The hotel look was very nice. The staff were nice also. We had a few bad experiences, first with the construction work. We spent our day at the beach and upon our return to our room we opened our door to a very strong smell of gasoline. We thought it was the stove but turned out it was the air conditioning vents that were bringing in the construction workers gas powered machinery! It smelled very bad and we had to open all windows, front door and sliding door to air it out. We were told that they cant do anything about it since the staff needed to continue their construction work. We were unable to use the A/C and it was a very hot day. In addition, the food was not so great, the elevator broke during our stay and we had to walk up 3 flights of stairs to get to lobby. Lastly, the overall crowd is older seniors. It was more like a senior center!

Staff went out of their way; beds most comfortable in Mexico; food very good; rooms are older and a bit run down here and there but clean; pool is small but refreshing; not a lot of kids and did not cater to many locals as other resorts do. Beach is very small and rocky....bring your water shoes! Overall.....excellent and relaxing!

I want to start by saying this review has nothing to do with the staff of the hotel. All the staff from reception, maids, waiters, pool bar, restaurant and more were all lovely people. My mother had stayed here once before as well as many of her friends so I didn't question the reservation. The pictures make it look breathe taking. It has a nice private beach, 2 pools, gym, outdoor bar and restaurants. They offered lots of activities and the food and drinks were fair. You were outside of town and a short 90-100 peso taxi ride to town each way. Unfortunately, it is very run down. I am sure it was wonderful in its hay day but it needs major renovations. We were only in the building that housed the one bedroom suites. The one bedroom was very very dark and musty. There was obvious mold on the ceiling in the bathroom. The sheets, pillows etc just did not smell right. I felt like the couches were not very clean either. I know the maids did their very best to make sure the room was clean but I felt like there were parts that were not. You could see cracks in the other balcony's especially from the beach and the pool once you were up close was falling apart. There are obviously several people who own timeshares here and they have a club that they try to get you to attend a breakfast when you first arrive. All the people that have time shares love it. It is an older crowd.

The hotel needs up dating. Closet areas have a horrible smell and rooms are pretty worn. Limited pool seating considering the beach is only partially open.

Great value...book lower floor...elevator is slowwwww.

We stayed here to extend our vacation a bit at the start. This is quite far from the downtown PR area, but is a nice resort. It seems like it was an older condo building which they converted into a hotel. The staff were EXTREMELY friendly and polite. The rooms were just ok with the exception of the view. It was GEORGEOUS! You look out onto the ocean and a beautiful swimming area is at your feet. Just wonderful.

This is one of my very Favorite places to stay in PV. Love the staff - they are like family. The food is great, the team is great and the atmosphere is great. I can not wait to go back this year.

My family and I love this hotel, cos is so family oriented, we have 3 years coming back.

very nice hotel. rooms are clean and have great views. it is about 10 minutes south of pvr boardwalk but the bus comes by every 45mins and it is only 8 pecos to ride. (.50c)... overall for the money this is a nice place with its own private beach. kids can swim/snorkel and see lots of cool fish.

Our breakfast was good and not to pricy the lunch was good as well but a little pricy . It's seems to me that the staff would team up and discuss who was tipping and that determine the outcome of your service . The ATM fees are high . The beach was real nice but then again the beach goes a long ways.i wouldn't recommend this place .

Mi Esposo y yo had an amazing time at Costa Sur . The rooms were comfortable with a kitchen, a comfortable bed, and a beautiful view of the ocean. The hotel has a private beach, which is very quiet and convienent. The food was great, and the hotel staff were all nice and accommodating, even the laundry service was fast and reliable. Rooms were also cleaned very well. The only improvements I would suggest would be to improve the gym, more machines, weights, and mats needed. Overall great place to stay!

Hotel is located south of Puerto Vallarta. It is on a gorgeous beach and all rooms have a great view! Our room had a kitchen. Staff was very friendly! We loved this resort!

I must say that I discovered this place by chance and I never regretted to spend my vacation together with my wife two years in a row. I enjoyed the friendly and professional hotel staff, always available to help us out. We also liked to feel safe swimming inside the protected area in front of the beach thanks to a natutral wall of rocks blocking the waves. We felt like we were swimming in a big private pool! The beach itself was a bit rocky, with very tiny pebbles and some sandy spots. The view was enchanting from every spot, but we enjoyed it the most from our balcony, 5 floor right above the beach. Both my wife and I want to return to this enchanting place, which I definitely recommend to all of my relatives and friends!

Nice hotel. Nice staff. Large, clean rooms. Cheap bus ride to old town and good shopping and restaurants. Plenty of taxis too.

We felt very welcome from the minute we arrived to the last day. The pool was wonderful overlooking the ocean. There were activities going on most of the day. The food was very good and they had a nice selection. The prices overall were quite reasonable. Happy Hour was especially fun meeting up with other guests and enjoying a nice warm bowl of fresh popcorn. Each room is overlooking the ocean. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Puerto Vallarta.

I did some home work before my stay at Costa Sur and was not disappointed. The location is perfect, not too busy and an amazing view. The room, though a little dated was large and extremely comfortable. The staff were very helpful and available to assist with anything or any information that you needed. We loved the convenience of the bus stop right out side the hotel. All the peopls staying there were pleasant and in a "relax" atmosphere. We will return again!

We stayed a few nights at Costa sur for a wedding. The view from our very large room was spectacular. We were underwhelmed by everything else. The room had a kitchen, but the pots were dirty. Breakfast came with our room, but it was eggs and bacon with no substitutions. The pool area didn't have enough chairs for everyone, mostly because the guests saved all the empty chairs and left. Also people were smoking cigarettes and cigars all over the crammed pool deck, so it was hard to get away from it all. They were also constantly running out of towels, with at least a 30 minute wait for a small batch of new ones that vanished immediately. The front desk staff were nice, but very slooooow.

Costa Sur was beautiful! The staff was great and so helpful especially Veronica and Erik. The only thing I would change is the main pool is sooooo cold that hardly anyone could stand to swim in it! There is another pool that is heated, but though there were signs posted that it was adult only, kids overran it every day, so it was difficult to enjoy. The buffet was ok, but a little pricey. Overall, I would recommend this resort.

Great rooms. All oceanview rooms just delightful. Older Hotel with a 1980s feel. Staff is first class. The pool area is not huge but could always get a good spot and great service. Beach is small but check web site. We took bus into town and would cab to return. Puerto Vallarta Discovery gave us a great city tour. Jorge A was a fun tour guide with perspective on all of Puerto Vallarta

My wife and I have been staying at Costa Sur for 12 years and have enjoyed our stay every time. All the rooms look out over the bay and are very clean. The staff is top notch and ready to see you have a good time. Fun for the whole family. We will be booking with them again next year.
