No elevator, no refrigerator in the room, the beach was in bad condition and pools were dirty.

We just spent 2 weeks at the Plaza Pelicanos Grand and had a fantastic stay. We traveled with 9 other couples for a week and spent a week by ourselves for our honeymoon. Everyone agreed that the food was very good and always could find something to eat anytime of the day. Really enjoyed that it was not crowded even though it was sold out the both weeks we were there. The drinks were great and plentiful...and so was the staff...will definitely be back next year!

Spring Break for a 37 year old single mom and 10 year old son. This is a Shell timeshare property. The presentation was a waste of time and the activities we got turned out to be the worst! We lost 1.5 days of our vacation to the presentation and a terrible “free” activity. Don’t do it!! Steer clear of the timeshare stuff and you’ll have a great time at this amazing property. The north end of the property is the older portion of the hotel is three stories – we stayed on the second floor in a room away from the pool on a little beach access alley. The view from the room was lacking, but was much quieter than being pool front. The tower portion has the only elevator and seems to be reserved for owners only. The only hot tubs are on top of the tower. I would have liked one down in the pool area. The pool area was majorly remodeled in September 2015 and is AMAZING! Fantastic pool, lots of lounge chairs and umbrellas, snack area with bar, super helpful staff ready to help by moving chairs or umbrellas. There are three eating locations: the buffet, the restaurant, the snack/bar that is open-air and becomes a restaurant at night. We loved the food. Tasty Mexican food all day and the specialty Brazilian restaurant had fabulous meats! It was hard to get clear information on the specialty restaurants. The staff gave inconsistent and incorrect answers as to what was available when, so we never even got the chance to try the Japanese night. Coffee is OK, not as strong as I’m used to, but available from a coffee station in the courtyard early in the morning, or from room service, or brew it in the machine in your room. Amenities and extras: room service, lots of activities available like water aerobics, yoga in a palapa on the ocean (the best!!), kayaking, games and more that we didn’t do. Wi-Fi is terrible, can’t even load a basic webpage. We saw several good evening shows. The downside of the evening shows is they are LOUD if you aren’t participating and will keep you up if you have an early morning flight or activity the next day. The beach is adjacent to the hotel. It is a short beach with the waves coming near to the hotel at high tide. It is also a steep beach with rough breakers and the shelf drops off as soon as you get past the breakers. There didn’t seem to be a pull one you get past the breakers, but you have to tread water since it is deep. The sand is COARSE, many small pebbles that were not comfortable for us to walk any distance on. Our room was on the small side, two full size beds, a bureau with some drawers, TV and mini-refrigerator. No table and chairs which we really would have liked to have. The beds are firm, but supportive as opposed to just hard. The fridge gets refilled sporadically, you will probably need to buy some bottled water at a nearby convenience store. The bathroom is again small but has the basics including a nice mild soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, and hairdryer that doesn’t really get the job done. If you’re picky about your hair, bring your own! Oh, and the room smell - like most places in a humid environment, the rooms can get a musty smell, especially when you first arrive. Crank the AC and keep it going to reduce the smell. It’s the jungle, it’s wet, you’ll get used to it. Other stuff: There are always plenty of taxis nearby and the city bus is just a couple blocks away. Many convenience stores, souvenirs, and farmacias within a couple blocks. If you need several items, go south a few more blocks to get to the Mega store where everything is half price compared to the corner OXXO store.

The staff was friendly and very respectful. The room was clean and the installations were too. I was pleased with all the activities that were held during my stay.

Well, overall, i had a great time out there! The only problem with this hotel would be the cleaning service. I lost $200 from my cabinet where i kept my clothes. I complained to the manager but never heard back from her again.

A warm welcome by check in. Very nice garden and pool. Rooms need to be updated. Enjoyable peaceful pergola for meals with lot of space. Excellent friendly professional staff at the restaurant. Some activities around the pool but still peaceful to relax on the seashore. One improvement is to increase the amount of sunbeds around the pool to give everybody the chance to get one.

For the price you couldn't really ask for more. Friendly and helpful staff, my only complaint is wifi service. Very hard to connect from room and very slow at times.

The Hotel is more of a Mexican crowd oriented, there's is alot of local families (about 15% international tourists). The place is an excellent choice if you don't plan o staying there all day and view the place more like bed and breakfast. The pool was very crowded and at the end of the day kind of dirty since it has a swim-up bar. Drinks are ok amd food was acceptable, every day we had something different on the menu. Staff is very attentive and pleasant. Overall I would definitely recommend this Hotel if you think you fit in with the locals.

There was very little beach and way too many children unsupervised in pools. The bed felt like we were sleeping on the box springs and they formed a king by putting the two twin box springs sideways. No ice machines working. Would not go again.

I really enjoyed this hotel. We felt safe. It is close to the Mega Market, so convenient for shopping. Buses are close, so no need for taxis. I got a $20 massage down the street. The pool and activities were great. And the gym is included, with excellent equipment. We will definitely be back!

we had a gteat time. Food was great staff were excellenté Everthing was organized well. No negative comments..

We have been going to Puerto Vallerta every Winter for over 15 years and this was the very best room ever. We have stayed at the Pelicanos Club Resort 3 time s before but never the Grand. The Grand is much, much nicer than the Club. As with most all of the resorts in PV, the staff was outstanding, food was great and Weather that can't be beat. The last six years we stayed at the Friendly Vallarta but this year the price at the Pelicanos was much better so we tried it and are glad we did. We have stayed at most of the all inclusive resorts over the years and now the Pelicanos Grand will be our first choice.

Stayed here before and there were 3 sections to go and enjoy, now you allowed only one section which is too small with too many chidren in the pool. No beach; water comes right up to break wall. I knew this but it was made up with the use of 3 pools. No beer and wine all night as advertised; some nights only tacos as a snack and then some nights nothing at all. No constistancy. Also the last day we checked out at 11 am as we needed to and were allowed to sit by the pool until it was time to go to airport but allowed nothing without paying; and it was expensive, The 1st time at an all inclusive this happened to me.L

one night there was a party by the pool in the middle of the hotel- put on by the hotel with a 100 or more people at the party that last until 2am or so in morning-- extremely loud--kept the family up most of the night--- food ok -- nothing special--

The location of the hotel and amenities are very good and the staff is really friendly. I had a good experience and I would go back to that location but not in all inclusive regime- the food and drinks were poor and I am not a picky person

I stayed at the club side in Jan. and enjoyed it very much.I booked the club again, upon my arrival was told it was closed and was sent to the Grand. There is only 1 pool,1 bar,a buffet and 1 restaurant that changes its name so they say there is 3.Buffet is almost inedible.I am not a picky eater by any means and even I had a hard time finding something. My wife enjoyed the omlet station for breakfast. The alcohol is of very low quality,a few people brought their own booze to the bar and just used the mixers.Rooms are nice, clean and comfortable. Most staff member are very friendly, with the exception of the front desk, they werent very helpful.I would not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

Rhythms of the Night and City Tour were highlights. Otherwise we just relaxed by the pool and in our room when it got too hot and humid to be outside. It was disappointing that there was no cool indoor bar. Food was acceptable, but nothing really stood out as exceptional. Drinks were plentiful, but very ordinary. We wished the mini bar/refrigerator had been a little bigger, and really missed having a microwave in our room.

We had just finished three weeks working in another part of Mexico with no air conditioning and luxuries such as television. We only wanted to relax in some air conditioning, have some drinks and eat some good food. So we chose one of the cheapest resorts we could find. We arrived to find that the main bar was closed indefinately. The beach was very small and closed after 9pm. Most unfortunately, the food was extremely poor. There was very little to choose from and even condiments such as butter were at a premium if you could manage to flag down one of the few employees to restock the small buffet. Overall, the resort was far understaffed, we felt bad for how hard some of the staff had to work just to attemp to meet the needs of the visitors. The food was in no way good. We resorted to eating out despite having paid for an all inclusive vacation on our last day. This was simply a cheap hotel. We got what we paid for I suppose. We do not recommend this resort for anyone unless you can afford only the cheapest options. You too, will get what you pay for.

Be sure you know if it is the grand or the club that you are booking...I was sure it was the grand, but under room it said club. What I thought was booked was VERY different than the club. NO fitness center, not on the beach, room did not have, fridge, micro, coffee maker, iron (shucks..), alarm clock or even a blow dryer. I spoke to at least five other people who thought they were getting the grand!! Also advertises restaurants. There were two at the club - Italian and Japanese. We were given a voucher for one meal during our 4 night stay there, which we didn't know. When we went to make our reservation for Italian on friday, that restaurant was closed. Same thing for saturday. We had not been told this either. The manager did accomodate us which we were pleased and grateful for. Plus side, [...] the omelette chef was exceptional and the staff was very good! We feel duped, as did others and will not use this or the sister resorts again.

Hard to find hotel. There are two, and I was at the unmarked one. Two buildings, not close to one another. I stayed in one, and food at specific times were in another. If you were not there during those times, you were out of luck. Typical hotel staff, obviously trying to please you, only because they had to. Going to visit a friend, had called ahead to make sure I could get a day pass, and when I got there they said they were full and weren't selling them. I took the Grayline shuttle to the hotel, which was actually just a hired taxi. They were horrible. I would definitly just hire a taxi next time.
