We got married in April at the Ballantyne, and could not have picked a better venue! Everything from the warm/ inviting staff, the Spa service, our amazing wedding coordinator (Miss Allison Meyer) was perfect. The hotel and grounds are so beautiful and everyone enjoyed their stay so much. Although a bit on the pricey side, they are absolutely worth every penny. We hope to be back again very soon.
The Ballantyne is a beautiful property with impeccable service. Everything about this hotel is done well, from food, to service, to the facilities. It's absolutely beautiful and provides lots of areas that are great just for passing the time. The food was all delicious, and the service was some of the best I've ever had. The room itself is also very nice, with plenty of room, beautiful finishes, and comfortable beds. The bathroom has double French doors, a roomy shower, and an awesome soaking tub. The only thing I would've wished for is two sinks. With all the space, they really should've had two. I was traveling by myself for business, so it wasn't a big deal, but if I'd had my husband with me, I definitely would've wanted it. The room was pretty good for sleeping with really nice blackout curtains and fairly quiet atmosphere (I didn't hear too many other guests), but the thermostat caused issues for me. Most of the Starwood hotels have a standard thermostat that allows you to set it to run on fan constantly so you don't hear when the AC or heat switches on and off, and this one didn't have that. As a result, I'd wake up if it switched on or off and ended up sleeping with ear plugs. For a luxury hotel, this is something they should fix. I'm sure for some it's not a big deal at all, but I'm a light sleeper. The other thing was a lot of light came in around the door. But not a huge deal. What was really nice was the turndown service, where they set out slippers, more water, and chocolate, and turned on soothing music. It was a great touch! Overall, I really loved the property and appreciated the service provided.
We live in Charlotte and have stayed here on "staycations" and frequented the spa. We love this hotel. The staff is always super friendly and welcoming. The rooms and bathrooms are large and clean. The drinks are great. The pools are fabulous. There are even 2 endless pools. I have always had great spa treatments. Olga for facials is awesome. We cannot say enough nice things about this hotel- always a pleasure!
Fantastic resort. Pricey, but well worth it. The nicest and cleanest hotel we have ever stayed at. Unlimited restaurants within .2 miles. Staff was great and very helpful. Would advise anyone who needs a relaxing getaway to stay at The Ballantyne.
The hotel has it all - spacious lobby, great staff, pool, golf, spa, bikes, restaurants, high-tea all in a quiet country-like location. The menu in the restaurant tries too hard and offerings are funky and limited. I went with the burger and fries and neither disappointed! Loved all the trees, especially the magnolias, on the golf course. Easy course for the most part, but watch the speed on the greens!
My wife and I just had a terrific weekend stay at The Ballantyne for her birthday. We started with the very lovely afternoon tea consisting of bottomless bubbly, very good tea sandwiches, and rich desserts. Our server was very welcoming and professional. Then my wife had a lavender massage with hot stones, which she really enjoyed. We were fortunate to get an excellent room upgrade. The decor of the entire hotel is comfortable traditional luxury rather than sleek modern. We felt very much at home. Breakfast at the Gallery restaurant was good but not exceptional although the staff there and everywhere at the hotel were extraordinary in their helpfulness. The golf course views are great, and the pools (indoor and outdoor) are excellent. It is easy to walk to restaurants in the nearby shopping areas. The valet parking is excellent and complementary. I couldn't recommend a better place!
The grounds and rooms are beautiful. The front desk staff and concierge are all friendly and helpful. The fitness room was one of the best I have ever seen in a hotel. The pool is gorgeous, but the service in this area could really use some work. We experienced several service issues while trying to order food and drinks at the pool. To their credit, the hotel comped our lunches and made everything right. This would be a five star review were it not for the complete lack of follow-up by the lost and found department. About an hour after we checked out, my 10-year-old realized that his older brother had hidden his fidget spinner in the nightstand drawer and that, as a result, it had been left behind. I immediately telephoned the hotel and left a message for the lost and found department. That was Sunday. When I'd received no follow-up by Tuesday, I called again. Still no returned call. On Wednesday, I called and left a message at the front desk for someone to call me. It has now been nearly a week after I left the last message. The big deal is not the fidget spinner, it's the utter lack of customer service reflected in the fact that no one has so much as bothered to call and say they didn't find it. Giving a quick call back is cheap and easy, so there is no excuse for not doing it.
Just returned home, near Uptown Charlotte, from a wonderful 1 night stay with my sister, who had a meeting, and our daughters. Our rooms were well-designed and comfortable, including the beds Extra architectural details like arches, recessed sink area and hefty doors added luxury. Our dinner last night was excellent and I am particular. Group topped with soft-shell crab was delicious. So was calamari, crab cakes, popovers, and salad. Disappointments: the steak was ordered medium rare and arrived super rare. It returned still too rare. Though they got it the third time, the waiting threw a small wrench in the timing and relation.. The wonderful, professional 0lde School server helped the situation with complimentary glasses of red wine for the steak eaters. The hefty steak charges, however, remained on the bill. Plus none of us liked the oysters with Kimbuchi Mignonette Though the wine specialist was not working, we were given very good wine advise and loved our bottle of red. I also appreciated the spaciousness and low noise level - rare to find these days! It would be even more relaxing with lower lighting. My crab cakes Benedict for brunch was devine. The grumpy manager who served brought it over, not so much. The young man who did the rest of serving was great! We also loved the pool- water temp nice- not too cold. There were flags to request service, but we must have asked if we needed anything by 6 young( high school) employees in an hour. Kooky. I did not see food menu but my sister said it was limited. Wine menu simply said "Chardonnay", Cabernet" etc. - no info! But my 7 or 8 dollar glass of chard was very good. With the super large staff, I was disappointed to see the women's bathroom in a messy state with no t p in one of the stalls. I would give 4.5 stars since I had a few issues, but I am sticking with 5 because we had a great time. I hope to go back soon for a staycation with my husband if we see a great Local Residents package.... I could also imagine a great Spa visit with a friend, which would allow for use of pool and gym. I am glad we have Ballantyne in Charlotte!!
We stayed at The Ballantyne Hotel for 4 nights in May to attend a wedding. The resort was beautiful and very comfortable and the staff was simply amazing all around. Allan at the front desk was helpful and kind with every request. Service all around at this hotel is perfect. They don't miss a beat here. They know how to take care of you. I loved the in room coffee - it was outstanding. We also used room service which was very good and quick. Housekeeping was excellent. We used the valet car service to bring us locally which was great. We ate and had cocktails at the bar in the lobby as well as their restaurant and enjoyed it all. Dawn and Barbara at the Veranda Bar were absolutely incredible....so kind....perfect professional service. Breakfast in The Gallery was awesome. We also used the spa and pool areas....all excellent.
Having stayed at other Starwood luxury Collection Hotels in Peru which were all fabulous we only could hope for a similar stay. We were not disappointed. From check in to check out our stay was exceptional. Everyone on staff that we encountered was friendly and excellent at their job. Room service was timely and much better than we could expect with hot tasty food large portions. The room was large and very clean and room service did a great job of keeping it that way. Robes and slippers were provided and the beds (we did two queens) were exceptionally comfortable. We couldn't have expected more. Will definitely return on our next trip to Charlotte. Didn't mention the price but it was well below what we would expect to pay for such a high end property.
