Very convenient location, which comes with busy street. Cars honk in the middle of the night. Staff members and ppl slammed on the doors, it was hard to sleep thru the night. Rooms are extremely tiny, but acceptable cleaness. Facilities are old, not so appealing. There was only one elevator running for the whole building. Location was the only attractive criteria but might not consider living here again.

Excellent location for walking. Honking horns all night and banging radiator noises and too close and loud hand dryers in the adjacent bathroom made it a very restless sleep. Extremely unconfortable bed with lumps

Location is good. Because of the location, you can't ask for more by paying this amount of money.

Bathroom showers could use some work/more frequent cleaning. Bring shower shoes!

The staff was nice and friendly and the environment looked clean. It is OK if you have a last minute trip to New York for 1 night and you are going somewhere else permanently. The restrooms and showers are in a separate location from your room. It was OK just for me to lay my head down one night. But I sounds from my air conditioner and refrigerator kept me up for several hours. I would probably go somewhere else if I had time to properly schedule my overnight stay.

A good central location. Felt safe that Y staff always made sure we had our key cards before going up the elevator, so it was understood that it was secure. Having a private room but shared bathroom was not too much of a problem. Showering later at night was way more convenient, but most people were considerate with their time in the bathrooms.

I was only in town for a day, so I just need a place to lay my head. The Vanderbilt Y was a great place for just the minimum, it was conveniently located near Grand Central, Citibike rentals are out front, and there was no noise or pains. Recommend for those who aren't about hostels nor want to pay an arm and a leg for a standard hotel!

It's OK, very basic, but unexpensive for NYC , so in general good option if you're on a budget.

Hotels in New York are very pricey. This one provides very basic accomodations, but it is conveniently located, shared bathrooms are clean, rooms are small and worn. OK if you just need a place to crash.

My stay overall was good. It was real basic but for the price, it's hard to beat! Maybe better sheets and pillows but not bad. One thing I wasn't a fan of though was when I checked-in, they had to keep my license till the next morning.

This accommodation was perfect for us because it is centrally located and just steps away from Central Park. The room is small but if you only need a place to sleep and spend most of your time in the city it is a very good price because the room is clean and the area is very safe.

Great hotel - loved the location - great VALUE!! - clean rooms and especially bathrooms - twin beds were not very comfortable is my only complaint

Will never stay in Vanderbilt YMCA again, some staffs were very rude though one of them was so nice. You will need to pay for extra money for luggage storage and need to print out the confirmation when check-in, which is super weird to me. I am not sure whether it is because it is NYC.

I only use a room to sleep overnight while in NYC. It was fine.

I knew what kind of place I was going to but you can never be too prepared for a Place like this. Staff was rude. The room was small. The smell as... well, you know. I did what I came to do: see the city and get a good night sleep every night. And yes, of course, the location was ver y good.

great location, stuff let us check in early however, had to bring in a copy of a reservation printed out which was inconvenient.

good location. Clean. Friendly staff. Not bad for the money spent.

I got what I paid for. The bed was uncomfortable, and the communal showers sprayed everywhere. But the staff is very nice, and it's a nice value, and easy to navigate!

This place's location and price are the best things going for it. In the heart of east midtown, you're a nice 1-2 mile walk away from most touristy attractions and only a few blocks away from subway stations. It's a YMCA, so you won't be getting a fancy room and I had to put up with a lukewarm shower my first night, but it was clean and safe, so it met my expectations. Some staff are more friendly than others, but when I injured my foot before my most recent stay, they made sure to give me a room right across from the bathroom which was SO helpful. I'm definitely considering staying here again.

The location is great. Price is reasonable. Obviously you pay this much to stay in the midtown so you are getting what you are paying for. Bathroom/shower are shared within the entire floor, room is pretty small. Staff was friendly.
