TownePlace Suites by Marriott Dallas Las Colinas3.0 out of 5.0

They mean well with the service here but the professionalism could be stepped up a notch or two. Also, just from a few months ago to my most recent stay, this property is approaching the point at which a redo is going to be critical. The hallways and rooms are dark, dingy and tired. Definitely not up to Marriott standards. The one shining star is the complimentary breakfast - it was very good.
nothing fancy here, basic in room features and the typical lower market treatment. i was a good price and clean, so no major complaints, not just tops in this market. The location is right in Las Colinas, close to everything, so if you are on a budget and can get a good rate you can't go wrong. There is a small sofa sleeper in the main room if needed
After a careful selection of Hotels in the area I booked this hotel. For 99 a night, I couldn't find a hotel that had a separated living area and a kitchenette inside the room. So like most of my reviews I have a pro and cons section. Pro's- The Hotel sits in a major area that is easy access to most anything you want and the area is very nice and seems to be a low crime area. The parking was very easy and not hard to find a spot even when the Hotel seemed full. Check in was fast and the lady at the desk was very nice and helpful. I used the Marriott application on my smart phone for the first time and made some room request all of which were finished way before i reached the Hotel. The room was very clean and well laid out. The pull out bed in the living room was a nice feature. The tv's worked very well and the kitchen was well stocked. The bed in the room was super soft and comfy. The breakfast that is provided is one of the best I have ever had while staying at a Hotel and far exceeded my expectations. Cons- When I got to the room I attempted to call down to the front desk. Both room phones would call out but the i could not hear the front desk. After numerous attempts to reach the staff at the front desk a clerk came to our door. She was very rude and told me" you hung up on me" after i told her the phone did not work.It took until the next morning for maintenance to fix the issue. The clerk i stated about above later on was very nice and i had no other issues with her. The room does not match the layout as provided by the website and this needs to be addressed for the future. The property is in need of a much needed update all the way around and is showing its age. In all I would give this hotel 4 out of 5 stars and would stay here again.
Stayed here 2 nights to have easy access to freeways and be in a quiet location. The hotel is older & could stand a remodel, but it's clean and doesn't smell! The staff is friendly and professional from the front desk personnel, housekeeping, grounds and dining room staff. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise. All made onsite, not frozen and reheated. We stayed in a room with 2 bedrooms with queen beds. There is a fully furnished kitchen, which was nice for snacks and reheating leftovers from dinner the night before.
For my last night in Dallas I wanted to be closer to the airport, so I ended up booking (through priceline "express deals") a 3 star hotel and got the Townplace Suites. Ok, not what I would have chosen but it is by Marriott and I have standing with Marriott as a rewards traveler (even though I don't get points through priceline, I am supposed to be recognized for any upgrades, etc). I called in around 5:00pm to tell them we wanted to go to dinner with friends on the other side of town and wanted to advise them we would be a late check-in and ask if we could get a room assignment. We were told rooms were only assigned upon check-in so we left it that (BIG mistake). When we finally arrived at around midnight, I asked if we had a double double (my son was traveling with us). The night desk clerk said that I had a single queen and that was the last room but there was a "pull-out". He said it was their very last room and that he had nothing else to give us (he failed to mention it was also a handicap room). I told him we called in earlier but the desk would not allow us to reserve a room until we arrived. He said we could refuse the room if we wanted (but it was now after midnight and I did not have reservations elsewhere, so what could I realistically do but stay at this juncture?). Well, when we got to the room it was very poorly laid out. Electrical outlets were behind furniture legs, there was no luggage rack on which to put our luggage and the "pull-out" could not be pulled out because it lined up with the heating/air conditioning unit and faced the bed (see pictures). Did I mention that it was not made up? And when we went to do so, we noted severe staining on the mattress and rust on the frame (I HOPE it was staining on the mattress). My son ended curled up in the fetal position (NOT a full-sized couch, think Ikea or children's sized), clothed and on top of the cushions (because we could not open it anyway). The queen made loud noises when you moved, there were white substances of unknown origin dripping on the walls and black floating things (looked like from a pipe) in the toilet. On top of it all, a laminated card in the room said that management wanted our "highest overall experience and recommended rating" and if we encountered problems to notify the front desk immediate to resolve it. I did and my only option was I was told I could leave, not let me call a sister property and see if they have availability .... My highest rating is a "2" out of 5 and I think I was somewhat generous with that rating! NOT a happy Marriott Rewards member.
we live in east Texas area and had an early flight, good place to be in the area. the furniture cushions had been cleaned earlier and were still wet, the stay was short and sweet, there was construction in the lobby that made things a little hard for check in and out
I stay here a lot. I love to stay this hotel because they make you like you are at your own home. I will continue to stay there. I wish they will still offer marriot points w money. There breakfast is so nice.
I felt safe and I appreciated all the personnel that I came in contact with. Great place to stay. Great location with several business around us and great amenities. I enjoyed breakfast every morning and dinner twice a week. The laundry room was big and available when needed.
We had a pleasant stay. The staff is friendly and always willing to help. The hotel is closed to the market and you can get all the necessary items. Its an accessible location with a peaceful environment.
I booked this hotel almost two weeks in advance - the location is in walking distance to the office I was visiting. As soon as I walked in, the clerk said, "we have a situation." Made some calls to other local properties and ended up over a half hour drive away at a disappointing property and was late for two subsequent appointments. Once I finally got onto the internet and TripAdvisor, I found several properties only a few minutes away from this hotel. Disappointed that they can overbook but charge no-shows and then so cavalierly re-locate me to a far away hotel when others are closer. So - maybe the hotel is OK - if you can actually get to stay there! Be wary of whether this hotel will honor your reservation!
