Always hot water with volume. Bed was very comfortable.

Overall it’s good , happy with that price , so I will recommend this hotel

I should've know better with all the negative reviews. Our room turned out to be just as run down and dirty as others have stated. I think this site should ugrade the pictures of their rooms to show you what you really get. Could be false advertising? I called the hotel directly to book an additional adjoining room but there was no guarantee. Upon arrival, we discovered they messed up our rooms. We were told had we booked both rooms directly through the hotel they would have put us in the "nicer" rooms. But according to the receptionist, the other towers were all full. The only good thing was we did get an adjoining room, thankfully that was a little cleaner then the other room.

It has a convenience free parking lots and garage.

A great place to breeze into town, with a minimal reservation. The Sand's is far enough from the larger casinos to have a quite get-a-way, but close enough to walk around the downtown area. The Health Club on the 17th floor was really a nice treat, including a steam room. Overall, this being my 1st time at the Sand's, I would stay here again.

My original booking through Orbitz was a one bed smoking room. Not my preference, but the only available low price option. At check-in, the staff was accommodating and gave me a non-smoking room. Room furnished with the basics, but no frills. E.g. no coffee maker. I suppose this is typical for casino hotels. The TV remote off/on did not work, but channel and volume were OK. No nob on the sink stopper shaft, and the stopper did not seal the drain. When you wear contact lenses, these things are a concern. Biggest problem, the HVAC unit was VERY noisy with a frequent start-up and shut down cycle. Although set at 72, room seemed cold when I arrived. It did warm up, but the off/on cycle kept me awake, or would awaken me. If I had another blanket, I would have shut it off, but as it was pretty cold two of the nights. I suppose that's due to my body, not the HVAC. Yes, I could have asked for a blanket or complained about the HVAC. If the noise problem was peculiar to my room, the hotel would probably like to know. If my experience is typical--it's time for a change. I'm sure the hotel would have accommodated a request for a blanket or even offered a room change, but when you're already in bed before you think of asking, you just don't bother. Orbitz. I am not pleased with your gimmick at the last step of the booking process when the "We hate it when this happens, but the price has just been increased" message appears.

Room smells bad. Smoke alarm goes off when the heater is on. Some staff is ok but most is rude if u have a question. Would rather sleep in my car then stay there

Hotel needs to be remodeled building is falling apart. The room was filthy, bathroom wasn't cleaned properly.

Overall nice hotel, could use some TLC as it is evident that the property is a few years old.

Was given wrong room - 2 beds instead of 1 king maids didnt come until requested and sometime aftr 5pm Room was dirty and non smoking smelled like a smoking room Hotel needs immediate update and remodeling

Over all happy with the price . Will stay here again.

Friendly staff at the hotel. Quick and easy to find the registration front desk.

After pre paying 4 months ago, we were surprised to have a recent 75.00 resort fee deposit! AND, I could not pay for it in cash!! (they are not set up for that) It was not the same SANDS Hotel I had remembered, that's for sure. In much need of a facelift! Then we get to the room...I do not know what the "Resort fee" was for because this sure was not one...no coffee pot, no microwave and no fridge in the room...and the pool, well I am not even sure there was one! The ads in the room also claimed "fast friendly drinks while you gamble" yeah...no. We only ever had one person come and ask if we wanted a drink and actually come back with one! The little café was okay until you go up to give your order...I didn't realize it was my job to make the girl behind the counter happy. Not very friendly at all. The only thing good was the housekeeping staff, they were great! At check out it seemed the girl was rather put out she had to come out and work.

I originally booked a non-smoking room for one night after we got back to Reno from Burning Man. I am told at check-in that all they had were smoking rooms and that it was first come first serve policy. Well if that is the case, what the heck is the point of a reservation!?!??! To make matters worse the bathroom had not been cleaned, had dirty towels, and no toiletries. All we wanted was a clean room and a nice hot shower after returning from Playa and neither were provided. I will NEVER stay at the Sands again nor would I EVER recommend anyone to stay there. The hotel was dirty and in need of maintenance as well.

Room was large, clean, although old and needs updating cosmetically. The non-smoking room appeared to be on a non-smoking floor and no cigarette odor was present. Bed was comfortable. All employees I encountered were very pleasant and all requests were courteously handled. Don't get a room near the elevator in the Empress Tower. I had to move my room (which was easily done) due to the very loud elevator noise. Water was heated quickly. Towels were good. Food was unexpectedly good, especially at Mel's Diner and the coffee shop.

really enjoyed the pool party on Labor Day! was disappointed in waiting over a half hour at the bell desk for help with my luggage. No one ever showed up. I had to take my luggage up myself after wasting my time waiting. I waited after the Return expected time indicated on the desk to no avail. Room was clean and comfortable , shower was nice and hot! but towels can use an upgrade. Mexican food in hotel was excellent! excellent location, walking distance to other hotels, museum, river walk

Hotel had easy parking, close to the river, lot's of restaurants and other hotels.

About 3 blocks away from Virginia Street. Rooms were larger than expected, but furniture is old. Great restaurant on sight, Mel's Diner. Checkin was more efficient than expected. Limited parking, but it was Hot August Nights.

The hotel is dated, but I guess you get what you pay for. When you check in, you'll get charged a roughly $15 resort fee to cover things like, "the pool, internet, and the hotel shuttle" according to the person at the front desk. There's a sign in the elevator warning you that you'll be charged for the cost of rescuing you if the thing breaks down while you're in it. That's a first for me. The place isn't bad, it just always they haven't invested much in it for a while.
