Traveling from Tel Aviv to New York is a journey that requires more than 10 hours. Once you reach your destination, however, you'll be in one of the most entertaining cities in the world, with everything from five-star restaurants to Broadway, ready for you to enjoy. Though the trip may be long, making your travel plans shouldn't take long at all when you use Orbitz.com for flight and hotel reservations.
When you fly out of Tel Aviv, you'll be using the Ben Gurion International Airport, located about 12 miles from the city's business center. A train to the airport from Tel Aviv Center-Savidor station is just under $4.00 and takes about 20 minutes. Taxis are available to make the 25-minute trip at a cost of approximately $36. Parking at the airport is available for those who drive in, with fees beginning at $10 a day.
After your arrival at the airport, you can have a meal before boarding your flight at one of the available airport restaurants. Burgeranch offers a selection of fast food and hamburgers, or have a pizza at Pizza Hut. Alternatively, you can purchase sandwiches, pastries and beverages from Arcafe. After your meal, you can board your flight to New York on US Airways, Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Air Canada or one of the other airlines that you may have a reservation with for the trip.
New York City has a higher population than any other city in the U.S. It's located on the northeastern coast of the country on one of the largest harbors in the world. This location has made the city a center of trade for most of its existence, attracting people from all over the world. With over 800 languages spoken throughout the city it has become one of the most diverse cities in the world, providing a wide variety of attractions for visitors.
There are three airports handling international flights into New York. LaGuardia Airport about 8 miles from midtown Manhattan, John F. Kennedy International Airport about 12 miles from Lower Manhattan and Newark Liberty International Airport about 15 miles from Midtown Manhattan. Travel from LaGuardia to Manhattan will cost you about $25 by taxi. Getting from JFK Airport to Manhattan will cost you $2.50 for subway fare or a flat rate of $45 by taxi. The taxi from Newark Liberty is about $60.
There is no tourist season for New York, so the best time to visit New York is whenever there's something going on in the city that you'd like to see. From September to March is a good time to arrive for the various performing-arts seasons. The summer months of July and August offer the best chances for good tables at New York eateries. For the best weather, you'll want to time your arrival with the fall or spring. New York weather is highly seasonal, with summer temperatures averaging as high as 100 degrees Fahrenheit during mid-July and mid-August in and dropping as low as the mid-20s during the winters. Dress for the seasons accordingly, with light clothing worn from about April to August and heavier winter clothing from November through early March.
While in New York, there are a few locations you may wish to visit to get a real feel for the city. You should make a trip to Central Park to view the natural heart of the city, take a trip to the top of the Empire State Visit for the view and visit The Metropolitan Museum of Art for a look at one of the most extensive art collections in the world. While you're out, have a meal at one of New York's many fine restaurants or take in a Broadway show.
