We stayed at the Omni in Uptown Charlotte in early August, primarily because the hotel advertised an EV charger and a pool — two must-haves for our trip. Unfortunately, both amenities were either misleadingly represented or unavailable.
The EV charger turned out to be not owned or managed by the hotel, and access was first come, first served. We were told valet would park the car near the chargers, but that we’d have to handle the charging ourselves. While that wasn’t a huge inconvenience, the hotel should have made this clear on their website. It felt misleading.
Even more frustrating was the pool being closed for renovations — something we weren’t told in advance. No notice, no warning, and no offer of compensation or alternative. In the middle of a hot August stay, this was incredibly disappointing. Again, had we known, we likely would have booked elsewhere.
On the cleanliness front, the room was mostly fine, but we noticed chocolate stuck under the glass side table, and some hair in the carpet and bathroom. While hair happens, it’s not something I’d expect in a hotel of this caliber and price point.
On a positive note, the hotel is centrally located, which made it convenient for walking around Uptown. Staff were polite and the atmosphere was otherwise pleasant.
Overall, we might consider staying again — but only at a significantly lower rate and with more accurate information about what’s actually available.
