This was a breath of fresh air in Panama City where everything looked really old. We drove from Destin to Panama City and wasnt expecting to find this hotel there. It seems like it was remodeled so our room was very great. We stayed on the first floor. the bed was very comfortable and the pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was very very clean and the tub was spotless. The staff was very very helpful, me and my friend were in the fitness room for a couple hours and most of the machines don't work but the staff was helpful with our questions. The continental breakfast started at six in the morning and they had many choices. It was pretty good food. Well worth the money for the one nights stay!!
There's nothing special about this location. The prices are reasonable. The hotel appears to either be newly remodeled or brand new. It's clean and smells fresh. This location is about a 30 minute drive to the beach. There are local and chain restaurants around the corner. If you are looking for a beach location, this isn't it. But if you need a stopping place for the night, this would exceed your expectations. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful.
Staff gave my room to someone else. In the middle of the night I hear someone breaking into my room. Luckily I keep the latch on. I thought it was a dream. When I got up in the morning, the door was open with the latch was maxxed out!! I brought it to the front desk's attention and the woman laughed it off stating that the night shift person gave my room and keys to another guest!! Then to add insult to injury, my business plans changed and I had to check out at about 2:30pm that day and they charged me for another night! They shouldn't have considering their earlier mistake!
I would say my stay was average. The room had a weird smell to it. I thought it was just my room but my friends room smelled the same. The ac worked great. The TV was OK. Lots of channels wouldn't come through. It was a Directv box. I could not connect to the WiFi from my phone, tablet or laptop the whole time were were there. The breakfast was good. They served eggs, pancakes, sausage, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, muffins, yogurt and others. My room had two queen beds that were very comfortable. They provide both firm and soft pillows. I had a small table in the room with two chairs. I was also provided a microwave, small fridge, coffee maker, iron, iron board and hair dryer. They are remodeling the second floor currently. The workers never bothered me or woke me up with their work. The walls are a bit on the thin side as I could hear my neighbors very well.
I was in the hotel for one night. I found the staff to be friendly and parking to be easily accessible. The room was clean and a good size. The breakfast was great and items such as juice, coffee, eggs, biscuits & gravy, bacon, yogurt, etc. were served. Now for the problems. The cable television was AWFUL. The channels kept going out and the selection was in need of an overhaul. This is the first time, in eons, that I have been in a hotel that had CNN, but no Fox News. (While getting coffee, I heard another couple complaining about cable problems, too.) In addition, my traveling companion had major issues with the Wifi. The TV and internet problems were enough to get me to choose another hotel on another visit to the area. I will say that this was my second bad experience with a Holiday Inn Express. I have found that you can't beat Hampton Inn or Springhill Suites.
There may have been a time when I was in college and would have stayed at a Super 8 hotel, but now I mostly stay away from hotels with outside rooms. But, this particular Holiday Inn is on par with a Super 8. It was old and smelled of musty mildew. We could have gone to the Super 8 and had the same or a better experience while saving $70. We never mind paying over $100/night to stay at a Holiday Inn Express, but for this location, I'd warn you, DO NOT waste your money unless they invest in some upgrades and clean the place up.
Checked into a king suite for two nights on business. The room felt damp and had a musty smell when I got in. Generally speaking, the room's amenities need a good overhaul. The paint and carpet both need an update, the furniture is outdated, and the decor is sparse--not similar to what I've seen at other IHG hotels in the area. Upon closer inspection, the top sheet is stained (I only took a photo of one spot, but there are several), there is what appears to be mold growing around the smoke alarm in the bathroom, and the fixtures are separated from the wall/tub. Some of the walls are clearly water damaged, and I'm a bit worried that there might be mold problems throughout the room. The tub itself seems relatively new, as does the countertop. The rates are much lower than what I could find anywhere else, but I won't stay here again.
Stayed one night on business. There is not a whole lot to do (e.g., restaurants/ stores) more than about 10 minutes down the road where you find the mall and some restaurants. It appeared clean and the breakfast was nothing special; maybe a little less than your average Holiday Inn Express. I think my biggest complaint was when I checked in I was asked if I wanted extra points due to my status with this chain or a bottle of water and granola bar....um, I've never been asked that before. I've always just been given the water/snacks and points. Staff not overly friendly. Overall, it's OK if you need to be in the area.
I travel a lot and stay at Holiday Inn Express' all over the southeast. This one I stay about 2-4 times a month and every time there is a issue. This time the issue was one of the same as times before my exp date is not correct in their system which is usually not a problem they just manually enter it and I'm on my way. Oh but tonight I had to end up with Leslie and she just didn't care about me or my business as her exact words to me was "it's not my problem I fixing to go home". I will NEVER STAY AT THIS HIE AGAIN. Thanks Leslie!
This hotel is very convenient to anyone with business at Tyndall AFB. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean, comfortable, and quiet. Breakfast was standard Holiday Inn Express fare, which was good. I would stay here for any trips to this end of Panama City.
