InterContinental Kansas City at The Plaza

bedrooms were well appointed, but the bathrooms were dated. the shower head was new and much too powerful for the drain that backed up and we were in 3 inches of water each time we showered. they tried to fix it but could not.

Hotel is under remodeling and no lobby available. Had to walk extremely long distances to get to room and then back out of hotel. Got woke up at 7:15 am in the morning on a holiday to jackhammering right outside the window of our room. This is a historically nice expensive hotel in Kansas City. Very disappointed that no warning of this during booking the hotel and that no offer to improve room/location/etc. Poor customer service during this issue.

Hotel is very overpriced for uncomfortable bed and pillows. Housekeeping did not even come to clean our room until after 6:00 pm. Bar and restaurant area is small and crowded. Only plus is location and easy access to food and shopping at the Plaza

This is a classic old Plaza original under a new name, and it has the charm of similar european hotels.

Room wasn't cleaned after first night's stay until after 5pm.

It was a beautiful hotel, clean and great location. However the walls were so thin that we heard our neighbors' conversations all night! There was no water bottles in the room, it seemed as if everything was extra $ - parking, breakfast...a lot of money for not a lot of amenities.

The hotel is finely appointed and gave great views of the Christmas lights in the Plaza. The hotel bar was outstanding experience with a roaring fire on a damp day.

Perfect location for plaza restaurants and stores. About a 10 minute or so cab ride to power and light district. Hotel and rooms were clean and the staff members were great. I'd stay here again.

The Inter Continental is a great spot to stay. Room as very large and overlooked the plaza. Staff was generally A+. My compliments to Nevada at the front desk and Claudia a lovely server in the restaurant. Claudia went above and beyond after finding out that no one had connected with us after a 20 minute wait. Great place to stay with comfy and convenient rooms.

My best friend and I were in town for the One Direction concert. We started our trip at another hotel that was undergoing renovations that they didn't disclose and it was not very enjoyable so we decided to splurge and upgrade to the Intercontinental. It was like night and day! Such a beautiful hotel, very timeless and elegant. From the minute we checked in we were treated like rockstars. The front desk staff, especially Nevada, were so helpful and even upgraded us to a nicer room. The pool is a lovely place to relax, especially with a bar and full service restaurant! Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a balcony overlooking the plaza and it was just perfect. Loved this hotel and would love to stay here again when we return to KC in a few months.

Returned to Kansas City at Christmas for the first time since going to school there. Very nice room, with a beautiful view of the Plaza. Excellent service! Looking forward to returning!

Enjoyed the stay at the hotel and the staff were friendly, accommodating, and committed to good service. I was disappointed that we had some issues with the TV remote and the in room coffee maker didn't work and I had to call and have it replaced. I expected a working fridge in the room and there wasn't one but otherwise loved it.

I stayed here with 3 other girlfriends for a bachelorette party. The room was really nice. We weren't in the room all day except for checking in, changing for dinner and then for the night around 11:30pm. At the time we all went to bed we realized that our room backed up to the elevators. They ran ALL night. I wish we would have been warned at check in because I would have asked for another room. Also there was no hot water. The poor bachelorette had purple lips after her shower. She took her shower at night so the rest of us decided to try the shower in the morning. We thought the hot water would be there then. Well it was just as cold as the night before. Finally the drain in the sink was clogged. The water tool forever to drain. It was really a nice room but we really didn't enjoy the stay. The view from the room was gorgeous. We looked right onto the plaza.

We found this hotel staff to be very friendly. We booked on late notice and got a beautiful room with a great view of the Country Club Plaza. The ONLY complaint we had was we could hear the band from our third floor room when we wanted to go to bed. However it was nice to have the entertainment option as the weather was snowy. We will definitely be coming back as location was fantastic.

I was very disappointed with our motel stay for paying close to $400.00 for one night lodging, there is nothing special about this motel. There is not even a blow dryer or refrigerator for your personal use. Refrigerator thay have in your room is a bar that once you open costs $3.50 for a can of soda....Ridiculous! There is no breakfast included......and they do NOT tell you parking in the attached garage costs $15.00 a night!!!! Staff were not overly friendly or helpful.... Just expected a great deal more for the price! We will NOT return. Only positive is location & that being close to Plaza!

I reserved my room through a 3rd party and specified TWO queen beds. When we arrived to check - in I had to stand in line for ten minutes. I was not told that I would not be given a room with 2 queens. So, we went to our first room to find a king and a set of chairs. I went back to the Lobby to stand in line for another 5 minutes to be told that all they had were rooms with 1 King and a pull out. After trying the next room, the keys did not work. Had to go back and stand in line for another 5 minutes to have keys re-programmed. DID NOT START OFF THE WEEKEND VERY WELL.

friendly people. nice location. easy walk to all of the great restaurant and shops on the plaza

the hotel is nothing special but the prices are top shelf. be ware of the restaurant and room service.

Just an amazing location, amazing view, and amazing pool. Staff is very friendly and supportive.

The staff at the hotel are extremely kind and accommodating. Location is fabulous - close to river with gondolas, restaurants, and shopping. Room was clean but starting to show some wear. The television is positioned to the side instead of in front of the bed - making it awkward to watch. All in all a positive experience. Don't book through Priceline though.

Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to write this review. I am very glad to hear you enjoyed the restaurants and shopping available on the Plaza. I sincerely apologize for the housekeeping issue you experienced during your stay. I assure you housekeeping arriving that late is not our norm and is something I can look into. As for the rooms and the Bar area I don’t know if you are aware but we are starting our room renovations this January. We will also be expanding the bar area since our live music brings a bigger crowd. I hope in the near future you will give us another chance to show you true hospitality. Thank you again for the wonderful feedback. Don Breckenridge General Manager

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback. We're glad you found our hotel to be clean and in a good location. As is the case with every upscale and luxury hotel in Kansas City, we do charge for some of the additional services provided. This includes parking and breakfast. The hotel does provide complimentary toothpaste and other toiletries at the front desk. Additionally, a variety of amenities are placed in the restroom of each guestroom. Once again, thank you for your feedback. Sincerely,
