This is my second time staying at this hotel. I was first impressed with the access to the private beach and the small island which is accessible via walking across the shallow waters. The dinning options has a variety of delicious foods. And there are a few different restaurants that you can reserve for the evening for a more formal dining experience. I really enjoyed the hibachi restaurant. The staff is very friendly and at your beckoning call for all your needs. I was sure to bring singles with me to leave tips after every meal and to tip the waiting staff (optional). Something else that I enjoyed was the availability of the water sports which is an additional cost at most other hotels. The rooms are clean. Also, I formy phone in the dining room and remembered it after 1 hour. The staff turned it in to the guest service and I was able to retrieve it.

Will Never recommend, or visit again. Upon checking in, I was assigned a room on the first floor with a walkout sliding door that lacked proper security. The only locking mechanism was a U-shaped lock that could easily be unhooked from the outside. I requested a different room, I encountered the same issue, three rooms later and still no resolution. All rooms had broken sliding door locks holding them closed with a u-shape sliding door pin. I was offered another room on the third floor in the same building #1. However, despite my specific request (I originally paid for a 1 bedroom ocean view) no double beds. This new room featured double queen beds. After viewing yet another room, only to find gecko like lizards running around, I reached my breaking point. The bellman’s comment regarding my “pickiness” only added to my frustration; stating ( “if it was somebody else, they would have taken one of tha rooms, you too picky. They can only give you rooms based on what you pay and since a basic room you got, that’s what they gon’ give you”) it’s unacceptable to be made to feel this way when I had already indicated willingness to pay for an upgraded room. After about 2.5 hours of waiting and back-and-forth communication, I finally received a room on the opposite side of the building. I believe that regardless of what I paid for my stay, comfort and safety should be very important in any hotel. It's disappointing that your establishment failed to provide either during my visit.

2 Days at Catalonia

1. Check in was at 3… when we got there at 1, they checked us in and we could change and get some food. We were grateful for that. 2. The rooms were ok but dated. I know they’re doing some remodeling, so I hope the older side will get a face lift as well. The bathroom was tiny, you couldn’t turn around without bumping into something. The sheets were comfy but there was a little moldy smell (not sure where it was coming from). 3. The beach was AMAZING. Warm water, very inviting. The pool was good as well, just had some mold - needs a little cleaning. 4. The food- Breakfast - AMAZING!! Lunch and dinner were tasty but just ok. 5. The staff - everyone was pleasant. 6. The SPA - very nice. Good massage. 7. I would go back. It’s a nice place, just needs a little TLC.

Overall we had a great stay, the food was good and the staff was nice. Our room had a pretty distinct smell of mold/cat pee which was yuck. Didn’t completely ruin the experience but definitely wasn’t a great factor. Unlimited part was lovely.staff was eager to fill your cups and get you desert.

The owners of this building have really neglected this place. Thenwifi is terrible in the hotel rooms, there is alot of saftey hazards uxh as unlele ground, unstable marble tables and chairs in the smoking area, limited smoking areas, some of the buffet food was cold, surplus flies at the bar, slippery bathroom and hotel room floors, the curtains do not close all the way, rusty towel hangers, outlets falling apart, imaginary IT tech guy. There was a shirt in the room when i arrived so that means the room was not properly cleaned. The bathrrom is way too smalla nd slippery that i fell on my surgery knee. Reservations were required for yheir restaurants however they were never full so it was unnecessary to reserve, on top of the asian restaurant not being open however the lights were on and the door was open, but we were never informed that it was closed prior. I really like that it is close to the airport. Staffs are friendly. l love the nightly shows and parties, and I appreciate that the organization did not close down while the renovation/construction is going on, this makes people still have jobs. This shows that they are a people person. I also like that they are family oriented, I enjoyed seeing kids involved in the shows, and I appreciate when they recognize birthdays of both kids and adults. I learnt that Catalonia has lots of locations in different countries. I will definitely be staying with them again
