The rooms are nicely decorated and spacious. The complimentary breakfast was very special.. Nice presentation. I hosted a baby shower for 40 people in the tea room. The atmosphere was lovely, the catered food was good, the staff was very helpful. Working with the event planner was a very pleasant experience. She was able to accommodate the guests' needs, and made the whole experience very enjoyable. I would recommend to others wanting to "get away" for a weekend, or throwing a bridal or baby shower.

We were genuinely looking forward to our stay at the Morehead Inn. First impressions did not disappoint. Public spaces on the first floor of the main building were spacious, nicely furnished and comfortable. Staff that greeted and checked us in were friendly, engaging and enthusiastic, guest parking was a bit tight but very adequate. Our room was on the second floor of the main building. Going up to our room we were impressed by the grand staircase, until we turned at the landing and were confronted by a steel and glass commercial door, totally out of place for its surroundings. Things went downhill from there. To be fair, they are renovating the rooms, however the upstairs lounge area looked like a used furniture store and the hallway to our room was dark and cramped. Our room, the "Cleveland," had fresh paint and carpet but the furniture was in terrible condition. The sofa and chair were filthy and badly worn. The bathroom was small but functional however the toilet didn't flush effectively. The weather was unusually warm for our stay. The air conditioning in our room was too cold for our comfort. We tried adjusting our thermostat but that had no effect. Photos of the inn feature a welcoming outdoor terrace, but they don't show that it faces a very busy, noisy street. Breakfast was as represented on the sign at the front desk when we checked in. The person in charge of the dining room could have done a better job of explaining where things were because they weren't obvious when we were seated, but overall the breakfast was fine. We have stayed in many B&B's and small inns and learned a long time ago that they all have their quirks and flaws so we were not expecting perfection, but we were frankly shocked by the chaotic conditions we encountered upstairs. It's great that management is investing in the property but It would have been appropriate for them to warn prospective guests of the conditions they would encounter and offer a discount on the affected rooms.

MOORHEAD INN, formerly the Coddington House, was built by Charles Campbell Coddington in 1917. The home was well known as a center of hospitality in Charlotte. The current MOORHEAD INN reflects those congenial, and gracious days. My favorite of all the awesome historical, furnishings was the GRAND CURVING STAIRCASE. The INN, is a venue for weddings and other special events. I can picture a BRIDE descending that stairway with poise and grace. Period furnishings enrich the marvelous architecture of the monumental home. My rooms were charming, I wanted to take the comfortable bed home. If I HAD to grumble about something, a very few of the antique furnishings showed their age, but that took nothing away from the MAGNIFICENT SPLENDOR of the home. Philomena Willocks is Guest Services Manager, of MOORHEAD INN. She provided an incredible WELCOME when I arrived. My nerves were frayed from travel, and concern for my husband’s health. He was transferred by ambulance to a Charlotte Hospital for a serious heart episode. Philomena’s calm and caring attitude was just what I needed. She is extremely warm-hearted, and her smiling personality is contagious. I believe she is an ANGEL in disguise. The first thing she did was feed me with banana, peanut butter and bread from her own apartment. It was evening and I had not eaten for hours. She is not only an organized and methodical manager, she is also extremely accommodating, and considerate. She effectively goes about her various obligations, offering precise instructions to her staff with polite and detailed direction. Philomena is a superb asset to the MOORHEAD INN ! ! !

My husband and I held our wedding ceremony and reception at The Morehead Inn this past June, and it was a lovely experience from Day 1 of the planning process to the end of our wedding day. Dorrys McArdle, our event coordinator at the inn, was truly delightful to work with and eased the stress of wedding planning for us. Not only does she have a wealth of experience in event planning/ coordination, she is also very knowledgeable about the inn, was extremely flexible in creating our menu and arrangements, and had a wonderful sense of humor that kept us laughing throughout the process. She was a real joy! Dorrys and the rest of the event staff at the inn ensured that our wedding day turned out to be everything that we envisioned - elegant and classy, yet relaxed and comfortable with Southern charm and warmth. It was truly the fairytale wedding that we'd dreamed of! The food was delicious, the flowers were absolutely stunning, and the ceremony/ reception timeline went smoothly (despite a few minor, unexpected snags beyond our control that will inevitably come up at these types of events)! Although it rained on our wedding day, Dorrys and team had worked with us closely on a Plan B (which for us was really another Plan A) in case of rain, and we decided the day prior to go with the indoor ceremony - our “other Plan A.” The wedding turned out to be gorgeous inside, and I was actually thankful we executed that approach so that we could fully embrace the gorgeous interior assets and ambience of the inn and make our guests as comfortable as possible. I was impressed at how much time Dorrys and the rest of our partners spent planning the alternate approach with us to ensure our event went smoothly rain or shine! A few other key contributors that made our wedding day successful at the Inn were Karen Teed (Something Classic) who did an incredible job managing our florals, Jane Daniel (Bluebird Events) who served as our fabulous day-of wedding coordinator, and Cliff Nichols (Cliff Nichols Photography) who was our awesome and thorough photographer. All 3 of these individuals had familiarity with The Morehead Inn and, along with Dorrys, served as an expert team of seasoned wedding/ special event professionals who are among the best in the Charlotte area! We additionally had a great DJ from High Point - Randy Smith ("Your Personal DJ") - who was an extremely entertaining and hilarious emcee for our special day! Dorrys, Karen, and Jane truly spent a great deal of time listening to and understanding our wedding vision and they turned it into a beautiful reality for us! I definitely consider myself to have a “Type A” personality, and can honestly say that our Morehead Inn partners/ staff remembered and attended to all the details I requested for the wedding decor, food/ beverages, florals, event timeline, and special requests. The inn accommodations for our guests were lovely as well…everyone commented that their rooms were charming and clean and had all the amenities they required. They also mentioned that the inn was conveniently located near the airport and other Charlotte area attractions. We all agreed it It felt like we were living in a classy Southern mansion for the weekend! Additionally, all of the inn employees were consistently warm, friendly, and helpful. Any time I stopped by to take a look at rooms for wedding planning purposes, the staff members on duty were always so kind and accommodating, and they all seemed truly excited and happy for us! Our guests commented on the attentiveness and hospitality of the staff team also…just what you'd hope for in your primary lodging venue for your dearest wedding guests! The only challenge I could identify with our wedding planning experience was some pricing ambiguity in the early planning stages for our event. The inn was going through a catering transition when we started planning our wedding, so the pricing model was changing and we were uncertain about the revised cost of food, beverages, and linens for awhile until the new cost details were worked out. Once we had clarity on the revised prices, the total cost for our preferred food, beverage and linen selections plus dinnerware/ glassware and gratuity was more than we had anticipated and budgeted; however, Dorrys did a great job of suggesting alternatives and working with us on modifications in the last few weeks to ensure the final cost would be close to our original budget. Not to mention the catering quality and professionalism is first class as a result of the transition, so it all worked out well in the end. Now that the transition is complete and the new costs are transparent, I'm sure the pricing estimation process will be much easier for future events. Overall our experience for our Morehead Inn wedding was wonderful, and I’d highly recommend the Inn as an ideal venue for weddings or any other special occasions. Centrally located in Charlotte and expertly staffed with top-notch event planners and guest service team members, The Morehead Inn is truly reflective of the Southern charm, grace, and hospitality you’d expect from a historic bed and breakfast landmark in the Queen City! Many thanks to Dorrys and The Morehead Inn team for exceeding our expectations and making our wedding day dreams come true! (I just wish it didn't go by so quickly...I'd like to rewind and live that day all over again!) :-)

We hosted our son’s Rehearsal dinner at The Morehead Inn in August. First of all, I’d like to say how wonderful Dorrys is to work with. She listened to our wants and needs and was quick to offer up suggestions to keep our event within our budget. On top of that she’s just really fun to work with! By the time our event arrived we greeted watch other as friends with a hug. We used the Tea Room and the courtyard / garden. She was quick to point out that we needed a rain option too. The Inn was very well maintained and everyone was courteous and friendly. I felt as if we could be hosting in our home as it was comfortable and homey. The food was delicious! We went with a Southern menu and an open bar. The servers were professional and polite! I felt like I didn’t have to worry about a thing! I’d highly recommend this Inn for events!

We had the pleasure of being a vendor for a wedding held here recently. The grand old Dam of Morehead Street is grand again! It has been restored on both the outside and inside. The staff were so helpful to us! I highly recommend that anyone staying in Charlotte get away from it all at the Morehead Inn.

In addition to the beautiful decor, The Morehead Inn was warm and had so much character. We especially enjoyed working with Dorrys. She understood our vision from the start and was flexible when we made changes. Highly recommend this hidden gem in Dilworth.

Our third stay at the Morehead Inn. We love the relaxing ambiance, the friendly service, and the location so close to downtown. We also love the outstanding food, and relaxed dining at breakfast. We will definitely stay here again.

Impeccable service, wonderful food, and elegance are three words which come to mind immediately....oh and I forgot ambiance. I can't say enough good things about my experience at The Morehead Inn. The planning was a pleasure and the mouth-watering desserts and dips were quickly scarfed up by the attendees. Jason acted as director and no detail was left unattended. A thoroughly delightful time was had by all. Can't wait to go again!

In this day and age of rather impersonal behavior, be sure to visit The Morehead Inn for a good dose of reinvigorating, old-fashioned, charming hospitality -- it will restore your faith in customer service and put a genuine smile on your face! Every member of the staff (even the very youngest member!) was so very warm and polite and generally caring. Additionally, I loved my room (Hawthorne) with its outdoor garden and patio! And the breakfasts were so imaginative and definitely a delicious taste of the Old South -- nothing like a homemade berry scone with a REAL cup of coffee to start your day followed by an authentic Southern breakfast, especially the Sunday breakfast which was exceptional. I just have no complaints or warnings for other travelers -- the Inn was clean and there was ample parking. It was also so quiet and peaceful, unlike a traditional chain hotel. There was even a skittish, but friendly, little cat with one green eye and one brown eye there to deliver a Southern welcome! Thank you so much for making this trip such a delightful one. I can't wait to bring my wife to stay here as we travel to Charlotte to visit our son!
