Worst place ever stayed at. Money stolen from my bag in my room which I get I shouldn’t have left but no one should be going through my bags. Food disgusting and cockroaches in room. Save your money!

Hotel is easy access to the beach and it’s a plus that you have access to the other two Pelican’s hotel near by. Of course, you have booked all inclusive; Food and Drinks.. Only issue we had, was the room card kept getting deactivated. We had to go 4 times to the front office to get that fixed. You must check the Skyline lounge to get the perfect view at night and have a couple drinks.. They should open earlier!

Very quaint and safe. Food was really good but a small selection and hot food sometimes was cold. Definitely needs renovating. Shower almost flooded bathroom. Sky bar had an amazing view. It was strange that that they gave us a bill with a balance of $0 after meals with being an all inclusive stay. They also wanted to charge $25 pesos for a bottled water outside of the room. Older crowd so not much nightlife. Also, with older crowd, they were up at the crack of dawn hoarding chairs by pool and beach. 1.7 mile walk to Malecón. Overall, nice stay but depends what you are looking for. Honest review here… but would go back.

Our stay at Plaza Pelicanos was great. The place is a bit run down and out dated, particularly the washrooms but when you are spending the majority of the day outside it doesn’t play a huge role. The food is average, but good none the less. Staff were kind and caring, helped us with all our concerns and requests. Pleasant stay overall, great for the price point it is at.

We had a great week at Pellicanos! It’s the smallest resort we’ve stayed at and enjoyed the fact the staff gets to know you quickly and also the fellow guests. I’ve also never met so many people at a resort so the vibe was very friendly. Yes some of the staff struggle with English but I think this only adds authenticity and charm to the experience! The Friday night fiesta was a highlight - extra decorations and dinner set up around the pool. The food was super authentic - the Mexican family seated with us mentioned there were many dishes that their grandma used to make. Overall the food was quite good - the buffet had lots of vegetables and fish & seafood. The pizza from the outdoor oven was delicious and the ceviche at the outdoor cafe was yummy. Lunch had a rotating taco selection - fish was our favorite. There’s only one a la carte restaurant with 2 rotating menus. It’s a bit fancier than the buffet and the service was 5 star. Be sure to make your reservation in the morning at the buffet. There was entertainment in the evening, nothing too spectacular but something fun. After 10 pm the resort is very quiet. My two complaints: 1) they need more loungers. You literally have to get up before dawn to secure a place to sit. This could easily be solved by buying 30 more chairs. There’s plenty of room to put them! 2) There are 2 parts of the resort - the newer being the pictures on Expedia. We were in the older section but had no way of knowing that before we checked in.

We were very disappointed with the hot water situation some days I couldn’t even have a shower due to the very cold water. The internet was not good at all. The staff was great being on the beach was wonderful.

A pleasant stay at Pelicanos. 1 bedroom suite in the tower was a great room. Older resort but very pleasant. Good location and great beach. Staff were awesome.The only down side was the buffet. Not very good.

Food and staff related were great. The walking area has safety issues with damaged bricks and missing ones a shortage of sitting for outdoor lounging a regular room inspection would help stay on top of things

Overall this property was great. There seemed to be a consistent problem with rooms at check in. Many guests including us were given older room that were nothing like the description or pictures of the property that we booked. However the guest services manager (Jenna?) was over the top in trying to find a suitable solution for us. She was AMAZING with us throughout our stay. There is a HUGE problem with pool chairs being held at 6am and no one using them until well after lunch sometime. so if you don't get up early and play the chair game , plan on not using the pool area that day. But for us these are minor things that are NOT going to ruin a beautiful holiday in the sun! Positive things.... the resort is clean, for us the food was fantastic everywhere we ate, and they do have great food options for a smaller size resort. And the Sky bar at the top is beautiful place to relax in the evenings. The property location is excellent. Walking distance or short Uber ride to everything. So a BIG yes! I would and will come back to this resort again.

Definitely dated. Buffet food more often than not cold. Burger and fries and pizza by the pool was the best food! Smaller resort which I really liked. Everything was close and convenient. Very nice, friendly “community” of timeshare/owners. Nicest people! More lounge chairs and umbrellas could/should be added. Best lounge chairs compared to other resorts. The things I did not like were not so bad that I wouldn’t return. I would recommend to friends but would warn about bring out dated and not the greatest buffet.

This could be an amazing resort with better front desk staff all of the other bar and restaurant staff are fabulous but the rooms need upgraded and they have a lot of issues with providing the wrong room to people who book and don’t get what they want. The front desk won’t help and are often rude when issues arise there could be improvement in providing better hospitality in this department

It is a smaller resort but well worth it by the third day most of the staff know you by name and it’s very convenient to take a taxi or Uber or the bus to any place you’d like to go!

The good and the bad

Very mixed experience at this hotel. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had lovely service from the restaurant staff and thoroughly enjoyed our meals there. The building, unfortunately, has seen better days. Hot water was a major problem during our visit. Other guests we talked to had similar complaints. This seems to be an ongoing problem that front desk and maintenance staff were well aware of. After 4 days of NO hot water, we got a new room. Couple good days, then alternating cold and hot in the shower. There was no meaningful compensation for all the time and inconvenience this caused us. I realize that these are first world problems, but if they want to compete in this market, they should fix the problem and not give rooms to guests in the affected areas in the meantime.

Other than no hot water in the shower, the timeshare money grab from the hotel itself, the obvious unkempt state, lack of dining options, and partial rude staff; the stay was enjoyable. What made the place was the guests and most of the great staff! Unsure if we'd recommend or if we'll return as of yet.

Canadian couple on our honeymoon. Everything was what we expected for the money we paid. Yes, you can spend up to double the price and get a much better experience. We read the reviews before leaving, and got nervous over all the 1 star reviews. Don't let them deter you. There were some "Karen's" complaining that they are not receiving a 10/10 experience. You get what you pay for, and we were more than happy with the service, cleanliness, and food. If you want a Mexican experience, you'll get it. If you want the Hilton experience, go there, and leave the friendly staff in Mexico alone.
