It's important to note that Cardiff Hotel & Spa (aka Heart Hotel) is a training hotel, and you have to expect that when you book. Given that there are not many choices of hotels (go with guest villas for larger groups) Cardiff/ Heart is one of the few options. The younger staff are amazing and trying so hard to learn and please - this is the one saving grace. But the staff at the front desk treat guests with disdain and indifference from the beginning. We arrived and had made our reservations via email with a manager who responded in email saying "your reservation is confirmed for the dates you requested." The manager wasn't present when we arrived and the front desk staff actually chastised us, said there was no reservation because we had not obtained a reservation number (a copy of the manager's confirmation email is not enough), and they made a big deal about finding us a room. Any subsequent request at the front desk, was met with such disdain that the message was clear: they did not want to be bothered. 3 people were at the desk always shuffling papers, and none of them wanted to help guests with simple requests. For example, they have wifi, but only in the dining area and the front desk staff say they have to call technicians to check for wifi in the rooms. Don't stay here, but book a guest villa somewhere on Runaway Bay.
not bad , clean room, good AC, good breakfast. water pressure really low, the training hotel has an uncomfortable staff hovering in the dining areas, I guess the want to ensure your okay, but it feels uncomfortable sometimes. Dinner was terrible like frozen Walmart food. But overall worth the money.
My family stayed here for a few nights and were happy with the authenticity of the food, the location and the friendly service. The hotel is up on a hill above Runaway Bay. It has a lovely pool with a view to the ocean and the restaurant is poolside. The rooms are good and comfortable and the grounds are well landscaped. The nearest beach is a private one and the hotel transports you down there free of charge, however it is not the best beach on the island. There is a beauty salon on the property which isn't very well promoted. My whole family made use of it one rainy afternoon and the service there was very good and the prices were reasonable. Unfortunately there were a few flaws in the hotel - the water was cold for most of our stay, communication with the hotel prior to arrival was difficult and we were unable to arrange prepayment as requested. The waiter service was friendly but awkward - plates cleared too quickly, one meal arriving long before the others etc. I realise it is a training hotel but feel that the management should be providing the best possible training for these staff members and that was not apparent. I would recommend the hotel but be warned that, at the moment, things might not go as smoothly as you might expect (compared with other similarly priced hotels in Jamaica).
I stayed at the Cardiff Hotel and Spa while attending a wedding at a nearby venue. The hotel exceeded my expectations. My friends always told me about it but I am thankful that I had the opportunity to experience it for myself. The room was spacious, neat and clean. The bed was firm and comfortable. The modern decor and wonderful view of the countryside added to my enjoyment of the weekend. Staff are very helpful. The private beach is a must see...shallow clear water and maximum privacy. I would recommend this affordable hotel to all.
I had never heard of this hotel, but decided to give it a try. It was appropriated priced for a bread and breakfast hotel. We started 2 nights and 3 days. Customer service was fine upon arrival, the grounds were clean, atmosphere seemed calm, peaceful and comforting. The room was really nice, clean and spacious with a balcony - equipped with a/c, cable tv, mini fridge and coffee maker. Beach is not on property We did experience a few hiccups which we considered major - the light continuously went for the whole stay nor more than a minute at a time, front desk/customer service was not exceptional throughout the whole stay - we ordered dinner to the room and I had to go to the desk to make payment via credit card as they did not have a portable machine nor would they put the charge to the room or allow for payment at the end of the stay. Parking also an issue at times. Wi-fi is also available but doesn't always work Overall it was mediocre even for the price. I would not recommend to anyone who was is looking for exceptional customer service and that little extra personalized service - however if you are just looking for a nice quiet place to relax that includes breakfast this is perfect for you
Worst experience ever I stayed at this hotel during spring break for a total of four nights, the food was okay for the most part.My issue though was with the customer service of both the managers as well as the rest of staff. The hotel advertises top notch amenities including high speed wifi but I'm yet to receive/see all that. From the time of my arrival I was having issues with the wifi and also a foul smell within the area where my room was, I made numerous complaints but nothing was done. For $135 a night you can definitely get a way better hotel with 5* service and amenities save your money and go somewhere else!!!
I just needed a place to sleep that was not too expensive during the Spring Break season. Cardiff Hotel fit the bill. The hotel is perched on a hill south off the main highway in the heart of Runaway bay and easily accessible. While there are nice views of the Caribbean sea, this is not a beachfront property. My expectations were low but I was pleasantly surprised. The room I stayed in (Block 2) had an unobstructed view of the Caribbean sea. I had a room with two full beds. It was small compared to other hotels along this strip of Runaway Bay. They have a spa which was decent. The ambiance is not great but the staff was very pleasant and accommodating and the price was unbeatable. I paid less than $100 for a 2 hour treatment including steam shower, coffee scrub, and massage. This was exactly what I needed after an exhausting weekend. The room rate included complimentary breakfast which was decent. Also, the attendants at breakfast were very nice. This place would be really nice if the front desk was more professional. They always seemed to be busy with everything else but the customer in front of them. When I made sure I booked a sea view room. When I check in, I was given a room at the end of the building with rooms numbered 1. I didn't feel comfortable staying in such a dark corner and the room did not have the sea view for which I paid. I went back to the front desk and requested another room. I was told, that was the room that I was assigned. I kindly ask the front desk attendant for a reassignment which was granted. There were other times that I had to interact with the front desk but each time they were not very customer friendly. I would stay there again and it is good value for the money.
Food best in the evening. Beach some way from the hotel but parking available there or you can take hotel shuttle. You need to pay for hiring loungers at the beach. Breakfast included in our room rate. Some staff did not give us all items included. I didn't like condensed milk, I prefer pasteurised but not many places in Jamaica supply it. Ice cream on sale nearby by car at a branch of Devon I-Scream. Portions are huge be warned.
This was a comfortable and enjoyable stay, marred by small inadequacies. The property is attractive, the gardens cared for, the staff attentive. The food was good, though the menu somewhat predictable after a week. Every member of staff was courteous and keen to help, but (a) the organization of the kitchen needs improving so that the serving of courses was faster (at breakfast, one sometimes waited 20 minutes for the next course), and some of the younger staff need more training is how to take an order accurately - though perhaps this was also the kitchen's fault. My base bedsheet also stopped a foot short of the end of the bed. A little attention to these would greatly improve the experience. The generator near my room did not help sleep.
I spent my birthday there and it was just great the rooms were really nice. Just a bundle of peace i enjoyed my stay there would surely go back. Shout out to rusheeda, alrick and kimani for helping my family and i to enjoy our stay. its not like the hyped up hotels but its just right lol
