The resort was beautiful best looking resort I been too. But the Staff wasn’t all that friendly with us. I’m in a interracial relationship and they long time we was there we felt like everyone stared or wasn’t being friendly. It was coming off kinda rude in a way. I have one of the bellhops Made me feel uncomfortable. He gave me sexual looks ! and the middle of the night someone called asking about checking out our bags. It was weird. But we think it was him. But we try to make the best of our trip. Some of the workers was nice. I mean a good four. The lifeguard at the beach was cool. Very friendly and helpful. The beach was beautiful but be prepared to get her harassed by the locals trying to sell u things. That’s all day long. the food at the resort was pretty good for a all inclusive. The bed was too hard for me. But I realize it was a lot of older ppl at this resort and maybe some couples but not too much. Wish they had way more entertainment ! Yeah it’s was a relaxing resort but it was kinda too dead. Plus the staring was getting very annoying. So anyone that’s a interracial couple please DO NOT go here! We tried our best to enjoy our trip but the staff made us unwelcome and we just want to warn ppl for u won’t waste ur money.
Just back from Sunset at the Palms and this is our experience. Beautiful beach, really warm water, there are many floats people have left already there, we took our own and they were not needed. Lots of boat action right at the beach and music from down the beach by tent vendors. More food at beach grill for lunch than across the street at the resort, only 5/6 sandwiches on menu. Not a great place for vegetarians or vegans. Rooms nice although needed maintenance on some, neighbors were in shower and water flowed outside building. 3 house wines white, red, champagne, name brand wine cost extra, outside area all bar. Red stripe beer on tap and generic labeled liquor. Birthday was a acknowledged very nicely, sign on door with rose pedals at dinner table and champagne with cherries. Only palm groves buffet every night, unless it was chef showcase, 1 night out of 6 and lotus leaf same also 1 night. Breakfast buffet was very good. No other restaurants. Several pieces of fitness equipment out of service, Tennis courts pad locked and didn’t look as if had been used in years. Hot tub was not working. Towel shortage throughout resort. There is a safe in room. Beautiful grounds. Entertainment, reggae band 2 nights played 1 1/2 hr and Classical pianist 2 nights. No seating areas away from bar anywhere in resort, to have a quiet personal time. We found many very nice and helpful attendants and a few not so pleasant ( May of been having bad day) we are vegetarian, we are seasoned travelers
All the staff was amazing and made the week we spent there feel like we were with family and friends. Special shout out to Lavern for her incredible job housekeeping and fantastic towel animals; Kerry for her amazing drinks and remembering our names and what we liked to drink ; Josephine for being a great concierge; and Evrette for recommending breakfast with Betty (the goat). Feeding the goats, enjoying the beautiful natural gardens and just relaxing made this a one of a kind trip I would recommend for anyone
We spent our honeymoon at the Sunset at the Palms and couldn’t have dreamt of a better experience. The staff were exceptional - friendly, accommodating, informative, and helpful. The chef even prepared a special meal for us when we learned we were going to miss Jamaican night for dinner. The property is gorgeous - loads of palms and flowers, birds and tree frogs - and the spa was also top notch. My husband and I got massages every day we were there, and Brenda, LaShauna and Jolene took exceptional care to give us the most relaxing experience. We opted to take the Black River and YS Falls tour with Sinclair as our guide and had a great time (and learned a lot, too!). All in all, great experience if you’re looking for a small, boutique resort getaway.
the grounds are beautiful.
Everything open air, including the rooms. The staff are all fantastic, from the on site managers to the individual workers. Everyone is very friendly, and hard working.
We just came back from Jamaica . The hotel and beach beautiful .The same menu entire week No buffet. Very słów service and understaff in resteurant.
Very beautiful property. Had the time of our life.
Very beautiful in nature. Perfect for a honeymoon
Everything about the resort was a nice surprise. We really didn't have any expectations other than just wanted a retreat that involved the Caribbean. The resort is quaint and adorable with a different look and feel than the typical vacation resort experience. The absolute best part about the stay though was hands down the staff. Everybody treats you and each other as if you are a part of the family.
Lets lead with the transfer service that was recommended dropped us off, in the rain, on the street, with cars flying passed us. Then the driver demanded a tip. If you're a smoker (a cigarette smoker) then you face the death trap of bamboo hitting you in the only smoking are they provide. Also, if you're a fisherman, and would like to have them cook your 20# tuna, don't bother, I'll happily post a picture of what should've been a crime. Then the rest of the fish disappeared,.. The staff was nice, polite. Unhelpful though. Like when the transfer back to the airport was over 30 minutes late... they seemed pretty unconcerned. They tell you to book your trips when you get there, and then tell you they're full. This happened with two of the things we'd like to have done. If you're used to quick service, you're gonna be disappointed. This we didn't care about though, I only mention so others are aware. Except for the fish incident, the food was good. They ran outa hot dogs on the beach, but I figure well that happens. Also their email went down and we couldn't print out out covid test results... which had me sweating if my phone died, but it didn't and we made it back alive.
The Staff at Sunset was exceptional and had it not been for them the whole stay would be a disaster. We thought the property and existing buildings was so old and outdated, apparently nothing has changed since it opened 30 yesrs ago. Warning do not book here, we had no cable TV, the food options were very limited and the whole property looks like it's ran on candle light, way to dark. Stay Away... Staff is doing the best they can with what they have to work with. I blame the owner.
Shower, pool & beach were awesome. Karaoke was nice but only lasted a couple hours & we were just receiving dinner when it started each time so we only had about a half hour to participate. There was tv that we couldn't watch, spotty internet, an ant invasion & they constantly ran out of food for lunch & dinner. Staff provided more service to immediate tippers. Gift shop employee tried to sell me a pack of gum she dug around the bottom of her purse for & didn’t seem to see a problem with it. After much discussion with management about our treatment, they did provide a special dinner for our last night. All in all, it wouldn't be a resort I'd visit again but many of the staff were outstanding & tried to make things right & comfortable.
Liked the beach services
We loved this resort! The room was very clean and comfortable. The grounds were immaculate and absolutely beautiful. We stayed during COVID so it did not have any buffets, but had a rotating menu so you never got bored and everything we ate was delicious. Staff (from our driver to cleaning staff) was very friendly and took care of all of our needs. We will definitely stay again!
