The staff was friendly and responsive. I was always greeted by my name. My room was ocean front and steps from the sand. I actually felt less like a tourist and more like I had moved there for a few days. I met amazing and fun people, had access to cheap but delicious restaurants and a variety of entertainment. The free continental breakfast was perfect. The drinks were the BEST! I had a blast and plan to book here next time I visit PV.

You can tell they have not spend a penny on the maintenance of the room. Phone don't work, TV does not work, no pressure on the shower, you can tell that it has not been painted in a while, lamps don't work, broken lights, this place is a dump. At night if you have any lights, you can see through, the frames and doors are old and crumbling.

Omg it was a DUMP from A to Z! It started at check when they ask you do you wanna up grade and the first room nothing worked..lights..tv..air.shower....nothing worked..at front desk I can put you in a nicer room for 50us...so we said ok next room dirty and loud our room was in between dance floors..that were only busy at happy hour but no customer but music played til midnight..DUMP

Grossest hotel I have ever stayed in. Took 2 days to get them to fix my AC only after I paid to do so. No safes in rooms and someone else's room was robbed there. Blood stains on my bed. It's essentially a bathhouse. Disgusting!!!

I've been here several times over the last few years or so. Every year it keeps getting better and better with all the renovations that I've seen happen. Many new completely remodeled rooms with new furniture, kitchenettes among many other things. There are still a few quirks about the place. The elevators are slow. The lighting in the hallways need a little help. It's considered to be the gay place to be, however i find none of the staff to be homosexal at all. But they are extreme gay-friendly! Overall: It's close to the beach where i want to be. The drinks at their bar are reasonable. The shows at the drag lounge are fun and very entertaining. The restaurant gets better every year. It's Mexico, if you want class it'll get there, the diamond still needs a little polishing! J patrick michaelson on Facebook.
